We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at the house. The kitchen was well stocked and allowed us to cook a full turkey. The front porch offered a relaxing view of the mountains. We even enjoyed listening to the cows. We enjoyed the walks we took with our puppies, and they also enjoyed the cows. The house was comfortable and the fireplace was great for the cool nights. We appreciated the fact there was enough seating for us and my family. Although the house is quite a distance from town, our holiday in Murphy is one we will forever remember and would stay again should an opportunity come up. Thank you!
Absolutely love this wonderful mountain country cottage! It is very clean and comfortable. It was our second time staying here and this time we had the pleasure of meeting Rick. He is very accommodating and stopped by just to make sure everything was okay and to see we needed anything. We stayed for a week and looked forward everyday to coming back to this quiet cottage to rock on the porch and watch the wildlife. Will definitely be back again and we wholeheartedly recommend it!
Loved the peaceful setting of this cute house. Spent lots of hours on the front porch with good friends, watching all the wildlife and the leaves turning, which turned a great deal in a few days. Enjoyed the fire pit on one of the first fall nights under the beautiful starry sky. Magnificent! Even made s'mores. House has a well equipped kitchen, however, the refrigerator made such loud noises we could hear it on the porch and at night. House was very dusty and floors were not clean. We had to go to the local Dollar Store to buy soap for the bathrooms and toilet paper before we left. The shower heads were watersavers with only a mist for showers. We thought the owners would check in, since they live down the road; but they could have been out of town. All in all, we enjoyed our visit to the Pinhook Cottage and would recommend it to friends. Very relaxing!
This is our fourth stay at this home provided by owner, Rick Jones. We come to the Folk School when there are classes we want and Rick's cottage makes the stay so comfortable and the area around the home is stunningly beautiful. Rick is an absolutely wonderful, gracious and accommodating host, who makes sure your stay is enjoyable. We just keep coming back.

Butcher, baker, candlestick maker...whatever your hobby, you could probably do it with what's supplied in this cottage.
Stayed two weeks. Friends visited on their way through town and stayed a couple of nights. Plenty of room!
Two full bathrooms. Full washer/dryer and dishwasher. EVERY conceivable kitchen item was there (except for slotted spoon!) Plenty of towels. Large kitchen table with seating for four.
Rocking chairs on front porch are solid and secure even for old people. There are bees and wasps near front door, so we used back door which was more convenient from the car, anyway.
It's 19 minutes to Walmart. Easy drive up/down mountain. NOT steep. Very close to John C Campbell Folk School which is world famous. We went to a harp concert there last night.
Cows across the street were fabulously entertaining.
A/c works great. Did not use heat or fireplace. The garage has a gas grill which worked well. There is firewood for outdoor fire.
Showers in both bathrooms were less than perfect because of water-saver. Made shower more of a spray.
There is a blender/Magic Bullet/any serving dish you could want. Large refrigerator. Plenty of lighting overhead.
Went to Blairsville Festival, Andrews, Franklin and every other town within 60 miles.
The Brewery in town has terrific burgers and pizza and the bakery is to die for.
Plenty of closet space.
We sit on porch with coffee then leave for the day. Dinner home and more porch sitting. Quiet area to promote sleep.Only noise is occasional MOO from cows...oh yes, the neat rooster which greets you each dawn is special.
Loved staying at your cottage. The front porch overlooking the pasture and mountains with its' cows, deer and fawn, cattle and calves, and turkeys were a pleasure to watch. Rocking on the chairs delightful. The home was cozy, comfortable and lacked nothing. We appreciated the custom grapefruit soap in the bath -really a nice touch! Thank you, we will be back.
