Guestbook comments from the manager

We were so pleased with our accommodations!! Wow! The decor was one of the best places we have ever stayed. We just had a fantastic vacation here and will treasure for a life time. It is much better than staying at luxury hotel because you have fully furnished kitchen and enormous space!

I give this 5 STARS!!

It had something for everyone.

The house was perfect for our family reunion. The rooms were great sizes and were very comfortable. The house was very close to all local activities.

Nice house, musty basement, cheap service

  • 3 of 5

The house is fantastic for a weekend away with a large group. I would caution, however, that it's definitely a little musty smelling downstairs, enough that one of the girls on our trip that had a bedroom to herself down there preferred to sleep on a couch on the main level to avoid any mold allergies.

Also, while the house is explicit about BYO toiletries and paper towels, it does not specify toilet paper, and when we arrive there was A SINGLE ROLL in the house for 11 people. Also, all the soap dispensers are watered down a lot, making it feel like your hands never get clean. People pay enough money to deserve a legitimate amount of toilet paper and actual soap.

The house overall is very nice and easy to get to. Just a few simple fixes would make it perfect .

So pissed!!!

  • 3 of 5

Ok, so to begin the overall impression of the property is good! However, there are so many things that I as well as the group I traveled with were so disappointed in. First off, Poconos Stay does poor business and I would never deal with them again. Our stay was from Thursday to Sunday and because of the previous review that i seen on homeaway from Feburary concerning issues with the house, I reached out to Sebastian Blady from Poconos Stay and he reassured me that those issues were taken care of and If we had any problems to contact maintenance first and them him if problem wasn't resolved. First issue came Friday morning when the toilet on the bottom floor backed up and overflowed. Upon calling about the toilet issue, we also mentioned about dirt in the hot tub (It was late Thursday night when we noticed it). To make matters worst, I woke up to splashes of water on me only to look over on the night table in the master bedroom closest to the bathroom, only to discover my cell phone which was plugged in charging from the night before sitting in water. Upon investigating, a leak coming from the ceiling was discovered. There is a bathroom above that area. Upon closer inspection, you could also see that the area had leakage there before (yellow spots and signs of former patching). Ok, so back to the bathroom. We were told someone would be coming and after hours and hours of waiting (with a horrible stench throughout the house) we were told that the maintenance man was out of town and and that they were trying to locate a replacement. A plumber finally arrived after my husband recommended that they call one. After it was said to be repaired the guy that does the housekeeping for the house came and cleaned the bathroom really good for us. Low and behold, upon using that bathroom again, the toilet still wouldn't flush. ( Thank God no one had a bowl movement) we would have been back to square one. We decided to not us the bathroom the rest of our stay there.

To be continued......

Very disappointed

  • 1 of 5

This house has not been well maintained. Needless to say we were very disappointed. The kitchen was anything but fully stocked, dirty kettle and old coffee maker, the pots and pans old and broken, filthy kitchen sink, filthy oven, broken Chairs. The bathrooms were dirty. The basement toilet is very old and doesn't work well. The upstairs bathroom has mold growing on the shower curtain. The list goes on and on.

This house has a great layout and a lot of potential. The owner needs to update a few things and make sure the house is being thoroughly cleaned by maintenance.

Has potential to be Great.

I've rented homes in the Poconos twice a year for the past 7 years and have never had any issues with wild life. We were traveling with 8 kids and should've been informed that this community has had bear sightings in the past. We didn't learn of this until I called to complain about trash being all over the yard. I assumed it was raccoons, and was shocked to learn that it was actually a Bear. Which forced us to keep the kids inside and we were shocked and horrified when we returned to the house to find the bear once again at the trash cans. This bear would later return in the night, but by this time I knew not to throw any trash out, so we kept the bags in the house, which wasn't ideal for a group this size. One of the neighbors made his way over to express his concern and said that he informed the property owner that the garbage bins should be enclosed in a locked container that would prevent the bear from accessing them.

Besides the bear there were some other issues with this rental:

trash was left in cans, and cigarette butts in house. Also the coffee maker and blender wasn't emptied out and was molded, we had to disinfect and clean it with vinegar before using. There were dirty rags left in cabinets, used towels and clothes left in two of the bedrooms.

The TV in the basement didn't have a working remote. There was a universal remote, but I'm assuming it wasn't programmed because it didn't work, the ping pong ball was cracked, and the Wifi in the house was anything but high speed. We had to purchase an Ethernet cord to connect directly to the router, as we weren't able to stream music or movies over the network. There was also a closet door that was off track, but this wasn't a big deal because we didn't need to use the closets. We also had to purchase a pot (that we left in the house), because the home only had 1 pot, a pan and a skillet. There was also an issue with the refrigerator as it didn't get cold enough and some of our meat spoiled and that shouldn't had happened over the span of 2 days.

We did get a fast response when contacting the property manager which was much appreciated. The house offers enough space, and the deck was large enough as well. House has great potential, as long as they don't overlook some of these issues.
