A renovated farm with pool in a stunning and perfectly peaceful setting between the sea and Mount Etna, close to Acireale (3 km). The private pool (size 10 x 5 m., deep 160 cm) is in use from April to the end of October.
The house is located on the highest part of the estate, overlooking an infinite number of lemon trees, Mount Etna and the coast as far as Taormina (35 km). The garden is beautifully tended, with palm trees and Mediterranean flowers.
The house consists of 5 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, a dining room with open kitchen, sofa bed and a dining table for 12 persons. The rooms are all on the ground floor and all have air-conditioning. There are three units with own entrance. The units and the kitchen are not connected from the inside. Unit 1 has a terrace with sea view, a double room, a twin room and a bathroom. Unit 2 consists of 2 double rooms, a single bed and 2 bathrooms. Unit 3 is a spacious double room with bathroom. The kitchen opens onto a covered terrace, perfect for al fresco dining.
Exploring eastern Sicily: The accommodation is an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily. It is just three kilometres from Acireale (a pretty little city, built on a plateau of lava, that is known for its Baroque churches). Giardini Naxos, a seaside resort with beautiful sandy beaches distances 32 km. And a bit further we find Taormina ‘the pearl of the Mediterranean’ and the most exclusive seaside resort in Sicily. Its ancient Greek theatre is world famous for its extraordinary panoramic views. Santa Maria la Scala and Santa Tecla are pleasant seaside villages near the accommodation. In the village Santa Tecla, four kilometres away, is the renown fish restaurant “Da Lorenzo”. Both townshave pebbled beaches and a small port with vividly painted boats. In summer the villages become a seaside destination for the islanders who enjoy diving off the wooden platforms into the cool Mediterranean waters.
Exploring the volcano Etna: Several of the traditional lava-stone villages on the flanks of Etna are well worth a visit. Many guests at Casale Acqua e Fuoco, however, will be well content to relax in the stunning surroundings of the house, the garden and the pool. The villages of Etna, such as Trecastagni, Zafferana Etnea e Randazzo, are famous for their ancient lava flows, the architecture of their seventeenth century churches, their delicious local produce and the hospitality of the villagers. Situated 600 metres above sea level, they are a favourite retreat of the city dwellers who, in summer are in search of cool, fresh air, while in winter are in search of snow for skiing. Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below.
We have been with Homeaway since 2006, proposing houses that are able to unfold Sicily's colours and charm at best.
Houses with quality furnishing in unique locations, with incredible views or with a pool, always accurately selected in order to satisfy our main wish: to see you falling in love with Sicily just like we did.
We provide you with transparent information and true pictures. What you see is exactly what you get. We will advise you as much as we can about travel info, transfers and car rental.
Dinners in villas and other extra services can also be arranged. Finally, our prices are final rates! There are no hidden additional costs. We are flexible with your arrivals and departures and if you need a late check-in this is usually possible.
Very nicely done farmhouse. Was perfect for all of the extended family (10 people) to stay in, great pool.
Owners were very friendly and helpful.
Views of Etna, sea and the area are stunning
We were 9 people ranging from 12 to 49 in age with plenty of space for all of us in a clean and well appointed house.
We very much appreciated our own access to our rooms with our own bathrooms and the all important A/C. There was enough seating around the table and plenty of loungers around the pool.
We had fun picking lemons and figs in the orchard just below the house, swimming in the pool, playing boules and watching the kids run around the garden.
It was great to have the basics left at the house such as olive oil, herbs, salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, washing powders, etc. especially as we were only there a week. There were plenty of pots, pans and kitchen utensils, the only thing we might suggest adding is an ice cream scoop.
We made good use of the barbecue and the mosquito repellents that had been left.
The views from the house are magnificent just waking up each morning seeing Mount Etna is breathtaking. We also had a great view most evenings of all the firework displays during the month of August in the direction of the mountains as well as the sea.
The Wifi was reasonably good around the kitchen area and to the bedroom next to the kitchen but was hard to capture in the other bedrooms and around the pool.
The house is difficult to find as it is not marked and we had not anticipated that it would be through one gate down a long entry road, through another gate and down to the house. However with Tiziana on the phone we reached our destination without too much difficulty.
Sicilian traffic is unpredictable so decide which trips to take very carefully. I suggest not straying too far: A trip up Mount Etna, Siracusa, Taormina and as far as Caltagirone is definitely worth the time in the car but any further is stressful and tedious.
An absolutely great location for families or a group vacation.
We were 10 friends staying for a week in Sicily, and the Casale was ideal for what we needed. The swimming pool is lovely, very big, and there are plenty of pool loungers, but could do with more than one umbrella to provide more shade in the hot Sicilian sun. The views of Mount Etna from the garden were truly beautiful, especially in the evening. We spent a lot of time cooking for 10 people at the house, and so one gripe was that the kitchen could have been better equipped (sharper knives, more chopping boards, blender, something to play music on, is needed) but the bedrooms (with AC and private access), the terrace with large outdoor dining table, and the pool and garden set amongst the lemon groves, were wonderful.
The secluded location, once you've found the villa up the lemon groves, is great for excursions out and about. 30mins from the airport, 45mins from Taormina, and some beautiful coastal towns with incredible fresh fish restaurants only 10-15mins drive away (Capamulina and Aci Castello).
All in all a really great place to stay, and we all want to say thank you for a lovely trip!
We had a great holiday. The villa is excellent: clean, spacious, big pool and many bedrooms. The scenery is awesome.
Owner`s of the villa were very helpfull and nice.
Both the property and owners were everything expected and more. Beautiful location on the slopes of Mt. Etna, in Acireale, minutes from Catania, roughly an hour from Siracusa and Taormina.
It has four individual (separate lockable doors) suites with at least a queen size bed, some had an additional single, some had two additional singles; all had their own full bath and shower.
One common kitchen/living room and swimming pool with BBQ grill. The kitchen has everything you need to cook and serve full meals. There are also tour books, maps and suggested restaurants/stores to be referenced.
All on a gated property surrounded by lemon orchards. Very relaxing and peaceful.
You will need a car, or at least bicycles to get around, but that's to be expected.
I highly recommend this property, perfect for a family reunion or group vacation.
Hope I can get back soon. Thanks Tiziana!
