About Ken

Having traveled moderately in my career, I wanted to create a unique lodging experience for guests, with those things typically absent in my hotel stays, including:

Unquestionably freshly laundered linens and comforters; adequate electronic connectivity; reliable high-speed internet; a hamper and liner for collecting and transporting worn laundry; laundered house robes, a loaner umbrella; and a spa-grade bathroom area.

While our rates may be slightly higher than other properties, it comes with a high degree of privacy, comfort and cleanliness.

About Us:

We (Dave and Ken) migrated from the Chicago and New Haven areas 17 years ago and moved to Tampa. Ken served as Director for Information Technology for a large non-profit, and Dave, first as a techie, turned mortgage underwriter.

Settling first in the Tampa's Carrollwood suburb we opted to return to the city's core three years ago where we took on the task of rehabbing our investment property of ten years into a permanent home. We love the location and urban feel of living just north of downtown.

Ken purchased this house in 2003

Why Ken chose Tampa

A quaint Tampa Heights neighborhood undergoing significant gentrification in recent years; where neighbors know one another and large oak trees canopy much of the area. A convenience store is located across the street for sundries and snacks. Tampa's weather and nearby attractions make it a great destination for business travel or a getaway weekend.

As the oldest neighborhood in Tampa Heights, it is culturally diverse, inhabited by mostly working class families, and includes some older homes in need of repair. If you like eclectic, urban neighborhoods, with lots of ethnic restaurants and conveniences, this is a great place to stay. The owners have lived here for 15 years, know their neighbors, and have never had any security or safety issues.

The home, built in 1923, was scheduled for demolition in 2003. We purchased it in early 2004, completed improvements, and it served as a rental property until 2012. Construction for the new space began in 2013 when we added the guest wing and completed other upgrades.

Come enjoy our great weather and wicked awesome hospitality!

We are LGBTQ affirming property hosts.

I can't decide which is better, the room or the owners! From the first communication, Ken was responsive and great to work with. The room is decorated perfectly and very comfortable. Every detail is covered. I have a very relaxing stay and will definitely be back!

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

We highly recommend anyone to stay at this beautiful home. There was attention paid to every detail in the planning and execution of this property. The shower/restroom area is just like a spa, so comforting. The deck and patio is tastefully decorated with comfy chairs and very nice landscaping; not unlike a little oasis to get away from it all. Ken and Dan were gracious hosts and very helpful with restaurant and local attraction suggestions.

Fantastic

Ken made us feel so welcome and right at home. The suite is cozy and extremely clean. Could not have found better accommodations so close to downtown at an affordable price. We hope to visit again. Thank you Ken for your hospitality.

Great location, Spacious suite!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent the weekend and it was perfect in every way. The room was spacious and the shower was awesome. The ability to be able to use the kitchen, nook and living room allowed us to spread out on the kitchen island for several hours and plan our 2018 trip to Yellowstone. The suite opens onto a back deck where we spent a great deal of time overlooking Ken's wonderful garden filled with birds and butterflies. It is very convenient to Ybor City and Downtown Tampa. We would highly recommend this bungalow suite and have put it on our list to return to in the future. Thanks again to our hosts for a stress-free weekend. It was just what we needed.
