'Elbow Room' is the best description for the Kentucky Lake Hideaway!
We have done a number of updates including some furniture, paint, all new carpet except the basement and a new deck. We have more new pictures coming soon.
We have a favorite saying - If you are lucky enough to be at the lake, you are lucky enough!
This is our home. We feel very fortunate to have it and enjoy sharing all the relaxation, joy and memories that it brings to all that visit. We simply ask that you treat it as yours and respect and care for it as you would your own.
The property is on three acres of its own and is surrounded around the side and back with approximately another 40+ acres of undeveloped land allowing for plenty of elbow room for people and animals. There is much wildlife that calls the area home. The address for the home is Gilbertsville, KY and it is located on Little Bear Bay just north of Big Bear Bay.
There are only three homes on our road and the other two homes are seldom used. We do have a wonderful neighbor across the draw who keeps an eye on things when we are not around.
Unlike a majority of the lake where there is a cliff or tons of stairs to climb, there is a gradual trail to our private boat dock with electricity, a fish cleaning station and a swim platform with chairs. For your enjoyment, we also have a scanoe which is a slightly wider, more stable style of canoe with two paddles that is kept down by the dock for our guests.
Our property is most of the way back in the bay so you have very little lake traffic with the exception of some skiing and tubing during the summer. We have year-round water at the dock. I have a deep-V fishing boat and even at winter pool we have enough water to use the dock. If you have always wished that you could enjoy the great fishing that happens through the fall, winter and early spring, drop your boat in the water when you arrive and take it out when you leave. Your getaway is much more enjoyable when you are not wrestling with putting the boat in and taking it out each day or paying extra to leave it at a marina.
If you enjoy fishing, you will enjoy your time here. Little Bear Creek is a very popular and productive fishing bay. It rates above most of the area scores in the TVA Sport Fishing Index Ratings for black bass, largemouth bass and white crappie. There is also great fishing for catfish in the entire bay. In the late spring and summer months the area is full of bluegill and sunfish. The yellow bass is a lesser known and sought after fish but one of my favorites for a fish dinner. While they may not be large, they are plentiful.
From the dock you can easily fish the immediate area, find a favorite spot on the main lake, take a quick trip down to Moors Marina or up to Kentucky Dam Marina, run across the lake to the canal, where the sauger and saugeye like to hang out, and into Lake Barkley or zip across the lake to the quarry or the rope swing. If you are in the mood for a longer sight seeing trip, you can enjoy the scenery all the way south into Tennessee. Land Between the Lakes offers many options for the outdoor enthusiast.
Come to the lake and enjoy the wildlife. There are always a lot of beautiful birds and waterfowl on the water. If its not too busy about the house the deer will be around and from spring through fall the humming birds will perform their impressive manuevers. Let the birds sing to you during the day and the frogs serenade you each evening.
We don't accept credit cards due to the expense. We simply have you mail a check(s). Please contact us for details and to make a reservation.
Have a great day.

About Tim Beckett
This section is to be about the owner but really you are interested in my home and not me. What you need to know about me is that I searched for several years before purchasing this home. I love the home and the area. It is a very calming and relaxing place to enjoy life for whatever length of time you are here. It is peaceful and is not a party house or location. I enjoy sharing my home with friends and family but I do expect that you will respect and care for it during your stay.
Why Tim Beckett chose Gilbertsville
This is one of the best locations on the lake. We searched for years before purchasing this property. We wanted a home that did not have that subdivision feel but rather the feel of freedom and space. While there are a couple of neighbors, there are not dozens of houses nor tons of docks and boat traffic. It was imperative that the property include a boat dock that you didn't have to go down dozens of stairs or a cliff to access and that it had year-round water. We feel very fortunate and hope that you enjoy the property as much as we enjoy it.
What makes this House unique
The house, the property and the entire region have a relaxing, magical potion that just makes you feel good. Take a moment to smell the roses as they say and listen to the birds and the frogs. Watch all the wildlife, the herons fishing along the banks, the eagles and hawks circling above and the honking of the geese. While you feel like you have certainly 'gotten away' from it all, you are still only minutes from most anything you might want or need. When you turn off Hwy 68 onto Moors Road to come to the house, be sure to stop at the produce stand and get fresh picked fruits, vegetables and great melons. Even when they are not there to man the stand, there is still produce from which to choose and a box where you can leave your payment. Yes, there are still places like this in the world. Come and enjoy.

Amazing Labor Day weekend at Kentucky Lake.
The house was beautiful. We had four generations of family with 12 people including a 1 year old and a 3 year old. There was plenty of room for all and plenty of nice places to sleep comfortably. The kitchen was well stocked. We cooked in every meal except one when we visited the Catfish Kitchen for some great fish. The back deck was great and we spent much time there when not boating. The boat dock was easy to use, but we did not use the fish cleaning station since we didn't catch any fish. It was set up nicely. We did use the fire pit and enjoyed s'mores by the fire. Thank you so much, Tim Beckett, for allowing us to share your beautiful home. We will be looking forward to staying here again.
The Sharp Family
Great place! Will definitely book again!
Lovely home and boat dock.
The house was perfectly arranged for our family get together. Grand parents had the upstairs room and bath to themselves, grandsons enjoyed the basement area for sleeping, television and playing without making the adults crazy. Each of the other couples had their own room and we all joined in for meals at the kitchen table or on the deck. We took advantage of the grill on the deck and the well equipped kitchen for most of our meals and used the washer and dryer daily to keep our beach towels ready for swimming down at the dock where we kept our pontoon boat and even paddled around a bit in the canoe provided.
Most mornings we saw deer on the lawn and most evenings we had a fire in the pit . The only downside to the property is the steep graveled path from the house down to the lake. We solved that problem with a golf cart. The owner was accommodating and answered any questions promptly. We had the misfortune of a tree falling across the walkway to the dock early in our stay but it was repaired in just a few days. All in all, a very nice rental.
Great Family Get Away
The whole family enjoyed the get away where they were able to swim, tube and fish! The house is great for everyone to be together to cook, eat and play games. It also was perfect for 6 teens to play video games without adults. The adults enjoyed movies the teens had already seen without interruption. Sleeping areas were great and the convenience of baths on each level was great. We put our boat in at a close marina and enjoyed the docking area. The teens swam there on one side while others fished from the dock. Then the boat could be used to fish other areas of the lake or to pull the screamers on the tube. However we felt the path to the dock was not fully explained. It is steep, rocky and difficult to navigate since I have trouble walking from my handicap. Also my husband suffers from bad knees so he only made one trip a day usually. I was only at the dock part of two days out of six and had to be helped by family members. Fishing was pretty good and I did my share in my two trips!
House I nice and clean. We had 10 people and the house had plenty of space. The owner was very quick to reply to any questions.
We had a group stay for a long weekend And it was as advertised. We had a great time and had everything we needed including power at the dock. Tim was easy to work with and quick to respond with any questions.
Located in Little Bear Creek Bay on Kentucky Lake. Little Bear is known as one of the best fishing areas on the lake. While you are here you will have a deck with a gas grill, a covered boat dock with electricity and a swim platform. You are close to all that Land Between the Lakes (LBL) has to offer. The activities in the area are almost limitless. You are approximately 30 minutes from both Paducah and Murray. Murray is home to Murray State College and Paducah is famous for the quilt festival. There are too many things to do and see to list. Come to explore or come to enjoy the peace and quiet. If you are lucky enough to be at the lake, you are lucky enough!
