About the property

Lodge, 1 Bedroom + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 5)

The historical Martin Fort built in 1856 has been remodeled on the beautiful 625 acre Leifeste Ranch. The Leifeste Ranch is located between llano and Fredericksburg Texas on the scenic Willow City Loop, centrally located for touring the many vineyards and wineries that this area has become known for. The fort is specifically designed for 5 or less and is the perfect setting for a memorable trip. It is fully equipped with hot-tub, big fireplace, complete kitchen, linens, laundry facilities, large wrap around deck with grill, 2 balcony, 2 flat screen TVs, and WiFi. The master bedroom offers a romantic king size cedar log bed with private bath. The loft sleeps 3 with a king bed and twin bed. For the day-time wildlife is abundant for viewing, washers, as well as biking and hiking the property. Whether you want to kick back and relax on the patio or explore all that Fredericksburg and Llano has to offer, you are sure to have a great time.

FYI: This is a ranch so there might be cows in your yard when you wake up.

this was one of the finest places I have stayed at in texas. really well thought out, super clean, and if you forget something , its probably on hand here. you feel like its your own place while you are there. we went hiking and saw wildlife around every turn. we liked it so much we never left the property . we will absolutely be back to this historic place and will recommend it to everyone.

beautiful and memorable !

  • 5 of 5

How lucky for us to find such a unusual place to stay with VRBO. We have stayed at many places with VRBO and always look for something unique. This was perfect for a memorable weekend for our family of 4. Great place to learn about Texas history in a truly beautiful surrounding. The fort itself is excellent - extremely clean and very nicely decorated. I send thanks to the family who rents this because it is a real gem and rare find on VRBO! We went to Enchanted Rock early one of the mornings, an easy and quick 25 minute drive . We look forward to returning again!!

The kids loved petting the horse and we all loved the hot tub. We enjoyed watching the stars and being very secluded. It is close to town and the bluebonnets and wild flowers were out making the drive just gorgeous. Along the way we saw cows and calfs. It was a great way to spend my 40th birthday weekend. It was also spotless and there was no dust anywhere - our children have allergies. We stay in cabins all over the state and this was as clean as any we have ever been too. The only thing that we thought was odd was the fact that you couldn't look anywhere without seeing a mount of some animal. The bedroom had a deer that I swear was staring at us. There are antlers everywhere- probably over 100. One night I was watching TV and felt something on my left shoulder, it was a foot from several fox skins hanging behind the couch. We thought it was funny and it made the cabin interesting for sure, but if you have a thing about hunting you might be bothered. We would stay there again though. It also has small holes all in the old fort part- the small windows that the pioneers shot at indians through. Very interesting and we were able to teach our children about them. Overall we absolutely loved it and are thankful that we found it. I gave it 4 stars only because it had so many animal skins and mounts. I would actually have given it a 4.8, but that isn't allowed :)

Exquisitely Appointed Hill Country Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this breathtakingly beautiful hill country lodge! The listing description was accurate and directions to the lodge were spot on. Ashley and her family were absolutely fantastic to work with! The property was very clean and well-maintained and really provided too many amenities to list. Our kids (10 & 6) were over the moon with all of the animal sightings, especially the cows which appeared in different locations each day. It became a fun part of our vacation playing "guess where the cows will be today!" We made so many memories outdoors by the campfire, playing washers all afternoon, and just relaxing in the large hot tub. We will forever cherish our time spent here. Thank you for letting us stay at your amazing property! We will definitely recommend this property to friends and family.
