At the end of the day, enjoy a relaxing drink on the balcony, taking full advantage of the wonderful view of North River. (it's not really a river...it's a vast view facing Shakleford banks!) We used to live in Atlantic Beach on Bogue Sound. While we loved it for many years, we yearned for more acres and privacy. John and his friend Ron discovered this beautiful property and we all knew we were destined to build here! We did, and our children were in high school/middle school at the time. We love the privacy and being so far away from reality, but in fact, wthin 6 miles of a beautiful town, Beaufort! As well as 7 miles from the fishing village of Harker's Island! We couldn't have animals other than cats or dogs in Atlantic Beach, but out here we have a mini horse, and 2 goats that love to be petted and fed carrots and apples! Our 4 chickens love attention! Our 2 dogs, an old, gentle golden retriever, and a frisky pound puppy, can either stay at the house or we will relocate them. They love going swimming with you!!! Great for kids that love animals!!! We will be in charge of their care, so no worries there! :)
Pam and John Flynn purchased this house in 1998
Peaceful, serene, secluded location, panoramic view of North River, which connects to the Atlantic Ocean, 'God's Country', open floorplan with tropical colors, plenty of room for large family gatherings
Escaping reality, enjoying nature at its best!! Private sandy beach...Water view from most rooms...being near so many awesome restaurants, coastal points of interest, Cape Lookout, Beaufort, Harkers Island, the Ocracoke ferry, the NC Aquarium, the Atlantic Ocean, etc etc etc!
Killer views from this great home. We were in town for a wedding and the house had everything we needed for a big crew. In addition there is the added bonus of water toys and the resident animals. Great spot with super great owners. Pam and John were fantastic and responsive owners that wanted our stay to be memorable...of which it was!!! You will not go wrong renting this hidden gem.
We had 11 family members, ages 1 to 60+, stay here for a family wedding in nearby Harkers Island. This home was perfect for our reunion! Beautiful inside and out! The kitchen was extremely well stocked, the dining area perfect for a large group, and the living room and deck ideal for hanging out. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and well stocked with linens. Most of the rooms had views of the water. While we did not take advantage of some of the activities, we were impressed that there were game tables, basketball hoop, kayaks, bikes, water shoes and a number of other items that many families would appreciate. There were also some toys for toddlers that my kids enjoyed. Plus the animals - so fun for the kids!
We also cannot say enough nice things about the owners Pam and John! We requested a few accommodations for our young children and they were happy to help. They were warm and welcoming and Pam makes a great cake!
Cannot recommend this home enough! It would be great for a family reunion, weekend retreat, etc. We would happily stay here again! Thanks Pam & John!
Everything about this house was just wonderful! Everything and more than we expected! It was perfect for our big family, including 6 adults, 6 kids and a baby. There was a room with a crib and even a small loft that the kids loved going up to. The kids looked forward to feeding the animals each day and they caught their own hermit crabs right from the beach. The kayaks were super fun for kids and adults and the huge porch was a perfect spot to take a nap on the oversized hammock. All you really need to bring is a bathing suit (I'll pack much lighter next time) because all needed amenities like towels, kitchen utensils, shampoo, trash bags and paper towels are all available. Definitely a hidden treasure and we all look forward to returning! Thank you Pam and John for a wonderful stay and your fantastic hospitality!
Thank you Pam and John for the chance to rent your fabulous beachside home. The house was exactly as listed and more. Our families had a blast with all the activities and amenities. Even though we couldn't do much about the heat wave we had during that week, the beach was perfectly kid friendly and the home had plenty for us to do while staying cool inside. On top of all that, the nearby stable with the donkey, goat and horse made for a mini-petting zoo the kids absolutely adored. Thanks again for a wonderful experience!
We loved staying here and definetely want to come back! The Flynns are extrememly hospitable and if there is anything wrong with the house they fix it right away. Perfect location and great space to hangout!
Plan to go back asap.
