Welcome to Ships Watch! Home sleeps Up to 7 Guests

Ask our Reservationists about two days for the price of one admission tickets to the Monterey Bay Aquarium when you book this home!

This lovely Victorian home in Pacific Grove harkens back to Monterey Bay’s past as a shipping and fishing port, with vintage nautical touches and coastal artifacts that will make guests feel as though they’ve stepped back in time.

At the same time, the 4-bedroom, 2-bath home has been extensively remodeled with modern conveniences and a spacious yard that’s perfect for barbecuing and entertaining.

Its location is also ideal for enjoying the wonders of Pacific Grove — it’s just a few steps from shopping and dining in the quaint downtown, or a 10-minute walk to the beach or to the butterfly groves. It’s also only 5 minutes by car to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row, 10 minutes to shopping in Carmel-by-the-Sea, and 15 minutes to golf and fine dining in Pebble Beach.

Windows and skylights throughout the home bring in warm natural light as well as offering great views of Monterey Bay from the upper story.

The 1,400-square-foot two-story home, built in 1890, has been completely refurbished for guests’ comfort, with a nautical color scheme in reds, blues and tans, vintage furniture, a window seat in the front room’s bay window, a fully equipped kitchen and a backyard fenced for privacy, which includes a hand-laid flagstone patio.

Upon your arrival you will be greeted with complimentary wine and cheese, tickets for a wine tasting at Scheid Vineyards’ tasting room in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and a basket of local information. An assigned concierge vacation house manager is available to assist you during your stay. We have also provided spa amenities in the bathrooms, spa robes and beach gear.

The pet-friendly home features a cozy front room with a gas fireplace featuring hand painted tile, where games and books will keep guests entertained on evenings around the fire. A 50-inch HDTV is available over the fireplace, and an adjacent sitting area with chaise lounge and console table is another place to curl up with a good book.

The large dining room table seats 8 on slip covered parson’s chairs, and the updated kitchen includes taupe tile floors, quartz composite counter tops, new appliances that include a gas range, and a deep porcelain farmhouse sink with goose neck faucet.

The downstairs master bedroom, decorated in the same vintage nautical theme, contains a queen bed, and the nearby bathroom has a large custom-tiled shower in ocean colors as well as an adjustable shower head.

The second floor features three bedrooms and a bathroom, as well as a children’s play area with beanbag chairs and a TV with DVD player. The bathroom features vintage tile floors and a pedestal sink as well as an old-fashioned claw foot bathtub to which an adjustable shower head has been added.

The backyard contains an outdoor kitchen with plumbed gourmet gas grill and granite counter top for food preparation and serving. Guests can enjoy evenings under the cypress trees around a fire pit, and find serenity in the sound of a built-in waterfall. A note regarding the yard: Guests are asked to keep voices at a respectful volume at all times and to bring outdoor conversations/activities inside by 9pm due to the close proximity of nearby neighbors who are sensitive to noise.

A one-car garage with bonus room for beach gear is available as well, in addition to street parking.

**There is an additional fee for pets**

Great property near downtown

  • 5 of 5

House was very clean and welcoming with lots of themed decorations.

The updated kitchen was nice, and we had plenty of room to sit and dine (party of 5).

Short drive to downtown, the beach, Monterey etc so it was super convenient.

Quick communication, and seamless booking / instructions process.

Delightful home for a family gathering

  • 5 of 5

Perfect home for a family gathering; we loved sitting outside by the fire, eating meals around the lovely dining table and gathering in the living room. The house was equipped with thoughtful amenities and very comfortable. Great location to many options for exploring.

What a lovely, welcoming place!

  • 5 of 5

The hosts really put in the extra effort to make this home welcoming and charming. When we arrived, the electric candles were on and there was delicious cheese awaiting us in the fridge! Everything was clean and cozy and the location is great. This is an easy walk to the beach and Lover's Point. There are also a dozen restaurants within a five minute stroll.

As for the house, the pictures show pretty much everything you need to know. It would probably be most comfortable if all four bedrooms don't need to be utilized as the two on the top floor are very close together and the three upstairs all share one bathroom. But we had all bedrooms filled and still had a great time. The kitchen is lovely, too, very nicely updated without sacrificing the old-time charm of the house.

We'd definitely visit again!

Charming for a older building

  • 3 of 5

The property was nice well decorated had everything we needed.

Close to town and restaurants.

It was cold while we were there, took awhile to heat the property. I feel the vents needed to

be changed.

The DVR did not work, rented a movie spent two hours trying to get DVD/DVR to work.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We are sorry that you experienced difficulties during your stay. The DVR and the accompanying instructions were checked after your departure and both were found to be in order. We are also sorry to hear that you felt the heating system is inadequate especially as the owners have ensured there are heaters in every bedroom and a working fireplace to accompany the central heating system. Your house manager will be reaching out to you shortly to gain a better understanding of these issues. Thank you again for your review, we appreciate all comments so that we may improve our service and homes.

Great place lots of charm comfortable beds and towels real close to town

  • 5 of 5

Great older home. Fixed up nicely and exquisitely decorated. Perfect location for walks to town and to the water. Beds and pillows and towels were super comfortable. Enjoyed a birthday party in the outside entertainment area around the fireplace. Definitely made our first trip to California as a family feel more like being home away from home. Thank you.

A Weekend in Pacific Grove

  • 4 of 5

We had a delightful weekend at Ship's Watch in Pacific Grove. The listing was accurate in describing the location, layout and amenities. The house itself was clean, well maintained and cozy. We especially enjoyed walking to the beach, Cannery Row and restaurants. Our three night stay was not long enough! I have recommended this property to relatives and friends, and we are planning to return.

Ship's Watch is a charming retreat.
