Chuck and Karla,
Greetings from the "mom". Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!
Your purple iris were so pretty. If you happen to know the brand of your grill, my husband says that he would love to buy one for himself. (Like he needs more toys....)
We will be spending most of the rest of our summer weekends at our family cabin on Lake Pickerel, but it's going to be difficult to top the weekend in the Hills.
We had a great time for a short family getaway. House was very nice, Karla and Chuck were very hospitable. Very nice area. Skied and snowmobiling were great.
We recently enjoyed a family weekend in this gorgeous home! Huge open kitchen and living space made for a lot of conversation-- no matter where we were (on the sofa, around the kitchen island, dining table). And no TV in the family area was a bonus for a few days of family-- you had to **gasp** talk to each other!
If you are looking for a spacious home, nestled in the woods this is it. Close enough to the attractions such as Mt. Rushmore and Custer; Even Devil's Tower if you don't mind a nice drive.
I highly recommend this home, especially for a family or group (there were 9 of us). If I find myself in South Dakota again, I hope this house is available!
Karla and Chuck are excellent host. The house and property were breathtaking. Would stay there again in a heart beat. Thank You Karla and Chuck for allowing us to stay in your home.
What a beautiful home and a lovely location. Karla is very friendly and helpful. Neighbors were helpful as well!
Our mission was to hit the ATV trails and they are beautiful once you find them. A tip for future ATV riders staying here, would be to put a sign on the tree/gate to designate the trail so it would be easier to locate. I'm sorry I didn't go out with the group Saturday morning as they really enjoyed the trail and mud behind your home. ;) I had a wonderful time relaxing on the porch while they were gone.
Yes, I would recommend this place to a friend if they want to be close to Rapid CIty/Nemo.
After driving 23 hours straight through from Austin, Tx., we couldn't wait for our heads to hit the pillow. Our stay was enjoyable from the time we met our hosts and their dog Belle until we drove away on that 7th day. Each day we toured the beautiful sites of South Dakota on the back of our bikes, then came back to this beautiful home to enjoy dinner and cocktails while we relaxed on the porch enjoying the park like setting and a nightly lightning storms. The kitchen is huge and has everything you need. The house, around 5000 sq feet, gave each of the three couples their own space. We never turned on a TV and because Internet was slow, we opted not to work. Even cell service was spotty. After getting used to not being plugged in, we were happy to enjoy each other's company the old fashioned way. The house is very clean and decor brought me back to a time when I was younger. I would defiantly recommend this place if you want to get away from it all. However, it is a central location with so many sites and beautiful drives in Sourh Dakota.
We loved staying at your place! We had 3 families, 6 adults and 3 small children. The home is beautiful and the yard HUGE and amazing for exploring. I do think the home would probably be better for older children then we had (2,3,4), as we were constantly making sure that the kids were not going up or down stairs or getting into things. The trampoline out back was well loved by the kids. I would also recommend giving yourself more time at the house than we did, we were so busy seeing all the sites in the area we didn't get to just relax at the house nearly as much as we would have liked too. We saw Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, the badlands, Devil's Tower, The Mammoth Site (My favorite!), Wall drug, the 1880 train and more. There are so many things to do and see in the area. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us! If we ever go back to the Black Hills we would stay here again without thinking! Loved it!
