Boyd Acres House Rental Photos and Description

House, 5 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 14)

You'll love this one of a kind house, located in a one of a kind spot!

The 4000 sq. ft. home is in a gated subdivision on the Deschutes River. The back looks out at the river and across to the river trail where bikers and hikers pass by throughout the day. With no houses across the river, it feels like you're out in the country, but you're right in town!

The main level is mostly great room with huge picture windows looking out to the river. The spacious kitchen with seating at the marble island is a natural gathering spot - and cooks will love the fully equipped kitchen with high end appliances including a 6 burner gas cooktop. The other side of the great room is the living area which has a gas fireplace and 70' HD TV with surround sound. Stepping outside onto the main deck, you will find yourself looking down on one of the prettiest sections of the Deschutes River. This is a fabulous place to spend the evenings. The sun sets early behind Awbrey Butte so there is a long twilight. Also on the main level is a full bathroom and an office/bedroom with a queen size bed.

Upstairs are two bedrooms. One is a nice sized bedroom with a queen bed and its own full bath. The other is the master. It's very spacious with a king bed, sitting area, and a huge private deck out over the roof. The bathroom is over the top with dual sinks, walk-in shower, jetted bath, and a washer and dryer.

Go downstairs to the lower level and you'll find yourself in the game room. It has a full size pool table, arcade games, pub table and chairs, couches, a 40' TV and great views of the river. Adjacent to the game room, there is a spacious bedroom with a terrific river view and a queen size bed. There is also a huge bunk room with two sets of bunkbeds and a queen bed. Further back you'll find a theater with a 100' screen and high quality surround sound. There's a PlayStation 3 that's really cool on the big screen with the surround sound. Rounding out the bottom level are two full bathrooms. The best part of the basement level is the covered granite patio overlooking the river. Watch the wildlife while you enjoy the shade on a warm summer day; or soak in the hot tub after skiing in the winter.

About Rick Gordon

I'm a carpenter / general contractor. I moved to Bend from Hawaii with my wife who grew up here. Since I like to golf, snowboard, and mountain bike I can't think of a better place to live.

Rick Gordon purchased this house in 2003

Why Rick Gordon chose Bend

This house is the culmination of years of dreaming, planning, work, and a little luck. A friend found the lot while visiting one of the neighbors. I couldn't believe that there was a lot on the river that was so conveniently located yet didn't even feel like it was in town. After considering a partnership with him to do a spec home, my wife and I decided to buy it for ourselves. Four years and many plans later, we finally started building. We finally moved in February of 2010. Unfortunately, my wife passed away from cancer. Suddenly I found myself with this huge house that is too much for my son and me. Since I love this house too much to sell, I decided to finish off the basement and make it a vacation rental so others can enjoy it. Of course, I also like that I can come use it still.

What a great GNO "girls night out" get away. The house was great for the 13 of us.

  • 4 of 5

The house was walking distance to trail head along the deschutes that afforded us gals a nice morning walk before enjoying shopping, great restaurants, art, and and the colors of fall in Bend. There were a couple issues with home but the owner was very responsive. Would highly recommend this home rental.

Outstanding Stay that is close to everything!

  • 5 of 5

This year, our family vacation included a week's stay here with 7 of us, and it was nice that everyone had their own bathroom. My in-laws are in their early 80's and my father in-law just had hip replacement surgery the week before so they opted for the bedroom on the main floor. It worked out fine for them since they get up at the crack of dawn anyway. I did make some adjustments to their room though by rolling up the two area rugs near the bed as they slid around easily on the concrete floor and posed a trip hazard. Some backing on the carpet may help alleviate this problem.

LAYOUT: I think we all agreed that we liked the layout of the house, which provided everyone with their own area. There are some stairs though so if you have more than one couple that can't go up and down stairs, that may pose a problem. The downstairs is set up nicely with a pool table, movie room and video games. We had a ball playing golf and some retro video games (Pac Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga). The downstairs area also has a couple of other bedrooms and access out the back to the hot tub, where you have a nice view of the river. The Ping-Pong table in the garage finished off the entertainment so everyone was happy. There were plenty of places to just sit and read a book too, taking in the river views from any of the three levels. This house is perfect for families with pre-teens, teen-agers or young adults. Toddlers, I'm not so sure because there are such drop offs. However, the decks all have adequate gating and if you just watch the young ones, I think it would be okay.

SUPPLIES: Boy, we took turns cooking so we used a variety of utensils, pots and pans without ever missing anything. The same goes for garbage bags, cutlery, flatware etc. Although there was no A/C, we didn't really have a problem staying cool. We were close to everything: River House for dinner, McKay Cottage and we even walked into the Mill District, which was 4 miles. About 20 minutes by bicycles (which we rented). Park is really close with good trail access. Only negative I can think of was house next door was pretty close but it was vacant and for sale, so never was an issue.

Property was just like the photos described, very clean and cared for. Two problems were immediately addressed by the owner (video game reset and door lock which were easy fixes) Thanks for a wonderful stay. Activities that we did was brewery, distillery tour, bike rental, kayak rental and lots of shopping!

This beautiful riverfront home has it all! Looking forward to a return trip!

  • 5 of 5

The view and serenity of the river would have to be our favorite part of the property. Our family of seven thoroughly enjoyed our stay. There is plenty of space for everyone to have their own privacy and room for more. We had an extended family BBQ night with lots of room for all to enjoy time together, whether we were on the deck (1 of 3) or kitchen and living room. Family nights consisted of many pool and ping pong games or movie night in the theater room. There is so much to do we didn't even get a chance to check out the hot tub! We were very close to many walking and biking trails along the river and next to Sawyer Park. You are close enough to take a nice long walk or short 10 minute drive into town. Tumalo Falls is a great nearby hike, it seems everything is just 10 minutes away. Floating the river is a fun family event. You can get in at either Riverbend Park or Farewell Park for a longer float. You get out at Drake Park. Our group also enjoyed checking out all the breweries, too many to choose from! The owner Rick, was very responsive when we had any questions. We would highly recommend this home and hope to return again soon.

Great riverfront location

  • 5 of 5

Awesome house - having coffee on the deck each morning, looking out over the two gorgeous scenery, was the highlight of everyone's day. Being able to access the trails of the adjacent park from the neighborhood was great also. We had large group with kids, and the 5 bathrooms were essential. Pool table, video games, ping pong, hot tub - we had a great time!

Picturesque views

  • 4 of 5

We checked out today 7/23/16 from a week stay for our family reunion that included 13 of us and 5 cars - wonderful memories were made and the home accommodated all very comfortably. Lots of things to do even on days we chose to stay home; the city of Bend always has a wide variety of activities for all ages in the summer plus warm days and cool nights! We recommend 5 Fusion on Wall where we hosted a fabulous dinner in their new private dinning room. I did supply hangers for hall and master bedroom closet. Rick Gordon a very responsive owner when questions came up. We hope to return soon(er) than later:-)))

Excellent House, Great Location

My extended family (8 adults, 3 teenagers) stayed for a week. The house worked great, everybody had plenty of room. Great view and amenities, easy to get to downtown or back onto the highway. Highly recommend.
