Quaint home nestled in the beautiful mountains of Jim Thorpe

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I rode our bikes approx. 27 miles from Whitehaven to this property along the Lehigh river on the path and were greeted by Andre and his mom Larisa who could not have been sweeter. They made us homemade vegetable soup and chocolate banana cake that was so delicious. We stayed in the room on the 3rd floor and it was perfect. The home has been remodeled by Andre and is lovely. We woke up to fresh coffee and bagels and felt like we were at home with them. They were very kind and fun to talk to. The town of Jim Thorpe is absolutely adorable..the overall experience is one of my favorite weekends! Thank you for your hospitality and we hope our paths cross again :) Chuck and Melissa

Not a private rental – more of a B&B or hostel feel.

  • 4 of 5

The hostess was very sweet, and served a delicious tomato borscht and chocolate banana cake when we arrived, and practiced her English on us – I only wish I had some Russian ability! From previous reviews, I had thought we could borrow bicycles, but that didn't appear to be the case. There was a bit of a language barrier. No big deal. Right behind the house is a Greenway that leads to the switchback trail. The house is set up as separate rental rooms with a shared bathroom. The attic room we stayed in did not have a door, I don't think. (not a big deal for us). The narrow stairway leading to the room did not have a railing, and there was no bannister around the opening in the attic floor, which make me a bit nervous. Bedroom has a single bed and a double bed, bathroom is downstairs. We left very early, and because we were heading straight to a triathlon, we couldn't eat, so were unable to enjoy the breakfast she offered, but she got up crazy early to see us off anyway and give us some juicy apples to start our day.

Very authentic stay we will remember!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a nice experience staying with this lovely family! The atmosphere was great, the house and the room were clean. We had everything we needed! Larisa and Andrew were very supportive, sharing all tricks and "hidden" places around. The neighborhood is very quite, you can hear birds singing. We loved everything! I wish we could stay longer! Thank you guys for hosting our family!

Very Personable Place

  • 4 of 5

We were made to feel welcome from start to finish. Our hostess was very gracious and friendly, as is her son. It's a lovely home in a lovelier town, especially if you are interested in hiking and biking!

My son and I attended opening night of the 1st Annual Jim Thorpe Independent Film Festival, kudos to everyone involved with that project, well done.

P.S. You will be treated to a scrumptious authentic Russian dish upon arrival, perfect after a day of biking on the D&L Trail in Leigh Gorge State Park.
