Ontario Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 3 Bedrooms, 3 bath

Maximum Occupancy is 6 people.

This Ottawa Valley Cottage rental has spectacular views from the deck overlooking 420 ft lake front, on Round Lake. (note that google maps shows we are on Bonnechere River: this is not correct we are on the lake) The property is wooded with red pine, white pine and poplar. The cottage is very private you do not see your neighbors on either side. With southwest exposure you have sun all day long and great sunsets.

The cottage has one master bedroom with half bath and a King size bed. A second bedroom with a bunkbed. A third bedroom with a Queen size bed. A breezeway room relaxing with a couch and entertainment unit. A basement bedroom with a futon couch and entertainment area. The cottage is well stocked with games, toys and movies for all ages. Including a Wii. A large deck with table and 8 chairs, 2 lounge chairs and access to the lake front.

The lake access has stone and wooden steps leading to a large swim dock with a swim ladder. The shoreline is rocky but the lake is hard sand with scattered rocks. Visiblity is very high and no weeds. A firepit is located by the edge of the lake for you enjoyment.

We have a canoe with life jackets and paddles available for rental at a rate of $ 75.00 per week.

We have a kayak with lifejackets and paddle available for rental at a rate of $ 50.00 per week

Round Lake is three miles by seven miles wide and around 90 feet deep. Water visibility is high, as the lake is fed from springs from adjacent Algonquin Park. One of the finest fishing lakes in The Ottawa Valley and by most standards the largest and most popular lake in a 60 mile radius. Round Lake was stocked with lake trout in the fall of 2012. Killaloe is the nearest town, eight miles away, and provides a bank, LCBO, grocery store, restaurant and chipstand.

You are about 3000 feet from Foy Provincial Park which has the nicest sand beach on the lake. It is no charge to enter the park and use the beach and hiking trails, as no camping or overnight is allowed. Wolf Ridge Golf Course is a 18 hole course within a 15 minute drive from the Cottage.

The list of things to do in the area is, frankly, amazing. There is a place where you can get away, but still absorb the Canadian experience. See our other cottage property on Round Lake from the link at the end of the listing.

If you are looking for a place to get away with the family or your significant other, your senses will be satisfied.

Please email me if you have any questions or require additional photos.

About Nancy Gavin

My husband is from Texas and I am from Ottawa. We have two boys 12 and 15. We have two homes on Round Lake. We love to travel with our boys and discover new places. Round Lake is our sanctuary and we enjoy the wonderful sunsets and views from the great room. We look forward to spending our evenings around the firepit making smores, telling stories and singing camp songs. We hope you can create some family memories of your own at our cottage.

Nancy Gavin purchased this cottage in 2003

Why Nancy Gavin chose Ontario

I grew up spending my summers on Round Lake. My parents retired here and most of my siblings have bought property here as well. We love the community, it is a very eclectic area. Lot of music, art and local talent. Festivals, farmers markets and fishing derbys. People here are friendly with a strong sense of community. We have recently moved to Pembroke and have made our home on Round Lake available year round. We can offer all kinds of suggestions for outings in the area as well as leave a fully stocked binder of brochures and maps for you to plan your week. (or just stay on the deck and enjoy the lake and sunsets)

What makes this cottage unique

The lake is always changing. Some days it is calm, others a wind comes up and the waves can be like the ocean. I find that we have very few bugs as we are on the windy side of the lake. With South West exposure you can enjoy the sun most of the day and watch the sunset in the evening. The deck is very private and this lake has very few boats so it is quiet. I enjoy a morning walk to Foy Provincial Park with my dog. I walk down the beach and through the hiking trail. (about 1.5 miles round trip). The park is closed so usually it is empty in the mornings. It is a magical place. Our kids are happy to share their movies, games, books and toys with your children. We leave the cottage stocked with books, games, magazines and movies for your enjoyment.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Nancy was very helpful with clear instructions. The cottage was beautiful, with a well equipped kitchen, and gorgeous surroundings. I brought my work colleagues up here for couple of days outside of the city, and we were very happy with the experience. Wonderful place, highly recommend it!

Comforts of home, with a breathtaking view

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful updated, clean and well-kept cottage on the lake front. Fully stocked kitchen, no need to bring appliances or tools of any kind. Nicely decorated and maintained. A glass shower and jacuzzi tub where a nice surprise. The deck faces the lake and has a beautiful view all day and evening.

We wold have stayed for a week if we could have and known it was going to be so nice.

Nancy was very helpful and answered any questions promptly.

If anyone is looking for a relaxing getaway and still wants the amenities of home, contact Nancy right away! This cottage will not disappoint.

Exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

We only stayed for a couple of days to my regret. The cottage itself is modern and clean with lots of natural light , the views are incredible, and all in all the complete setting is peaceful just what we needed to unplug. Nancy was prompt to answer all our questions. And we look forward to a next time

Beautiful Winter Views

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is amazing, clean, modern and so much space. Even though it's winter and cold the views were ridiculously beautiful. The towns are very close as well for anything you need. Besides ice fishing, there wasn't any other winter activities we could do. Most of the activities are closed for winter. It was a really nice, relaxing weekend getaway for us and we will be coming back :)

Owner's Response: Im glad you enjoyed your weekend and hope to see you again soon. A few of the things that are guests enjoy in the winter season include: Groomed and scenic cross-country ski trails winding through our meadows and forests. Bonnechere Provincial Park at the end of the lake has lots of trails to ski or snow shoe. I can also email a list of groomed trails that are close by. The Ottawa Valley is home to a number of dog sledding tour operators waiting to help you experience this uniquely Canadian adventure! Nothing beats a sleigh ride on a cold crisp winter day! Sleigh rides at Willi’s Ranch in Pembroke. What could be more exhilarating than taking the family out into the cool, crisp air, slapping on a pair of skates and gliding the day away on one of our well-maintained municipal rinks. Our skating season is generally from mid-December through to March. The town of Killaloe and Round Lake centre have outdoor rinks to enjoy. Both are 10 minutes from the cottage. Winter in the Ottawa Valley means lots of snow and means - perfect snowmobiling weather for sledding enthusiasts. We offer snowmobile enthusiasts over 2,550km/1,580 mi of groomed Trans Ontario Provincial trails and local trails that wind through picturesque villages, along abandoned rail beds, past old mine sites and ghost towns. Trail access is just down the road from the cottage. Contact me for other fun and interesting things going on in the Valley. Enjoy!

Just awesome

  • 5 of 5

Nancy was really helpful with pointing us to the different activities around the area, the place was just incredible, the view to the lake and lake itself just amazing, the only thing I have to complain about is that we didn't stay longer. Thanks again Nancy

Awesome Cottage, Fantastic View

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time while staying here with my brother and sister-in-law who were here from Germany, they loved the place! Everything you could possibly need and more is provided. This was our first time using VRBO so we were a bit apprehensive about the whole procedure, not sure if everyone else is this good and organized but Nancy definitely does a fantastic job! Would recommend this place without any hesitation.
