About Mel

I do PR and social media for a health care tech company and my husband is a software architect. We have two kids and a dog.

We are so excited to have a new place in Monterey, as well as our second home in Lake Tahoe.

I'm always happy to offer tips on restaurants and things to do in Lake Tahoe, Monterey and the Bay Area. Maybe one day we'll get to share our home in Sausalito when we're traveling!

I'm on Twitter @BlissShare, sharing what's new and exciting on the #Truckee, #LakeTahoe and #Monterey hashtags. We love connecting with our guests, helping them with their plans and then hearing how their stays were.

Would love to hear from you!

This home is on the historic register. It is charming and well-located.

It's a 15-minute walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and many area restaurants, shops and beaches.

It's a 10-min drive to Carmel & Pebble Beach. It's a 30-min drive to Big Sur and 2½-hours to Hearst Castle.

What makes this house unique

The two cottages facing each other across a private, lit courtyard is so charming.

This home would be ideal for a longer-term vacation stay where you'd like to invite family, grandkids or friends to visit with you.

It's also perfect for two couples to share or a family to spread out in.

Beach House Heaven

we had a wonderful stay here. The Cottages were well equipped with everything we needed. We loved how close it was to town so we could walk. These cottages would be great for families. Loved the gas fire in the courtyard, nice touch. Mel was great as well. I was well informed and got an immediate response when I needed something.

This place beats any hotel in the area!

Clean, neat, user-friendly, private, cozy, and with great beds. Owner was amazingly helpful and made it easy, even with a last minute early check-in. Has everything you need for a comfortable stay...except for a garlic press 😇? My teen had his own space to hang out and we played foosball & chess while it rained.

Cannot wait to stay again!

Like staying at a girlfriend's house!

  • 5 of 5

Loved staying at the cottages with my husband and two kids - 15 and 13. At first, I was dubious about two separate buildings, but the location was great and we went for it. And when I walked under the trellised gate entrance, my concerns were immediately put at ease.

The garden is so inviting - a covered outdoor table, fire pit, separate bbq area, the flowers, the amazing king palms created a really special vibe. The cottages were fabulous-the kids LOVED having their own space, and my husband and I enjoyed the privacy (especially from the inevitable sibling bickering that close quarters on vacation bring).

Mel is a wonderful host! Easily available for questions at any time. The kitchen is well appointed and easy to negotiate, the pictures don't do it justice IMHO. The washer and dryer are huge - no worries there. Beds were comfy and there are more board games, Jenga, dominoes than you ever knew existed! Then the surprise of the passes for the Acquarium - which was great, because my husband and I could go over two days, not bore the kids with one long day. Seriously, I felt like I was staying a home of a good friend, not a rental.

I miss this rental so much!

My family and I stayed at this lovely property for three months while my husband was doing contract work in the area. It is both charming and comfortable with everything we needed and yet not a bit of clutter. The location is perfect! Walking distance to the ocean, downtown PG and Cannery Row. I love to run and never got bored with all of the fantastic views within a 3 mile radius - the path along the ocean, all of the adorable shops and cafes, the beautiful homes, the wandering packs of deer, the seals, the sea lions, the otters and - let us not forget - the two Trader Joes. My kids and dogs loved the yard and all of the nearby parks. When my parents visited for a weekend, they had their own little cottage to stay in across the yard and it was perfect. Mel was welcoming, helpful and always quick to respond but not a bit overbearing as some owners can be. We really enjoyed our time here and would not hesitate to try to book again if we are ever back in the area. Do yourself a favor and spend some time at these lovely cottages! Love this place!!!!

Garden Oasis

  • 5 of 5

I stayed here for 3 months while working locally at one of the hospitals. The place is very comfortable with lots of charm and character. It is walking distance to the ocean/Cannery Row. Palm trees line the secluded, private yard. The place was impeccable when we arrived.

Perfect place

  • 5 of 5

Mel was the best about communicating with my roommate & me. Easy walk down to the water to see the seals on the beach, eat at some great restaurants and do a little shopping. The neighborhood was quiet, with a beautiful courtyard to relax during the day with a book or to cook on the grill.

Everything was great during our stay, with a lot of sightseeing in Monterey, Pebble Beach & Big Sur just a short drive away. I would definitely stay again & recommend staying here to others.

Owner's Response: Angie and Brie were excellent guests. Couldn't have asked for more. They were very communicative about things that came up, for example unexpected tidying needed in the garden after a big storm. They were always quick and helpful in responding and they left the place in tip-top shape. It was a pleasure hosting them, and we would welcome them back and recommend them highly to any other host.
