Beautiful rustic cabin tucked away on 19 acres, surrounding the Chattahoochee National Forest. Close to the Toccoa River offering fly fishing, tubing, kayaking and much more. Minutes from Lake Blue Ridge which offers boating, waterskiing, jetskiing, fishing, swimming and camping. Go hiking on the Appalachian Trail or go hunting in the forest during season. Whatever you desire from nature, we can accommodate!
This property has been in our family for 18 yrs. We bought it for the seclusion and tranquility it offers. We are working class Americans like anyone else, and wish to share our lodge with others who seek to get away from it all.
Mary O'Neal purchased this lodge in 1994
Ok, where do I start. This rental does have potential if managed correctly. it has alot of space and we had adequate rooms. It was a long way from town, no cell phone service but Wi-fi. Stocked well with toilietries. We were not aware that other rentals were right there on the same property. The guests next to us just had to deal with 20 rude tenants before us. The cleaning was much to be desired. Bathroom sinks not cleaned, Didn't look swept or mopped. I cleaned up pet pee from previous guests. Dirty stained offwhite carpet. Vacuum cleaner bag full so it wouldn't pick up. Dirty sheets thrown in cluttered closets, hope ours were clean. Torn and missing screens. Nice back patio with fire pit but had to sweep off first. Nice pond but no poles. Charged double for pet fee. Nice fireplaces but no wood. List of chores for us to do before we checked out, their job I feel beings we paid a cleaning fee when it was not completely clean for us. Plus on the list it said at the bottom "no refunds for housekeeping issues", so they knew their was a problem, also previous complaints about cleanliness on other reviews. Being cleaned by owner we were told. No outside trash can for your garbage. laundry facilities which was nice. We feel they don't care if people return after first visit. This rental does have potential but does need some work and a good cleaning, especially after previous quests. We did visit 2 waterfalls while there and gem mined one day. Would we recommend or re-visit, NO we would not. Quality not what you pay for in our opinion.
Blankets, tv was old and only one however the caretaker was very accommodating and the owner was responsive .
Our family stayed here for the week of Thanksgiving and we had a great time! The location is very secluded and the first time we took the road back to the house we wondered what we were in for, but it turned out to be an awesome place! The road to get back to the house is a narrow, winding dirt road so be prepared that your car is going to be filthy during your stay! :-) There is no cell service on the way back to the house so make sure you call ahead for help to get to the house or set your GPS while you have service. We used our iPhone and it worked perfectly. The house itself has lots of space to spread out. The pictures really are deceiving, but in a good way. The major drawback that we were concerned about before arriving was the fact that there were only two bathrooms and only one of those bathrooms had a shower (the other has a jacuzzi tub), however, it turned out not to be an issue for our family. Just know that the upstairs bathroom is in a bedroom so the other upstairs bedroom either has to go downstairs or access the other bedroom to use the bathroom. There are two bedrooms upstairs and three downstairs. The kitchen was well stocked and the pots and pans were brand new. There is lots more counter space to work on that what it looks like in the pictures. There are two coffee makers which was nice. We used one for coffee and one for hot water. The wifi worked great for us all week. The outdoor space was great! We used the outdoor fire pit almost every night. The property is very large with room for the kids to run around. The website did say that there was another cabin on the property but be aware that it is literally next door to the lodge. Luckily, there was no one staying there until the last two days of our stay. I would say that would be a deal breaker for me if I knew that there would be others staying so closely the whole time we were there but it worked out fine for us. If you're looking for a place that's close to town and shopping then this is not the place for you, however, if you're looking to get away from it all and have room to spread out and enjoy the great outdoors then this is the place for you!!! Our family would definitely stay here again.
Spacious home. But my wife spent a long time cleaning kitchen... Filthy countertops, microwave, food in sink. Grease all over stove & syrup. Downstairs shower w pubic hair. Upstairs fecal material on toilet. Outside trash can never emptied w maggots. Called owner He said turnover was quick w housekeeping. But w check out @ 11 and check in @ 4 That's 5 hrs to clean
We had a wonderful weekend with our family here. We had 13 people including three young children. It is worth the 15+ mile drive from Blue Ridge, including over a mile and a half on a gravel narrow road and fording a stream if you are wanting to get away from it all. We had some issues with the house. The handle on the front door was off. My husband would have fixed it but part of it was missing. The information listed on the site is not correct on the bathrooms or the beds in each room. There is not a room with two full beds. One of the bedrooms has the bunk bed with a full on the bottom and a twin on the top and there is another bed in that room. The other four bedrooms have a bed for two people, full or king. Two of the rooms have no air vents for air. There is only ONE shower. The kitchen is not well stocked. The pots need to be thrown away and replaced. There were no mixing bowls and not adequate silverware for that large of home. The bar refrigerator would not close because of the ice in the freezer section. Granted a previous renter probably left it open. We had no wifi service or phone service in the house. Also, there is other rental property on the lot that shares the driveway and parking. The garbage bin was full of rotten garbage so we had to leave ours in the laundry room. Would we stay here again? Yes, the kids enjoyed playing in the creek and fishing, although we did not catch anything. It is quiet and restful with plenty of blankets for cold nights. The two dens allowed for quiet conversation, games, with plenty of room to spread out. We took a trip with the Blue Ridge Railway but the rest of the weekend was spent at the house. Wonderful qualtiy family time!
We spent a week in this house and had an amazing time. It was a very quiet place. Even though the picture looked very gloomy on the website, the house was very comfortable. There was good wifi in the house. It was very hard to find the house at first, the phone gps gave up halfway to the location of the house, but the vehicle gps guided us all the way up to the house. Since the owner lives not to far from the house, it would be better of him guiding you to the house. The owner, Robert, was a very friendly person to assist us with everything.Over all we had a very good experience in this house. We would be glad to come back again.
Imagine having 19 acres of woodland that backs up to the Chattahoochee National Forest. This property has a stocked fishing pond with concrete BBQ area and brick grill overlooking beautiful Weeks Creek just feet away. Take time to explore our private hiking trail through the forest. Venture over to the fish hatchery to see rainbow trout or fly fish Coopers Creek, take a ride tubing or kayaking on the nearby Toccoa River. Check out the nearby Swinging Bridge on the Appalachian Trail. Visit us in the fall to see the most brilliant display of fall foliage that North Georgia has to offer. Check us out in the spring to view our beautiful waterfalls and spring growth such as daffodils and dogwoods. Simply driving our scenic highways you will find an abundance of turkey, deer, black bear, ocelot, ground hogs and much more. You'll have to see it to believe the majesty and tranquility of these mountains!
