Welcome to Coho House, situated in a quiet established neighbourhood of Garibaldi Highlands. The woodland garden leads directly into protected Coho Park - a beautiful and typical example of this rare Temperate Rainforest. In November, Coho salmon make their way upstream from the Fraser River and spawn in our creeks, inviting a huge eagle population to the area.
The house itself is on the second floor with a large 20'x20' deck in the front and a split level cedar deck in the back. Take a closer look at the rich birdlife during the day with a StarGazer telescope and wrap up warm in the evening to enjoy the sounds of nocturnal wildlife from the back deck.
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped for entertaining large parties, with a bar and breakfast nook.
The master bedroom with Queen sized bed offers spectacular glacier views in the early morning. Sliding doors open onto the central deck. The bathroom is a semi en-suite arrangement, accessible from this bedroom and from the hall.
Two hazelnut trees in the woodland garden are visible from the double bed in the 2nd bedroom.
There is an extra futon available for extra sleeping if necessary.

Originally from the UK, I am an artist with a background in animated Film +TV. For years I lived a typically nomadic lifestyle, moving from contract to contract around Europe, the US and finally Canada. In 2000 I moved from Phoenix, Arizona to Vancouver and joined a 3D animation company. At the end of my first contract in Vancouver, I made a solo trip to the Queen Charlotte Islands on my motorbike. It was an incredible trip which gave me an insight into the beauty and mystery of the Pacific Northwest Coast. I knew I would never run out of places to paint in BC and that this was somewhere I could put down roots. Through my life of travels I have been treated to wonderful hospitality from friends, family and strangers - I dreamed of one day having a place of my own that I could share. I now work from my home studio on the ground floor of the house - visitors are welcome by appointment.
Zoë Evamy purchased this house in 2004
My initial reason for buying a home in Squamish was its ideal location, half way between Vancouver and Whistler. I commuted for 6 years and was always thrilled by the stunning views and changing weather patterns along the Sea to Sky highway. I was drawn to the small town feel of Squamish, the peaceful, more established area in Garibaldi Highlands and the local scenery. The more time I spent in Squamish the more I found it full of pleasant surprises! As self professed 'Outdoor Adventure Capital of the World!' Squamish has a rich local history, a large and growing art community (30 art groups in town) and a diverse population that is passionate about the surrounding environment.
Imagine waking up to a sunrise over the glaciers seen from the master bedroom, enjoy locally roasted coffee and fresh bread baked on the premises.
Your choices of activities for the days ahead are numerous and varied. The woodland garden leads directly into protected Coho Park - a beautiful example of a rare Temperate Rainforest. Coho salmon make their way upstream from the Fraser River and spawn in our creeks, inviting a huge eagle population to the area.
From here you can follow bike or foot trails which lead to nearby Provincial Park, Alice Lake.
If you prefer something more extreme and exhilerating, you could book a helicopter flight from nearby Squamish airport and view Garibaldi Provincial Park from the air.
World Class skiing is 45 mins away in Whistler, 30 minutes to pristine cross country trails at the Callaghan Valley.
If you want a comfortable, centrally located place to stay and visit Squamish, this is it. Zoe made us feel very welcome and was very knowledgeable about things to do in the area. Our beds were comfy, kitchen well equipped and very clean. The Sea-to-Sky gondola was a short drive away. We had an amazing lunch at the micro brewery in downtown and enjoyed the farmers' market on Saturday. The deck was a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and bite to eat while admiring the beautiful scenery. Thanks, Zoe. We hope to return ☺
We had a great stay, everything was perfect. Because we were visiting our son who is a student at Quest University we appreciated being so close. We also enjoyed the trails of Coho Park so near by.
Clean, comfortable and well equipped for cooking and relaxing. Great place to use as a home base for a mtn biking trip with the boys. The deck was a nice place to snooze with a beer in the sun after a ride.
Our second stay at Coho House, and we received the same warm welcome from Zoe. We stayed for one week and, once again, enjoyed the beautiful area around Squamish; hiking, golfing and after our energetic days, relaxing in her comfortable house. We had wonderful weather, so we were able to enjoy evenings on the deck, sipping a drink as the sun set over the mountains whilst we cooked our meat or fish on the barbecue. Thank you, Zoe - we'll be back.
Thank you, Zoe, for a wonderful stay at Coho House. Your house is beautiful and so well equipped with everything you could need. You made us feel very welcome, and I love that you have your own paintings around the house. What a fantastic location! Barbecuing out on the deck most nights was so relaxing - and the view from your deck and living room is amazing.
There were so many things to see and do close by, and I know we didn’t get to see or do everything this time. We will be back. We loved the closeness of the house to so many lovely walks, lakes, the valleys and the Chief, and the Sea to Sky gondola was a real treat. I’d definitely recommend hiring a car to get up to Whistler and other places to visit, walk and hike; the wildlife and birds are so different to those in Australia.
Squamish has a very friendly atmosphere. The Farmer’s Market on Saturday had a huge variety of food and crafts, and the ginger beer was delicious. We bought our fish and meat at Nester’s for most evening meals to do on the barbecue. We tried out the Japanese restaurant in Squamish and it was well worth it: huge variety, and a great bustling atmosphere.
Our Canada trip was all and more than we could have hoped for. We are spreading the word to our friends back home.
The Coho house was perfectly located for our family's mt bike vacation. The home is in a quiet area and Zoe was wonderful. The kitchen was wonderful and well stocked. The house worked very well for our family bike vacation. I would recommend the Coho house for any family visiting Squamish.
