“The Chalet” on Wellesley Island is situated in the center where X marks the spot of Thousand Islands on the St. Lawrence Seaway of New York.
'The Chalet' is specifically located on Millionaire's Row halfway between Boldt Castle and The Thousand Island Club. This Historic Austrian Swiss Style Chalet was built by George Boldt in 1910. During the Guilded Era Boldt used “The Chalet” as a guest house to for his most notable guests and visitors.
Bell, Florence, St. Elmo and Nobby Islands protect the Main dock from the St. Lawrence Chop and larger boat traffic while still preserving the major view of the shipping channel from the property. At the Main dock watch ships and yachts from around the world travel the St. Lawrence right in your front yard. Closer to shore you can hear the tour boats pass by describing the history of the Chalet to their passengers. Closer yet the classic 'Woodies' come idling by - among them the 'Zipper' from the Antique Boat Museum and the 'Monitor' from Castle Rest.
Swimming at the Main dock is second to none. The crystal clear water is more than 10' deep. After basking in the sun all day there is nothing like a swim in this refreshing water off the dock.
Rental boats can be arranged, but if you have your own bring it! Our 30' finger dock is equiped with power. You will find it very easy to get into due to the prevailing winds. You will find the finger dock literally beside the main dock in position number one. Sitting at the dock on your boat brings the world of the Seaway even closer.
Castles, museums, golf, river cruises, fishing and dive charters and Kingston Ontario, are here at your finger tips in the heart of the Islands.

I’m a Contractor who specializes in the Masonry Restoration of Historic Structures. You can see one of our recent projects at ' Hopewell Hall”. We reconstructed all of the stone walls, stairs and balconies at this property and you'll see it from the River..
Bill Farmer purchased this condo in 1986
It was easy. I knew the area well and my friends who own Pullman Island AKA 'Castle Rest' also owned the Unit A and still own the Boat House off the to the side of our front door and deck at Unit A. It was a great buy, though it was a gutted shell. It was also the last unit to be sold in the building during the conversion to Condos. It was a perfect do it you self project for a contractor and over the years I've managed to turn it into the classic 'Captain's Quarters' style of living space. Much of the interior is original, the doors, windows and trim. All the natural wood are added features. All the corners of the wood built fixture have eased corner and with the wainscoting one gets the feeling of being on a ship.
The most unique thing about the Chalet is that you can drive to it and when you're standing dockside you know you are in the heart of the 1000 Islands. Our unit is ground level so loading and unloading is a breeze. The 400 square foot deck allows for great outdoor entertaining and enjoyment. The ground level access makes especially appealing for those who might need easier accessibility. You're within walking distance to The Old 1000 Islands Club, Hackers Grill at the 1000 Islands Golf Club and The Boldt Castle Yacht House. There are 3 Golf courses on the Island. Your just a short 7 mile drive down route 100 to the finest dinning at the Wellesley Hotel and all that Thousand Island Park Community has to offer.
Walking distance to the Thousand Island Club and fine dinning and entertainment.
All three bedromms have a River view.
Great views !! Awesome surroundings. Fishing, boating and swimming in crystal clear water
right off your own dock!! This house has it all. House was in great condition. Views of Boldt Castle, Alex Bay and the St Lawrence from your private dock. Owner easy to deal with. Would highly recommend. See you next year !!
What a great property!! Owner was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Pictures do not do this property justice! Very nice property with incredible views. Waking up in the morning to ships passing by was great. Everything about the week at the Chalet was phenomenal. Owner was very informative and I look forward to another week in the future.
I would highly recommend this property to friends and relatives. We had 3 teenage kids and had more than enough room. Close to Boldt Castle and the Boldt Boathouse. How can you go wrong staying in the Chalet that George Boldt built for his guests!!
The owner was very accommodating and has a beautiful vacation rental. We immediately felt right at home and enjoyed every waking sunset and and the serenity of the evenings. The trip over to the Boldt Yachthouse was just a quick bike ride away and loved the short trip over to the castle from there, perfect for our little ones! We took advantage of the accessible waterway and enjoyed the action at Alexandria Bay. I highly recommend this place for your next vacation getaway and see all that the area has to offer!
Vist a variety of museums in the area, tour two Castles (Boldt and Singer) and many River tours are available. Visit the local towns of Clayton and Cape Vincent. Visit Canada, Kingston and Gananoque, Brockville and Wolfe Island.
