Great place with nature in your back yard!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cabin but the stream was amazing. The kids loved it and the fire pit for roasting marshmellows. Best vacation ever! First time ever seeing elk, we loved everything about our trip.

Had a great time in Maggie Valley big cabin accommodated our large group. Very enjoyable cabin

  • 4 of 5

Positives: great location, beautiful setting, on the creek nice cabin. We had plenty of hot water for all 14 of us and enough beds Loved the hot tub and sitting on the deck listening to the creek. Really nice fire pit. The cabin was pretty but needed a few repairs broken closet door, kitchen cabinet, & refrigerator drawer. The basement had a musty smell which improved in a couple of days and the kitchen and bathrooms generally need a more thorough cleaning especially the kitchen cabinets. There are only two air conditioners (wall units) for a 4300 square foot cabin which is not adequate if it's hot. We had lovely cool weather so it wasn't really an issue. The cabin was quite expensive for us , however considering all and our large group I would rent this cabin again . Overall rating is very good. Thanks

Nice Place with a great floor plan

  • 4 of 5

The home is well appointed and comfortably furnished. It was clean and we had plenty of towels and dishes for our party of 12. We were surprised that there was A/C only in two of the bedrooms. It would have been more comfortable to sleep with A/C but we managed. If you are staying in the room with skylights or the loft you will be up as soon as the sun rises because it is bright. No sleeping in for us. The kitchen was small especially for a group our size. The pots and pans are poor quality and cooking anything was difficult.

It was ideal that there was one bathroom on each floor.

The creeks/streams on the property were amazing. We enjoyed a fire in the fire pit one evening.

The hot tub was nice and very clean.

The owner was nice when we contacted him.

We did bring an enormous amount of meat to smoke in the advertised smoker but it was not there. There was small charcoal grill and no other options. We explained to the owner that we brought a large amount of meat to smoke in the advertised smoker. He apologized and explained a few renters before us had cracked it and it was at the welder and wouldn't be back until late August. I was a little frustrated that not only were not informed of this but also that no attempt was made to help us borrow or rent a smoker or larger grill. We had to make all of this meat now but just hours and hours everyday on a small charcoal grill instead of all at once on the smoker.

The gravel road up to the house is no joke. Don't arrive after dark on your first day. The driveway was the best on the street. Very easy to get in and out of the driveway.

Overall it was a nice enough property.

Love the Creek!

  • 4 of 5

We had a blast on our trip and enjoyed the cabin. We had about 12 there and had plenty of room. Kitchen was well equipped. The creek was definitely an awesome feature. We LOVED sitting on the porch listening to the creek's running water. I would give it a 5-star, except there was no air-conditioner. On the website it specifically says it has A/C but there was none to be found. Thankfully it wasn't very hot when we were there, but if it would have been hot we really would have had some major issues. We did see Elk several times while there, one time they were actually on the street right in front of our house which was cool.

Owner's Response: We only put in the AC units when needed. The temp at 4400ft rarely gets above 74, but if it does our cleaning crew will come out & install them.

Comfortable and spacious house, but it really doesn't accomodate 14 comfortably

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the house but in my opinion it is a stretch to say that it sleeps 14. There are beds for 10, 2 futons and two sofas in the main living room. There was also a rollaway bed that kept collapsing. So, I can see how they claim to sleep 14. The futons are slightly better than the floor and the sofas are a little better than the futons. Many enjoyed the hot tub - that seemed to be a hit. TV in the main room was great. There were other TVs but I don't think we tried them. Wi-fi was about useless - we couldn't do much with it. There were towels for 8 and we called the management company about that. Someone came the next day and gave us more towels. The kitchen has a lot of stuff and we did well except we couldn't find 14 cereal/soup bowls. Since we came with plastic ware other than bowls we don't know if there were 14 of other service items. We had trouble finding the linens for the 4 sleeping things beyond the 10 beds but ultimately found them in a basket in one of the closets. Which brings up another concern, there were no instructions in the house other than directions to Wal-Mart, etc. and instructions to turn thermostats down to 55 when we left. Typically you find a list of things to do and not to do. Urban style garbage cans were no problem for animals so we had to clean up the debris from them searching the trash. Clothes washer and dryer worked. Interestingly, the 8 that got towels the first night were stripped of them the next morning and they were washed for redistribution. Fortunately we got towels that day.
