Welcome to Villa Sea Glass a new luxury villa located in exclusive Sugar Ridge on a beautiful hill-side overlooking Jolly Harbour and the crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea. We fell in love with the view and knew it was the perfect spot to build a dream vacation home. Not only does the Villa’s position facing West on a hill provides spectacular 180 degree Views (Sunsets included!), but is also provides the house with wonderful cooling trade winds. Take in the vista and enjoy the Caribbean air while you lounge on one of the 8 comfortable sun beds or splash in the generous plunge pool. Villa Seaglass offers a very generous living space, and the main floor is wheelchair accessible which is very rare for villas on the hill side. You may never want to leave the villa, but if you want to explore Jolly Beach, Valley Church Beach, Coco Bay and Dark wood Beaches are only a 5-8 minute drive away. The Villa boasts 2,700 square feet of indoor living space and 2,200 square feet of terraced outdoor living space. There are lovely en-suite bathrooms in each of the four thoughtfully appointed bedrooms (sleeps 8) and the open-plan living area features three huge sliding glass doors that retract fully into the walls allowing for true indoor/outdoor living at its best. The wonderful Location of Villa Seaglass across the street from Jolly Harbour offers many restaurants, grocery shopping, pharmacy, banking, ice cream/coffee shops and much more on your door step. The capital of Antigua, St. John, is only a 10 minute drive away and the airport is a 20 minute drive from the Villa. Guests at Villa Seaglass are free to use the lovely fully equipped gym at Sugar Ridge Hotel and its beautiful, large pool. Sugar Ridge Hotel also offers an Aveda concept Spa and two yummy restaurants. I could go on and on…. but as they say, a picture tells a thousand words…… we would love to welcome you to Villa Seaglass and a fantastic holiday experience!

We wanted to buy a vacation home on a Caribbean island and did our research. We decided to visit Barbados and Antigua in February 2011 and fell in love with the island of Antigua and its authentic Caribbean charm. We love that its a direct flight from the East Coast of the United States and also a direct flight from the UK. This past summer, we went to North Carolina and had a blast picking out all of the lovely new furnishings that make Villa Sea Glass feel like a welcoming home. Some day, we look forward to spending a lot of our retirement in Antigua and we hope to dock a small sail boat in Jolly Harbour one day. You'll probably notice that the kitchen has everything you need to make a lovely meal. I love to cook and am a professional floral designer.
stephanie Haims purchased this villa in 2012
We bought our villa based on its location and an AMAZING view just as the developer had broken ground on the site. We had toured Antigua for a full five days prior, seeing dozens of places. Many were lovely, but the magic really happened when we set foot on the site of what is now Villa Seaglass. The proximity to all the amenities at the Sugar Ridge Hotel and Jolly Harbour, plus the piece of mind of being in a gated community with 24 hour security offered eveything we were looking for and more and did I mention..... The Views!
The first thing I do when I wake up at Villa Seaglass is to open all the sliding glass doors and allow the lovely breezes to stir me awake. Then I put on a large pot of coffee using the local beans roasted on island. I like to make extra for an iced coffee in the afternoon. If I'm up before everyone, I'll grab my book and head out to the swinging hammock chair down in the gazebo. The gym at Sugar Ridge is airconditioned and well-equipped so If I'm being 'good' I'll head over there in my golf cart for an early morning work out. After that, we may check out one of the 365 beaches Antigua has to offer or go on a hike or check out some of the shopping in St John. I'm not a big drinker.. but when I'm in Antigua, 4:30 is frozen drink time at Villa Seaglass. The blender is FANTASTIC and I like to pick up local pinapples, bananas or mangoes at one of the many street vendors and wisk them up into a lovely smoothy or more likely a yummy frozen fruit and rum drink. If I'm in the mood to cook, Epicurean, the grocery store right across the street in Jolly Harbour has everything I may require, or we may check out one of the many lovely restaurants near by. So far my favorite is Sheer Rocks, in Coco Bay Resort (7 minute drive) or for something more casual, you can't beat the burger at Castaways down at Jolly Beach. Hint: If you tell the Jolly Beach Security Booth Guard that you're eating at Castaways, you can park right at the beach.... and who wouldn't want to at least get a drink or a nibble at Castaways? It's a great spot right on the beach!
Villa Sea Glass exceeded our expectations in every way. You really must trust me on this as I have spent years working in hospitality and usually prefer a 5 star hotel. Kid you not, this place delivers! There is not a single amenity that has been overlooked. Stephanie( the owner) was gracious and accommodating from the very beginning. The staff at Sugar Ridge are all terrific and there is a contact person, Pascale who no matter how many times I called picked up immediately and was able to answer my question straight away.
We never made it out of Villa Sea Glass until day 3 because we didn't need to leave. The grocery store Epicurean is at the bottom of the hill and you can easily take a cab back up the hill with your groceries. One day I walked as I didn't have so many and it was a good workout....made me think about New Year's Resolutions for sure. We are a family of 5 with 3 adult daughters. Three of the bedrooms are in the main part of the house and the fourth is a bit more private which was perfect when a boyfriend arrived for a few nights. The kitchen is outfitted with every possible utensil and accoutrement necessary. We arrived to a beautifully decorated Christmas tree which speaks to the thoughtfulness of the owner. There was also some really yummy beer in the fridge. The setting is perfection. The beds are beyond comfortable.....all of them. The overall decor is clean and refreshing without being kitsch. Everything is so well thought out. You are never going to want to leave.
As far as restaurants, I can only recommend two.... Sheer Rocks and Jacquie O's...we went to both of these at least twice. And I think they may be even better for a late lunch and then back to Sea Glass for sunset. Do not waste your time or your $ at Curtain Bluff....and I am going to leave it at that. Catherine's Cafe Plage was also a disappointment for me. We did not rent a car and were glad we didn't because we got to know Glenmore and his son Keanu who took us wherever we needed to go. Sea Glass is perfect for families as well as friend get togethers and would be fantastic for a girls/guys getaway. Lucky you if you get to stay here!
One of the most beautiful houses we've ever stayed at with amazing views and beautiful furnishings in a safe area . The pool is perfect for kids. There were many beautiful beaches within a 15 minute drive. We enjoyed the on site restaurant and sheer rocks is a must do restaurant! We will be back!
We had a great week in Antigua and Sea Glass was the perfect vacation home for our stay on the island. Great location, beautiful and well kept property, and the owner's attention to details made it easy for us to have a wonderful experience. Thank you to the entire Sugar Ridge team for your hospitality and support during our visit.
First and foremost Stephanie is amazing to work with you when renting her home. I have been a VRBO renter for nearly 20 years and I put her in the top 1% that I have worked with over the years. She makes sure your have the best accommodations possible. Villa Sea Glass has the most beautiful view looking over Jolly Harbour. You will end each day around the pool appreciating your stay and relaxing. We would enjoy our days exploring then come back for time around the pool to watch the sunset before diner. The home has everything you will need so just bring yourself and clothes and you are good to go. The grocery is so close and the use of the gym at Sugar Ridge which connects to the villas by a nice path was a plus. All the bedrooms has ensuite bathrooms and the beds are super comfortable with air-conditioning in each bedroom. The breeze is so nice that comes through the main room. Every light and electronic device is labeled so you do not have to spend time figuring anything out. We did bring a Bluetooth speaker to have by the pool for our music but there is music made available inside. We ate breakfast in each day but went out for lunch/dinner exploring the beaches nearby. Fryes Beach (Dennis Beach Bar), Valley Church Beach (The Nest Beach Bar- free beach set-up for Sugar Ridge guests), Loves Beach (Jacqui O's Beach Restaurant with round beach beds). We went over to Long Bay then to Devil's Bridge but it is pretty far away. We rented a car and so glad we did to travel around the island. Picked it up at the airport and Stephanie provides you with great directions to the villa. Upon arrival she had a very nice welcome for us. The staff is so nice and very accommodating.
Restaurants: Sheer Rock a must but make a reservation to have a great table to watch the sunset! (try the grilled scallops and pork belly); Jacqui O's was probably our favorite meal for lunch but plan on getting there early or staying late and rent the beach beds. (Crab salad, ravioli, mahi sandwich a bit pricey BUT worth it); Al Porto for Italian food-the pizza and calamari are amazing. the best calamari I have eaten, so I went again for take-out; Melini's and Miracles are good but the others are my favorite; We had the best burgers by the pool at Sugar Ridge.
Excursion: Extreme Adventures Antigue-loved it! (Stingray City plus you see the entire island, snorkeling ) ; Shirley Heights on Sunday night a must but get there by 5:00 for the best seat for sunset (40 min drive/$8)
This house was beyond wonderful! Every day we would say how much we loved this house. It had everything we needed both inside and out. The furnishings are very nice and the outdoor furniture was of great quality. It was very convenient to have an en suite bathroom for each bedroom. Our kids loved that the main TV had an option to plug in their iPads and watch something on the bigger screen (perfect for the day it rained). The housekeeper that came was very nice and did a very good job. The location of the house was good. It close to several things, with easy access to the main road, but still far enough up the hill to feel like you are away for the busier area below. It was also nicely located on the hill so you didn't overlook any houses and vice versa. Make sure to walk up Sugar Ridge, great views and one heck of workout. The management service was great and even came to see us off. The pool was perfect and I'm not sure who was in it more, adults or kids. Of course I have to finish with how amazing the view is. Breathtaking!!!
A few tips... unless it's sealed put everything in the fridge (ants), rent a car that is AWD (we used Big's Car Rental), take a walk around the property (gorgeous landscaping), go to breakfast at Curtain Bluff, check out Carib Bean coffee roasters, most places are closed during the summer in the English Harbour, take any dry goods you can as food is expensive, and lastly relax.
Eight great friends spent 10 wonderful days at beautiful Sea Glass and had a wonderful time. The villa has all the amenities you need to make your stay pleasurable. The bedrooms are situated so that we all had our own private space and the common rooms and veranda are large and comfortable to accommodate all. The pool and views are showstoppers. The management staff is knowledgeable and always available to help with making recommendations and reservations. The location is perfect with the amenities of Jolly Harbor (and the best grocery store on the island) conveniently located right down the road. Very good restaurants within a few miles. I would recommend a stay at Villa Sea Glass to anyone.
Villa Seaglass is beautifully perched on a hill across the street from Jolly Harbor, in the gated Sugar Ridge Villa community. Check out the lovely local beaches-- Jolly Beach (aprox. 1/2 mile from Villa Seaglass) where you can have a great lunch at Castaways Restaurant or rent a little sail boat or Jet Ski or take a left leaving the Villas and go to Ffreys Beach or Dark Wood Beach each with their own distinct personalities. Whilst at Ffreys make a point of stopping in at Dennis Beach Bar and Restaurant for a tropical drink or lovely fresh food made with a Caribbean flair. It's best to rent a car so you have the freedom to really explore all Antigua has to offer. Like going to Shirley Heights on Sunday nights to take in the sun set, have a nice dinner and enjoy the steel drum music. Don't forget to check out the yachting scene over in English Harbor and whilst there have yummy tapas at 'Trapas' or get some fab Italian food at 'Paparazzi's Restaurant'. Be sure to make a booking so you'll be sure to score a table. I love stopping at the local road-side fruit and vegetable stalls as I'm driving around. The fruit and vegetables are often lovely and much better (and cheaper) than you can buy them at the grocery store. Bring home your lovely tropical fruits and whizz up a delightful frozen drink to enjoy out on the deck!
