About Caroline LEMAIRE

I used to be a horse breeder in France. I like all kind of nature: sea, countryside, mountain... i grew up near Paris and my farm was in Normandy, few miles away from the D-Day beaches of WW2.

I moved to Costa Rica for the sun and the Nature... but before everything for the people. I travelled more than 30 countries, and Costa Rica is really a place where i feel confortable, thanks to the welcoming of the Ticos...

Caroline LEMAIRE purchased this villa in 2014

Why Caroline LEMAIRE chose Guanacaste

I was looking for a place to live and i fall in love with that house the first time i saw it... It s the perfect combination between confort and wild, between ocean and jungle... The view on the valley and on the ocean kept my breath for a long time when i first look at it. And this is stil what i do every morning when i get up... Looking the costarican nature while drinking my coffee...

What makes this villa unique

The moment you will enter the house, you will be falling in love with it. Every little spot of the house is a place where you want to chill, or eat, or enjoy a drink or a coffee with an outstanding view on the surrounding nature... The 100square meters rancho is the most special spot of the house where you'll spend a lot of time. The pool right next to it, will allow you to enjoy swimming, or chit chat with your friends, and watch the vast sky and stars at night...

Villa Kanda near Tamarindo - an absolutely beautiful dream vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our 2 families- 3 adults + 4 children ages 8-13 visited during green season in Aug and opted for Villa Kanda from the gorgeous pics/videos we found online. We got a little lost arriving not being use to the lack of signs we have back in US and hill up the mountain top was steep so a 4x4 is a must. But once we arrived at the gate and stepped out, we were taken away by the lush tropical feel of the entrance and then after stepping inside the foyer, we felt like we were in a dream..it kept going as we kept touring the villa. The view is absolutely breathtaking. If you like to cook, the kitchen is amazing and has everything you need for a holiday meal! I think my husband and I automatically woke up @5:30-6am almost everyday and enjoyed the outdoor space, hammocks & outdoor living room with our coffee.

We booked some tours ahead of time but the house manager, Caroline gave us many suggestions as well as answered every question I had and in prompt timing! She was a delight to work with and even more so in person. She also helped with finding a local affordable pair of chefs that made 2 fabulous dinners for our families. It was exactly what we wanted and was so delicious.

We explored many beaches some near some far but all very different and special in its own way. The kids loved the daily traffic (cows, horses and oxs') along the way to and from the villa along with the friendly locals living in the area below.

We loved being able to get out early to explore or go on tours and then come back early enough to enjoy the house and the pool and kitchen. We didn't even use the indoor living room at all.

The house includes a maid and gardener, Yamileth and Wilder who we couldn't speak English nor us Spanish but we figured it out and they are so sweet. We will miss the daily fresh squeezed orange juice from Yamileth and Wilder even cut some coconuts down for our girls to drink ! Having her help with the laundry was a great plus and she helped cut fruit we bought from the local farmers' market. We can very well do this ourselves but having her help just added to the true vacation life and was great.

I can't speak enough about the house and even better in person. The outdoor living space is where we mostly stayed even though some of us are huge magnets for mosquitos but we sprayed during evenings and during the day. Thank you again so much again for a great stay and hospitality. Regards, The Mui & Burda families

Owner's Response: Dear Venus and family, Thank you so much for your great comments on Villa Kanda. You've picked a beautiful time of year to come and visit Costa Rica. Too many people think the green season is too rainy or that they are too many mosquitoes, but as you have seen, August - like September through November - offers an amazing and luxurious nature all around, with only a few showers here and there and beautiful weather most of the time. And as for the mosquitoes, they are very few and can be avoided by basic measures. I am so happy that you and the kids have had such a great time. I sincerely hope to see you again anytime and I hope the recommendation on my family's home rentals in France will be useful. All the best!

Beautiful Home

  • 5 of 5

This is a gorgeous home. I traveled with my husband and two other couples. We stayed Monday through Friday and had a blast. Caroline, the house manager, is superb. She is very helpful. She provided a couple of recommendations for us including a chef, and ATV and zip lining excursion. She arranged the chef to arrive 2 nights to cook for us. It was great! The rooms are very comfortable, modern and clean. The sun will greet you every morning. We did not sleep in late here! The sun rises early (5:30am) and so did we- the sun also sets early (6pm)- we found ourselves in bed by 10pm every night! We were up with the sun and enjoying the outdoor space while sipping on coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice. We enjoyed spending time in the outdoor living room every afternoon and night. We didn't even sit in the indoor living room (with TV). We didn't turn on one TV while here. We enjoyed listening to the frogs and animals from the back porch. I think we even heard monkeys! The description on the house is correct....this house is for nature lovers. We saw birds, bugs, frogs, and a bat. You definitely hear lots of other animals. There was a cleaning lady and gardener on the property from 6am-2pm, but you will not see them unless you need them. It was nice to go to town during the day and come back to a nice clean house. The house is on a steep hill and you will need a 4 wheel drive. The drive to town was around 15 minutes, but it is well worth the drive to come back to a beautiful house like Villa Kanda. Myself and the other two couples staying at this house all enjoyed this house, especially the nice kitchen and outdoor living space. The view of the mountains in the background and cow fields was gorgeous. The property is very nicely landscaped and the house is gorgeous. We had fun in town every day and came back to relax at Villa Kanda.

Owner's Response: Thank you Sara for your review on Villa Kanda. It is very useful for our next guests to know that you can still do a lot in only 4 days! Ziplining, sportfishing, quads, massages... Also having a Chef two nights was an excellent idea to spend even more time relaxing at the house. Same for having our maid cook your bacon/eggs at breakfast. This is what vacation should be like! Please, visit again. Greetings to all!

Little taste of paradise

  • 4 of 5

We were fortunate enough to stay at this villa for our last 4 days of our vacation, we felt like this was paradise. We were able to get the best of Costa Rica since the location was perfect, in the mountains where we could hear the monkeys, it was also very private and quiet. Furthermore it's only 15-20 minutes drive from downtown Tammarindo, where we could enjoy many restaurants as well as the beach. The roadway leading to the villa can be deceiving but once you get there, you'll forget about it. There was also the leisure of having services from a maid as well as a pool boy. The services offered were great. We also dealt with Caroline in person and she was a pleasure. This villa is everything you need. We will return to this establishment our next time in Costa Rica. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to friends and family members.

Amazing Luxury Home

  • 5 of 5

Villa Kanda was the perfect home away from home for my family's stay in the Tamarindo area of Costa Rica. This home is beautiful! The views were breath taking! We could have spent the week lounging around the pool, reading books and listening for the morning calls of the howler monkeys and been perfectly content. Instead we chose to visit several local beaches, drove to Monte Verde, attended a bull riding event in Villa Real and went horseback riding. All of these activities and more were convenient to the location of the home. (Monte Verde was a bit of a drive but manageable for a one day excursion)

I also cannot say enough about the staff that comes with the home. A maid and gardner take care of the home daily. Yamulette arrives early every day! She will clean the entire house, she will do your laundry as well as make sure pool towels and bathroom towels are fresh. She will e set your breakfast table in the outdoor dining area and make fresh orange juice. Wilbur takes care of the pool and makes sure the grounds are immaculate. (He even rinsed our rental cars one day to remove the dust) They both are very quite, most of the time we didn't realize they were at the house we just enjoyed the benefits of their labor.

Caroline the property manager was also perfect. She made us feel welcome from day one! She was helpful with recommendations for things to do, provided information and a house phone in the event we might need her. In fact we did need her to help with one of the safes when we didn't pay attention to the instructions for operation. Caroline was pleasant when we needed her help and came by quickly to help us remedy the situation.

Additionally, Caroline offered a recommendation for a chef. We hired the chef for our evening meal on the day we arrived. The meal was delicious! A tasty seafood meal, including an appetizer, main entry and desert. Thanks to Caroline for the wonderful recommendation!

If you are planning a week long vacation I highly recommend this Villa Kanda .... only I would suggest you stay two weeks!

Owner's Response: Dear Shirley, I can't believe how many activities you got to do in just one week! The best thing is that you still had time to enjoy the house. Even though you stayed only a week, I bet it felt longer! We love to see family gathering for their vacation, spending some time with each other and having such a good stay at Villa Kanda. Please come again anytime! Best to you all, Caroline

We'll be back!

  • 5 of 5

Caroline, Yamileth and Wilder.. thank you SO MUCH for having us for the week. Our group of seven could not in our wildest dreams have imagined how neat a place we had rented, until stepping foot into this paradise. From the bumpy, laugh inducing off roading to the villa to the fresh squeezed OJ and meticulously up-kept home, everything was spot on! The weather was perfect and we enjoyed getting to know the area through Caroline's suggestions. Definitely recommend the yoga with Mary as well as local charters, visiting the sodas, beaches and beyond. Also, wake up early and sleep with the doors open to hear the monkey fams in the trees!

Again, thank you.. we look forward to returning!
