About Steve and Sara Lowe

Both myself and my wife grew up in Colorado. I am a Firefighter in Arizona. My wife works for a major hospital system in the Phoenix area. We stay very busy with our son but do enjoy to travel and vacation as time allows.

Why Steve and Sara Lowe chose South Central Colorado

My wife grew up in the San Luis Valley and her parents purchased the property when she was younger. She has many memories with the property as their family spent nearly every weekend and holiday there. We try to come back at least 2-3 times a year to enjoy the seasons that we miss out on living in Arizona to give our son the same memories.

What makes this cabin unique

You are only steps from the river on this property. We love to spend time on the deck and listen to the roar of the Rio Grande. Times spent at the cabin are relaxing and rejuvenating. It is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Everything We Hoped For

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at River Cottage was everything we hoped for. It was located a few miles away from South Fork and easy to get to. River Cottage provided all of the comforts of home, a back deck just steps away from the Rio Grande River, a gas grill on the deck, hammocks for relaxation, and the privacy of a vacation home. We enjoyed fishing right out the back door, several day trips to lakes less than an hour's drive away, shopping in Creede, and a raft trip that went right past our cabin during our stay.

On our last full day, the water pump went out. It just took a quick call the the property managers and by the afternoon the water was back on. I highly recommend vacationing at River Cottage.

The second stay was even better than the first

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying here, and hopefully not our last. Perfect location and easily accessible. The kitchen is well-appointed, and the furniture is very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing and just watching the river (and a moose) go by! At night the sound of the water lulled us to sleep. Thank you Steve and Sara for sharing your cottage, excellent reservation communication, and prompt refund of the security deposit. We hope to return again.

Perfect place for fishing, hiking and skiing!

  • 5 of 5

WE loved the River Cottage! It's a very beautiful setting right on the river! Close enough to Wolf Creek and far enough out of town to enjoy privacy. House had everything we need and Steve and Sara were very easy to work with. Loved that they allowed our whole family - both kids and dogs!! Everyone had a great time - thank you!

Overall great stay except for the neighbor ( judge)

  • 4 of 5

The property was beautiful, the weather was better than good and the family time was priceless. Other than the neighbor lying about my kids shooting a bb gun at a bottle towards the river and her saying someone pointing a rifle at her home??? Lol what a joke she was, non the less the sheriff she lied to was very nice and aloud my kids to continue to practice there second amendment!

Time of our life

  • 5 of 5

This was exactly what we were looking for when we wanted to get our family of 5, "away from it all"... With 2 weeks, we were able to get it all in and then some, twice. We came with a U-Haul loaded with all of our favorite things from home; bikes, kayaks, dogs, etc... only time we were inside was to sleep. This property was secluded but close enough to town and with the perfect location on the river we were able to enjoy all of our toys! Thanks, Steve for the awesome accomodations! About to book our next summer trip!! Already dreaming...
