What makes this cabin unique

We love our cabins and enjoy sitting on the deck and relaxing after a great day of hiking or swimming. This is a great spot to come home to and we are in a perfect location for some great day trips. The Forks Restaurant is located on the same property as our cabins, so no need to worry about driving into town for dinner. My husband and I love to have a glass of wine with some friends on the deck and then walk right over to the restaurant for a fantastic dinner.

Very clean, well stocked and close to everything.

We had a wonderful family weekend getaway. Spent all of our time hiking, swimming and exploring in the nearby National Forest. Grocery store and restaurants just a short drive away.

Nice cabin but very noisy

  • 1 of 5

The cabin was very cute and clean, however, you had the cement trucks rumbling down the hill behind the cabin and the highway in the front that made it undesirable to sit on the porch and difficult to sleep. Since it advertised being pet friendly and bordering on the national forest I thought/assumed there would be room to walk the dogs, etc - unfortunately we were limited to a muddy driveway for taking the dogs out which had no lighting at all at night. There were two televisions in the cabin, neither attached to even an antenna. It was a disappointing stay and we left a day early.

Owner's Response: I’m so sorry that y’all did not enjoy your stay. It’s very disappointing, knowing how much my family loves being there. It is very unusual for the trucks to be heading up and down the mountain during the night. And hanging out on the porch after a day of hiking or walking around downtown is our favorite thing to do. I just don’t notice the traffic, too many trees to really even see the road. We do boarder the National forest and our cabins are a great location to go out and enjoy the numerous hiking trails, rivers and parks within minutes of the cabin. The cabins are intended for a great place to come home to after enjoying the mountains of West Virginia, we do not have hiking trails located on property. We do have a grassy area and a place for the dogs to run to the right of us. My dogs love that area and do not get into any trouble there. Unfortunately, during the spring months in West Virginia we tend to have days of rain. This trip just happened to fall on a weekend where we had rain for 10 days straight. I cannot blame mother nature for that, this is why West Virginia mountains are so beautiful and lush. Communication is key, I wish I would have known the huge spot light that lights up the entire parking lot was on the fritz. Or been able to help with proper directions to some of the great places to visit in the national park.

Relaxing place with nice views

  • 4 of 5

Kristin was great to deal with - responded quickly when our plans for the weekend fell through and we needed a weekend getaway for our family (including 3 kids and a dog). The beds were comfortable and clean. Two king-size beds in separate rooms, each with their own full bath. Rooms were fully stocked with extra blankets, pillows, towels, paper products, etc. TVs in each room and the main living room area. In between the baths is a sauna, which we really didn't use. The hot tub did not go above 75 degrees, which we learned after may have been set to economy mode. The kitchen is functional, though there are only three plates and bowls, so bring more if you need additional items! Plenty of glassware if you need it. Also, though there is a large fridge pictured, there is only a dorm-size fridge when you get there. The decks are great, with wonderful views. The park is only a few minutes away, as is downtown Elkins. Quiet and peaceful surroundings, even with the road below you. Very relaxing weekend. All in all, we were happy with the place and would return. Thanks again Kristin!
