Cozy "Tiny House" Cabin Close To Mena, Ar, But Close To National Forest
Sunnybrook Cabin, a “tiny house” With 3 beds, kitchen, full bath, stream, on large shady lot with privacy—near Mena, AR, is in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains.
This sweet little cabin is an original “tiny house,” like on HGTV, very popular and fun. Yet it is large for a tiny house! A kitchen, living room, bath with tub/shower, two lofts, private deck -- all decorated with sunflowers.
You will be cool in summer and warm in winter with our heat and air.
The cabin sits on several wooded acres, near the border of the National Forest, and only about 800 ft. from the County Road 402, which is a picturesque way to ride to Wolfpen Gap, one of the largest trail parks in the state.
We are just 5 minutes from the charming county seat town of Mena, with its nice art district, good antique shops, and old-timey downtown with the original buildings from the time the railroads were built and the town was born. Yet we do have a 24/7 Walmart, a live theater, movie theater, and lots of festivals.
The open concept living room's focal point is the patio door that looks out on the deck and the stream and wooded hillside. We provide a cozy faux woodstove fireplace (it’s electric, an easy way to take the chill off on cool evenings as well as contribute to the cozy ambiance) in addition to gas heat and air.
There is a very comfortable queen-size sealy posturpedic bed in a little private room, and there are two full-size loft beds up ladder or narrow stairway, room for 6 people to stay. The rate is for 2 adults and two children under 12; additional adults are only $10, additional kiddos are just $5.
There is a TV (no cable) with DVD with a selection of movies! Of course, there is Internet access too.
The charming banquette eating area is in the little kitchen which is equipped with full-size refrigerator, regular size stove with oven, microwave, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes, pots and pans. We also stock basic staples such as coffee, sugar, tea, salt and pepper. The local water here is so good you will not want bottled water, and has been tested periodically for safety.
The quiet, paved Polk County Road 42 is good for hiking, biking, or just a leisurely stroll after supper to enjoy nature.
If you like wildlife-watching, just sit outside on your little deck in the morning or maybe at sunset and don't be surprised if you see squirrels and birds watching you. We will keep a supply of feed available to give them a treat. The wooden rocker on the deck is close to the hummingbird feeder, so you get a close-up view of the tiny hummers, and they are quite tame.
As owners, we take pride in keeping the cabin up to your expectations. We have long-term trusted housekeepers who love cleaning the cabin just for you. We have been the owners for 20 years, we live nearby, and our goal is to do all we can to ensure your visit here is pleasant.

Carolyn MacMahon purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why Carolyn MacMahon chose Polk County
This darling "Tiny House" is just like you see on TV. Very unique log-sided cabin, compact, but with everything you need. Close enough to town to pop in for shopping or eating out, but in its own private spot with wooded hills front and back, and a live stream.
What makes this Cabin unique
Close enough to Mena for easy eating out or shopping, yet you can ride or walk into the National Forest right from the cabin. There is a live stream, big shade trees, grassy area room to kick a ball, enjoy the view of wooded hillside. Privacy, yet close enough to walk to other cabins if you come with others who rent Woodhaven or Maple Glen RV.

The Cabin was great, the Hostess and family were phenomenal!
Sunnybrook Cabin was a great base station for us. It was just the 2 of us, so the space was just right. If you have kids, it will work, too, with the 2 loft areas for extra sleeping room. We enjoyed the notes that are present to help with the heater, the lighting and any other question you may have. In some ways it seems isolated so you feel one with nature, yet there are homes nearby too, so you don't feel completely out of touch.
Since our motorcycle decided not to start, we were happy to walk into town and considered it an adventure! The people in Mena are very friendly and happy to help out. Carolyn and her family went far and above our expectations in assisting us to get back on the road again, we are forever grateful!
We hope to return and try one of the other cabins she has - maybe next year.
This was a brave and delightful couple who we learned walked several miles into town when they needed a part. We wished we had known sooner, as it would have been no trouble to give them a ride. Thanks for being such thoughtful guests!
Cute tiny home
The owners are great. Met us as soon as we got there to welcome us and show us around. Unfortunately we were only there for the night, but I would like to try it again under better circumstances.
Has everything you need and it's a short distance to all the little shops!
The owner's are very accommodating! We will come back!
Sunnybrook was like a sigh and a warm blanket.
The owners are so courteous and welcoming and the property is everything it is advertised to be. My son and I enjoyed 4 days and 3 nights of warmth, peace, hiking, and relaxing. We played games, and worked puzzles and followed the suggestions in the book that Tom and Carolyn had for guests to use in finding activities in the area. We ate at the Chopping Block and the Branding Iron (both were wonderful), visited Cossatok falls (my son fell in the water twice and I dropped my phone in the deepest part but it was still a great time), and drove up the mountain to Queen Wilehmenia lodge and saw the views. Levi didn't want to leave. He loved the lofts and expended a great deal of energy going up and down the stairs/ladder to the lofts. This was so much better than a hotel and so warm of a place in the decoration and appeal. I look for us to be back.
Thanks for the great words! Glad you and Levi enjoyed your trip.
Tiny, warm and comfy... Perfect for the weekend
Excellent amenities and very well poised in terms of distance from key attractions
We loved having you as a guest!
What a gem!
It's small but perfect for two. Just far enough out of town that you are in the quite of the country, but close enough to be anywhere in town in a few minutes.
The stream out back is very calming when sitting on the back porch in the evenings. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because there is no television reception, but it is clear about that in the ad. We will definitely stay here again when traveling without our pets as they don't allow them.
Try this one for a quiet peaceful stay.
We are always delighted when our guests tell us they had a good experience at our little Sunnybrook Cabin. The fall colors on the wooded hillside beyond the stream will soon double the enjoyment too, so come again soon! (About TV--many of our guests say they were lost without TV at first, but they talked, sat together on the bench by the stream, took walks, and enjoyed each other's company in ways they had forgotten. It is part of our country stay memories. And there always is WIFI if you have to interrupt your peace to check on the world once in awhile. )
Located in the center of lots of outdoor and indoor activities, you can have a vacation to remember. You can ride your ATV from the cabin through the Ouachita National Forest about 7 miles to the WolfPen Gap trails; or trailer ATV and take highway to the Wolfpen Gap trails. Mena is just 5 minutes away, and has antiques, art district, old-time hardware, theater (live in season), library, family fun driving park, as well as swimming, fishing, biking, hiking and sightseeing. To the east are the famous Hot Springs (1 hr 20 min), Crater of diamonds (1 hr), to the north is the unique Hanging Judge museum (1 hr 30 min). To the west is beautiful Rich mountain, with breathtaking views over Oklahoma and Arkansas.
