Secluded location, 5 km from Seillans village, 4 bedrooms/ sleeps 7, 4 bathrooms

Le Rayol is a carefully renovated natural stone villa standing in 15 acres of terraced olive-groves, maritime pine trees and grass. The house faces south-east and the house-front and terraced patio (for 'al fresco' meals!) are covered by a beautiful old wisteria. Here you will find peace and quiet, summer breezes, carrying the scent of lavender, thyme, rosemary and pine, and a 'forever' view to die for.

In the white washed clear and simple decor of the house you will also find some family antiques. The windows have wooden shutters on the inside and out. There is a 12x6 m outdoor private swimming-pool and a breathtaking open view over the hills towards the sea. Easy winter-living: you will find central heating and a fire place for the cooler months of the year. The house also adjusts well for 2 people. There are no immediate neighbours. Shaded parking. Outdoor furniture provided. Please note that the last 800 metres or so of road to the property is not tarred and its condition varies depending on the weather. After many weeks of heavy rain (very rare during the main season) one has to drive carefully to avoid small rock protrusions. No need for 4x4 vehicles.

Our 4 weeks at 'Le Rayol' were fantastic. It was a real pleasure to live there for such long holidays and we enjoyed every minute of it. It is a beautiful estate and all was perfect. We felt blessed by the complete seclusion of Le Rayol thanks to the substantial land surrounding it. The beauty of the nature, the animals and the privacy were really enjoyed by us when we made our walks through the environnement almost every day. Also we benefitted from the almost permanent cloudless skies to do a lot of 'star gazing' at night. You have developped a beautifully landscaped garden with numerous terraces and lovely olive trees.



Just to say how very much we all enjoyed our week at Le Rayol. It really is the most wonderful place - the beautifully furnished house, the superb pool with its breathtaking views and the magical gardens. We loved Seillans and enjoyed exploring many of the surrounding villages. Thank you again for letting us use your fantastic house.

Erholung schon nach wenigen Stunden.

Es ist hier oben doch einige Grad kälter als am Meer. Cannes liegt nur eine 3/4 Std. mit dem Auto entfernt von Seillans. Hier ist alles sehr malerisch, sauber und einladend. Gesäumt von Villen wurde der Weg immer schmaler, der Wald dichter. Wir wähnten uns bereits auf dem falschen Pfad, jetzt nur noch im Schritttempo fahrend, als vor uns auf einer Lichtung dieses verträumte Kleinod auftauchte. So schön gelegen, mit diesem nach der Enge des Waldes so befreiendem Weitblick auf die angrenzenden Hügel. Wir bereisten bereits viele Ecken der Provence und hatten uns in wirklich noblen Herbergen niedergelassen, hier aber waren wir sofort zu Hause. Dieses unbeschreibliche warme Gefühl, das einen komplett vergessen lässt eine Reise gegen Geld gebucht zu haben. Es setzte sich im Inneren des Hauses fort. Wir finden nicht die stylische Immobilie vor, die nur seelenlose Geldanlage des Besitzers darstellt, die den Gästen nur designbehaftete Mainstream Modernität suggeriert. Dieses Haus lebt, es erzählt Geschichten und wird ohne Zweifel vom Hausherren geliebt und gepflegt, in einer Sauberkeit, die man oft vergeblich in Frankreich sucht. Nicole, gute Seele , kümmert sich aufopfernd um die Belange der Gäste vor Ort. Sie versorgt das Anwesen mit der gleichen Sorgfalt und Hingabe wie der Hausherr persönlich. Ohne jemals aufdringlich zu sein werden alle Belange in einer Weise bearbeitet als wären es die Eigenen, mit der gleichen Sorgfalt und der gleichen Hingabe, die der Hausherr seit Beginn an uns hat zu Teil werden lassen. Service ? - vielleicht, wenn dann aber meisterhaft. Hell sind alle Räume und vermitteln eine Großzügigkeit, die das Haus noch lichter erscheinen lässt. Die hohen weißen Decken lassen die Räume atmen. Besonders schön der Blick von der Empore in den darunterlegenden Salon mit stattlichem Kamin. Von hier hat man einen schönen Blick auf das dahinter liegende Grundstück mit Pool. Die vielen Bücher ,umgeben von den antiken Möbeln,verlangen gelesen zu werden.Für die News aus aller Welt bedienten wir uns des Internets, morgens bei einem Rosé am Pool in absoluter Ruhe und Abgeschiedenheit.Die sehr gut ausgestattet Küche verlangt nach ausgedehnten Koch-Sessions. Die vielen Tische und Nischen draußen wollen bedient werden. Der terrassierte Grund mit seinen vielen Olivenbäumen und im Schutz der umsäumenden Nadelbäumen, auch für unseren Hund der Himmel mit seinen grandiosen Aussichten. Es gibt also nichts was einer haltbaren Beanstandung wert wäre. Wir kommen wieder.

Wonderful hideaway

This was our second visit to Le Rayol and it was just as perfect as the first. The house has all the comforts you need and is perfectly placed for trips out if you ever tire of the swimming pool or the views from the house. We love the absence of cars and neighbours, it's so peaceful, just the odd glider flying overhead. There are many tracks leading from the house into the forest that are good for walking or cycling. A beautiful property in a wonderful location.

Wonderful

Lovely property, beautiful and very peaceful location, Nicole (housekeeper) really helpful and went out of her way to help us when we arrived late and overtired having broken down on the way. Lovely views from pool. Sebastian very helpful also. One of the bedrooms accessed from the outside, which wasn't a problem to us but might have worried parents with younger children. Very nice restaurants in nearby Bargemon, market in nearby Fayence, kids had a wonderful time on pedalos in the lake about half hour drive away.

South of France Summer Hide-away

La Rayol was an amazing place...quite, beautiful, rustic (in a good way) with everything you need for a perfect south of France rental. It slept 7 comfortably and the setting was perfect. From the crystal clear pool (perfect temperature) with a view of the valley with gliders coasting on the breezes that blew through the surrounding pines, to the perfect outdoor eating area off the kitchen, it made for a great place to relax, with friends and family. It was simply furnished but everything worked, and made living there easy.

As the owner said, "don't drive your Ferrari to the house," as the approach is a little rough, but don't get discouraged either you'll get the hang of it. The owner was great btw, easy to communicate with and responsive.

The villages nearby were great and markets and modern supermarkets were close enough.

Just a great place to make great memories. I would totally recommend this property.

Beautiful. Quiet. Peaceful.

I wake early, go downstairs and open the front door to the emerging world. I make coffee and go to drink it outside. I watch as the sun rises through the olive tress in the bluest of skies. The air is still and warm. I look across the valley towards the distant hills and hear... nothing... except the gentle chattering of birds. The cyan of the pool draws me towards itself. There is nowhere in the world I'd rather be than Le Rayol in summer.

Excellent and comfortable house in superb natural surrounding, absolute calm.

The traditional house is well equipped, including WiFi, and even when the weather is bad, staying inside is quite pleasant. The owner has an interesting collection of German, English en French books in his library.

The attractive terraced terrain with its old stone walls (restanques) and beautiful olive trees is surrounded by a forest with paths for walking in every direction. One small caveat: the long and winding gravel road to the house is not suitable for cars having a clearance less than 10cm.

With absolute 100% privacy and a splendid view this is a great place for those who want to really relax.

The nearby village of Seillans is friendly and attractive with 2 good restaurants and a modest supermarket.

The communications with the owner as well as with the housekeeper went very well and provided all information required.

Le Rayol is situated on a hill side facing south-east towards the sea. It is surrounded by green hills and pine woods. The air is crystal clear. The next village is Seillans, a picturesque medieval place, classified as 'one of France's most beautiful villages', where the famous artist Max Ernst chose to spend the last years of his life. Seillans, with fountains, winding cobbled streets, shaded squares, with restaurants and cafés inviting you to sit outside and let village life go by. It has 2 boulangeries, a small supermarket, a chemist and a 'tabac'. Cleaning lady on request once a week (15 € per hour), guests staying-on longer than 1 week are obliged to have our cleaning lady in on a weekly basis on Saturdays for 3-4 hours (depending on how many people are staying for € 15 per hour). She will change the bed-linen and towels and clean the house. Swimming pool not enclosed. Twice weekly professional swimming pool maintenance during the main season. Outside store-room for garden furniture. Track towards the house not tarred for the last 800m or so, drive carefully if small rocks protruding. No need for 4x4 vehicle.
