Beautiful rustic cabin tucked away on 19 acres, surrounding the Chattahoochee National Forest. Close to the Toccoa River offering fly fishing, tubing, kayaking and much more. Minutes from Lake Blue Ridge which offers boating, waterskiing, jetskiing, fishing, swimming and camping. Go hiking on the Appalachian Trail or go hunting in the forest during season. Whatever you desire from nature, we can accommodate!
This property has been in our family for 18 yrs. We bought it for the seclusion and tranquility it offers. We are working class Americans like anyone else, and wish to share our lodge with others who seek to get away from it all.
Mary O'Neal purchased this lodge in 1994
Spacious home. But my wife spent a long time cleaning kitchen... Filthy countertops, microwave, food in sink. Grease all over stove & syrup. Downstairs shower w pubic hair. Upstairs fecal material on toilet. Outside trash can never emptied w maggots. Called owner He said turnover was quick w housekeeping. But w check out @ 11 and check in @ 4 That's 5 hrs to clean
We had a wonderful weekend with our family here. We had 13 people including three young children. It is worth the 15+ mile drive from Blue Ridge, including over a mile and a half on a gravel narrow road and fording a stream if you are wanting to get away from it all. We had some issues with the house. The handle on the front door was off. My husband would have fixed it but part of it was missing. The information listed on the site is not correct on the bathrooms or the beds in each room. There is not a room with two full beds. One of the bedrooms has the bunk bed with a full on the bottom and a twin on the top and there is another bed in that room. The other four bedrooms have a bed for two people, full or king. Two of the rooms have no air vents for air. There is only ONE shower. The kitchen is not well stocked. The pots need to be thrown away and replaced. There were no mixing bowls and not adequate silverware for that large of home. The bar refrigerator would not close because of the ice in the freezer section. Granted a previous renter probably left it open. We had no wifi service or phone service in the house. Also, there is other rental property on the lot that shares the driveway and parking. The garbage bin was full of rotten garbage so we had to leave ours in the laundry room. Would we stay here again? Yes, the kids enjoyed playing in the creek and fishing, although we did not catch anything. It is quiet and restful with plenty of blankets for cold nights. The two dens allowed for quiet conversation, games, with plenty of room to spread out. We took a trip with the Blue Ridge Railway but the rest of the weekend was spent at the house. Wonderful qualtiy family time!
We spent a week in this house and had an amazing time. It was a very quiet place. Even though the picture looked very gloomy on the website, the house was very comfortable. There was good wifi in the house. It was very hard to find the house at first, the phone gps gave up halfway to the location of the house, but the vehicle gps guided us all the way up to the house. Since the owner lives not to far from the house, it would be better of him guiding you to the house. The owner, Robert, was a very friendly person to assist us with everything.Over all we had a very good experience in this house. We would be glad to come back again.
We had 16 family members at the cabin for three nights. The cabin accommodated us well. The children loved the yard and pond. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay.
I will definitely return to this beautiful place within the N. GA mountains.
I stayed here with my husband, our two boys, my sister, and our dog. There was plenty of room for everyone, though my sister was disappointed that there was only one shower. (One bathroom just had a spa tub.) We had an issue with the water when we first arrived, but Robert and Michelle resolved it in a timely manner, and it did not take away from the enjoyment of the weekend.
Getting to this house involves driving along a long, winding, and sometimes narrow gravel road. Just before you reach their house, you have to cross a small creek. Know that and expect it ahead of time, but do not let those things prevent you from letting yourself escape here. The views that surround the home are too beautiful to miss. The area is private and peaceful, with a small lake/pond, a creek, and little walking paths. My husband ventured out by foot and found the Benton MacKaye Trail.
The listing description and the photos are accurate. The house is rustic, but it is well maintained. The location is not super convenient to grocery stories and downtown Blue Ridge, there is limited cell phone/wifi service, and the TV leaves a bit to be desired, but we didn't book this place so we could go to stores, town, access the internet, or watch TV. We booked this place to escape and find peace, and we found it. We also found horse shoes, badminton, air hockey, a small pool table, a nice fire 'pit', tons of birds (including a turkey), deer, and fresh air. Bring some extra outdoor chairs, because - weather permitting - that is where you'll want to spend most of your time.
Thank you Robert and Michelle for sharing your place with us. We look forward to returning.
Imagine having 19 acres of woodland that backs up to the Chattahoochee National Forest. This property has a stocked fishing pond with concrete BBQ area and brick grill overlooking beautiful Weeks Creek just feet away. Take time to explore our private hiking trail through the forest. Venture over to the fish hatchery to see rainbow trout or fly fish Coopers Creek, take a ride tubing or kayaking on the nearby Toccoa River. Check out the nearby Swinging Bridge on the Appalachian Trail. Visit us in the fall to see the most brilliant display of fall foliage that North Georgia has to offer. Check us out in the spring to view our beautiful waterfalls and spring growth such as daffodils and dogwoods. Simply driving our scenic highways you will find an abundance of turkey, deer, black bear, ocelot, ground hogs and much more. You'll have to see it to believe the majesty and tranquility of these mountains!
