This lovely trullo was chosen and filmed for House Hunters International in 2010 and again in 2013.
Renovated with care, attention to detail and most of all preserving the hundreds of year of history that this trullo holds.
Stone arches, curious alcoves, traditional materials, local tradesmen and time have revealed a trullo that is very special. Considering the environment, natural material were used and rain water is collected in the wells. Chemicals are not used on the 8,000m2 of land private land here and in the garden you are free to pick from the selection of freshly grown vegetables including tomatoes, courgettes, aubergines, onions, potatoes and you can also enjoy the herbs from the garden and fruit from the trees.
Relax in the double hammock that hangs between the fruit trees or cook fresh produce on the stone built barbecue.
You can dine under the natural shade of the 500 year old olive tree & sleep the afternoon away on the comfortable double sun loungers.
Trullo dei Sogni (Trullo of Dreams) is an ideal retreat from the stresses of the real world.....welcome..
Situated just 5 miles from the chic town of Martina Franca and a short drive to the clear tropical award winning beaches of the Ionian coastline, Trullo of Dreams can be found.
Situated on a private road and this ensures the tranquil location is not disturbed.
The electric gates lead into a spacious parking area for up to 5 cars and the private land of over 2 acres.
Here you can find a selection of fruit trees including fig, apples, sharon fruit, plums, almonds and pears, all yours to pick from when in season.
On entering the trullo you are immediately surrounded by the 3 original cones which have been preserved beautifully and hold the history of hundreds of years gone by.
This is now the a spacious living and dining area and is dominate by the large, original, open log burn fireplace, next to this is the second of 3 double patio doors.
This is turned into the 3rd bedroom in the summer when 5 or 6 people are staying.
Entering the newer part of the trullo you will find a spacious stone built Puglian kitchen, a pleasure for keen cooks.
Here there is a full size dishwasher and espresso coffee machine with a supply of coffee.
Stroll along the hallway and you will find 2 tastefully decorated romantic bedrooms and 2 fully tiled bathrooms (one of which is en-suit).
Finished beautifully throughout with antique and solid wood furniture the feeling of quality surrounds you.
Undoubtedly this trullo has one of the most spectacular gardens in the area.
Fruit trees are dotted throughout the beautifully maintained grassed area and here you can pick from the selection of herbs like oregano, thyme, basil, rosemary and of course mint for your evening mojito.
Five centuries of history shades you from the warm summer sun, the wonderful olive tree.
Relax on the double sunbeds or sleep the afternoon away in the hammock under the shade.
The total privacy of the property and large swimming pool (10m x 5m) makes this trullo a very special retreat.
Exploring this beautiful area:
There is so much to do and see in this unspoilt part of Italy.
The trullo is just 5 miles from the beautiful, chic, baroque town of Martina Franca.
In the summer months the town is full of activity.
The city is known as the 'citta del festival', the city of festivals.
The most famous being the musical festival, which attracts people from worldwide in the last 2 weeks of July.
Surrounded by pretty hilltop town with enchanting historic centres and beautiful piazzas I would recommend you visit: Cisternino, Locorotondo, Ostuni (The White City), Monopoli, Pulignano al mare, Conversano.
Matera, Lecce and Gallipoli are a little further away but undoubtedly worth the drive.
Miles of clean, white, award winning, sandy beaches can be found on the Ionian coastline, just 30 minutes from the trullo.
Dining out here is a pleasure. Fresh seafood, locally grown fruit and vegetables and tender meat dishes all at a very reasonable price.
Local Puglian wine is now known all over the world, you can have the pleasure of sampling this at local prices.
If you wish to visit the wine museum in Alberobello and sample the wines I can organise this for.
You could also spend a morning seeing the famous olive oil of Puglian being made or visiting the cheese factory.
After looking at many trulli in the area I immediately fell in love with Trullo of Dreams. Just a short drive to Martina Franca which is beautiful town with a lovely historic centre, great shops, chic cafes and wonderful restaurants.
Trullo of Dreams ticked all the boxes which is not easy.
Set just off the main country road along a private road which is closed at the end so there are only a few trulli beyond the property therefore you are not disturbed by passing traffic. Electric gates lead to the parking area and the lovely setting. You can see other trulli dotted around however the property is totally private and not overlooked, this is very important.
Although I saw many trulli in my search I had not seen one with such a beautiful patio and garden area. The old olive tree on the patio is something quite breathtaking and a lovely area of natural shade.
I loved the idea of picking the ripe fruit and using all the herbs for cooking and the vegetable garden give you a supply throughout the summer.
Trullo of Dreams is very spacious inside and has been renovated beautifully. I purchased many pieces of the lovely antique furniture with the property and have added to these.
Immediately I could see this property was a very special place and I am delighted to say anyone who has stayed here has also seen the same beauty that caught my attention, please read the reviews.
It has now been filmed twice for House Hunters International (America). Once in 2010 and again in 2013.
We spent a wonderful three weeks in this gorgeous Trulli, and didn't want to leave! The property was spotless, the rooms were spacious and decorated in a traditional style. Our 4-year old daughter especially loved her 'princess bed'! Susan was extremely helpful and welcoming throughout our stay, and we loved the handy welcome food pack and bottle of Puglian wine (and really nice touch). Susan also helpfully arranged a cot and highchair for our one year old. We loved the peace and quiet in this rural retreat, and spent lots of time in the lovely pool, enjoying the views. The kitchen was really well stocked. The garden area is beautiful, and our kids adored the hammock! The surrounding villages and towns in the region are stunning, with some fabulous places to eat out. I would recommend this place to anyone - we had an amazing holiday and would come back without hesitation!
We had a wonderful relaxing week at the Trullo of Dreams, it was everything we’d expected and Susan's warm, welcoming, friendly and efficient customer service made it all the more special.
The Trullo of Dreams sits in a very loose scattering of other, all eccentrically slightly different, trulli, these iconic, quirky traditional Puglia farm buildings, in a quiet, sporadic network of country lanes and fields.
With the trulli and the flat, expansive, but by no means uneventful, landscape you get a slight sense of otherworldliness, perhaps a touch of the Shire from Tolkien's imagined Middle Earth.
The Trullo itself had everything we needed with plentiful touches of luxury. We had two tots in our party, a one and two year old and after easy communication with Susan during the booking process she's ensured we had the high chairs and cot.
Susan made sure we knew how everything worked, especially in the well equipped kitchen; the fridge and cupboards were already amply stocked with essentials and some lovely extra treats, plenty to cook a nice meal for all of us including local specialities and bottles of local wine.
The bedrooms, one en suite, are very comfortable and the decor throughout the whole Trullo is of good quality and tasteful. The living room area is cosy and cool with dining and TV area.
It is the secluded, large and stunningly attractive al fresco part of the trullo that really makes it special. From the kitchen and lounge you enter a courtyard dominated by an ancient olive tree, which then flows into a patio stretching to the perfectly sized pool, complete with excellent and flexible sunbeds (made of painted pallets supporting large mattresses). The rest of the area is made up of another lawn fringed patio with a hammock strung lazily between trees in one corner, a table shaded by palm covered frame in the other and dominated by a traditional open wood burning oven.
The trullo also has a washing machine, dishwasher, a table tennis table, wifi, espresso machine, music system, TV, DVD player, a stock of DVDs and books, board games and lots of gadgets and tools and housewares. There are abundant herbs growing, fruit trees and tended vegetable patches which yield plenty of fresh goodies for guests.
The Trullo of Dreams is a great quality, great value and special place. We’re delighted to have found it, it was lovely meeting Susan and enjoying what she’s achieved in making it, as the Italians would say, perfetto!
We have had fabulous times at the Trullo over the years, the house is amazing, spacious and comfortable and whimpers to your every need, Susan is so lovely organising our transfer and food!
Will be back
With love from Scotland
Four of us stayed at this Trullo and thoroughly enjoyed it. As other reviewers have mentioned, Susan has ensured that it's very well stocked for a self catering property - we've stayed in several places where the kitchen doesn't have the equipment to actually cook a full meal so great to have everything there. The welcome package was much appreciated as we got in too late to go shopping. It was also lovely to pick the fresh produce growing in the garden to enjoy - more figs than we could eat:)
The villa has plenty of space to relax in and very comfortable, and having a pool big enough to swim in, table tennis, hammock and seating/loungers makes it ideal for just relaxing. Haggis the cat was also a very friendly and lovely addition!
Susan was a great host, very helpful with suggestions on places to visit and restaurants to try locally.
The trullo of dreams is a charming traditional house which has been beautifully updated by Susan. The facilities are excellent with a great pool, wifi and mod cons.
We particularly liked the fact that all the necessities are there for you - the every day things that you don't want to have to buy but lots of similar places don't provide, such as washing up things.
The welcome pack was easily the best I've ever seen - wine, ham, milk, eggs, fresh produce from the garden, fruit.
Susan's attitude is that you want to be able to relax here as much as possible and we've really been able to do that. Even when one of our children needed to go to hospital - on the second day! - Susan was there like a shot to help us, driving us to two hospitals until we got the help we needed.
I can't fault her customer service and her advice and tips on where to go was really helpful. She even warned us of a public holiday so we didn't get caught out by the shops being shut.
We've spent a lovely twelve days here - a family of five with three teenage sons. There's been plenty for us to do here, relaxing, and nearby visiting sites. We've picked vegetables from the garden for dinner, we've had table tennis tournaments, played in the pool every day and dozed in the hammock.
We had a lovely relaxing time at this beautiful trullo. It was all exactly as described. It is obviously so well maintained and loved and that can make all the difference to a good holiday. And so lovely to have herbs and produce available in the garden. Susan is a great owner although we hardly needed to call on her help. Would certainly think of making a return trip! Thank you!
