About Carl Coolidge

We love mountains, rivers, and wildlife. Our son and family live in White Salmon. Our home is in Zillah, WA. We're retired from public education jobs. Our daughters also work in education in the Spokane area. We enjoy our cabin on the scenic, beautiful Klickitat River.

Carl Coolidge purchased this cabin in 2010

Why Carl Coolidge chose Washington

We think the Columbia Gorge is such a beautiful area and it is close to our son and his family.

What makes this cabin unique

We watch the wild turkeys, blue jays, bald eagles and deer come around the cabin. We have fun rafting and boating the river, as well as fishing. It is fun to hike and walk in the canyon. RV site available but no sewer; there is electricity and water but amps are probably not enough for an air conditioner.

RELAXING VISIT

  • 5 of 5

Such a nice relaxing place right on the river. So enjoyable to watch kayakers and fishermen drift by in front of the window - better than TV. We slept on the murphy bed as the stairs were a bit difficult for us oldies. Also was a very hot weekend, but the AC kept us very comfortable. We would love to go back, but there are too many other places we want to explore on our bucket list. :)

Wonderful stay on a beautiful river!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed ourselves at this cabin. Beautiful--though not entirely secluded--and well-kept property, and the river and canyon view was simply lovely. Cabin itself was charming and had all the basics, including washer/dryer. We enjoyed talking to fishermen as they passed and playing on the little beach with our young kids. Also loved exploring the area, with fun day trips to Maryhill and to Horsethief Lake. Tight spiral staircase could be challenging to some. We'll be back!

Wonderful!

Loved this place in paradise! Wish we had spent our entire time there instead of in Goldendale for the Santana concert at Maryhill Winery! We will be back!

Lovely little place. Perfectly peaceful!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the cabin for Father's Day and took our elderly father there for a fishing get away. He sat by the rivers edge fishing, enjoying the scenery, and loved every minute of it. We had a great time. The cabin was clean and cozy and quite adorable. Sleeping loft would be perfect for kids with the low angled ceilings, but worked for a short adult as well. The stairs are worth a mention as they are again, best suited for kids or small adults. Not wide enough for a large person to get up, and the ceiling will impair tall persons from exiting or entering the stairs at the top, without bending in half that is. But, if you're willing to adapt to those 'tiny' things, they won't distract from the overall experience. Heating, air conditioning, wood stove, windows that let in the fresh air, all make for varying levels of comfort that were greatly appreciated. Getting the information to access the place not as easy as the internet makes it seem, but calling the manager after he confirms the reservation, will get you on the right path right away. Much thanks. Would definitely recommend.
