About Kimberly Beckman
I grew up traveling to Bear Lake and can't imagine not having had those experiences! We spent several weeks each summer there and used it heavily in the winters for snowmobiling. Great family memories and memories we are so thrilled to be able to pass on to our children! Hearing the loons call to each other, fishing, boating, camp fires with s'mores...and just enjoying Northern Michigan has created treasured memories. Our children are mostly college aged now and we still hear them say 'I want to go to the cottage this weekend'--great!
Kimberly Beckman purchased this Cottage in 2009

Bear Lake is one of the clearest lakes in Michigan with clarity to over 30'. Great for swimming, boating, fishing. It is an all sports lake. Can't beat Northern Michigan in the summer!

The Way Up North Should Be!
This is our 2nd visit to Uncle Pat's it's the perfect no-frills get away. Just the way Up North should be. Bear Lake has been a treasured vacation for our entire lives. Uncle Pat's takes you back to simple care free days. There is WiFi, but no television. It is a great way to unplug and really enjoy the lake and nature. The lake is a pristine all sports lake perfect for just about any water activity. The owners are absolutely wonderful, and readily available should you have any problems.
There is plenty to do in the area and the wineries & brewery's of Traverse City are under an hour away should you need a rainy day adventure. Make sure that you eat at Shirley's at least once during your visit.
... and remember, Any Day Up North Is A Good Day!
Was quiet and private even though there were houses nearby. Steps up and down the beach could be challenging for some. Lake was nice but a bit noisy. The inside of the cottage was a little smaller and more outdated than we thought. We were pleasantly surprised with the Wi-Fi and did enjoy the fireplace on cool nights. Inside steps were a bit challenging to negotiate. Overall it was fine for a short getaway. It might be a bit crowded for a family. Owners were friendly and fairly communicative.
Beautiful place on the Lake
Had a great time everything in the cottage worked as it should. A very nice peaceful setting once the weekend was over. The fishing was great once you figure out what they like. The water was the cleanest I have ever seen. I have heard a lot of good things about the lake just took me 59 yrs to get there. We will be going back. The only bad thing was the steps leading down to the water. 7/12/2017
Nice little cabin on a beautiful lake!
Children and the dog loved swimming in the lake all day (parents too)! We tubed the manistee river just down the road, and made trips into Kalkaska and Grayling. Great location for a Northern Michigan vacation!!
Cute, lake-front property
The property was cute from the outside, however when we went in we found that there were spider webs in nearly every corner. It was as if no one had cleaned in some time. Beds were not bad, aside from the bottom
Bed of the bunk beds which was nearly impossible to sleep on.
I am sorry that you found some spiderwebs! I opened the cottage myself and you were the first group in for this season. Normally we receive very positive comments regarding the cleanliness!
We did replace the mattress on the bottom bunk this weekend. We added a box mattress to it as well so it be much better.
Quaint cabin on a beautiful lake
This was a simple cabin on a beautiful northern Michigan lake. Things to know: The lake is a great all sports lake, we enjoyed lots of swimming, wake boarding and fishing here without ever seeing a single weed, it is the most beautiful blue and crystal clear. Although we would have loved to be out skiing at 8 am, the no wake rule was in effect until 11 am so make sure to plan your day on the lake for that. If you are going to bring a boat to the lake, do not plan on using the dock to tie the boat off, you will need to either anchor or stake it but the water is shallow and it really wasn't a problem for us since the kids did quite a bit of fishing off the dock anyway. The "steps" going down to the lake are treacherous at best so that may be a concern if you have small children or someone who is not sure footed. There is no A/C in the house but were a few fans available to use, there is a small tv in one bedroom but the color doesn't work so the kids watched movies in black and white (which they called "the 80's tv"), lot's of movies to pick from too. The biggest issue for us was the "fire pit" which is extremely small and not big enough to put more than twigs in. We were hoping to cook a few hot dogs or possibly a dinner on it and this isn't the case but it would be perfect for 2 people to sit near and enjoy the lake view. If you don't feel like cooking, Bear's Lair pizza was very good!! There is a magnet on the refrigerator for the phone number.
