Owner/Manager purchased this lodge in 2004
Parkway Creek is very relaxing, easy to get to, Great parking, has a nice yard area, has big creek in back yard & small one running beside house. Has separate basement with a REAL game room (great for kids). has private master on top floor, separate hot tub building for privacy, you can ride ATV's right form house with over 100 miles of trails, or you can hike. also you may see ELK just walking through the yard at any time.
We enjoyed the house but in my opinion it is a stretch to say that it sleeps 14. There are beds for 10, 2 futons and two sofas in the main living room. There was also a rollaway bed that kept collapsing. So, I can see how they claim to sleep 14. The futons are slightly better than the floor and the sofas are a little better than the futons. Many enjoyed the hot tub - that seemed to be a hit. TV in the main room was great. There were other TVs but I don't think we tried them. Wi-fi was about useless - we couldn't do much with it. There were towels for 8 and we called the management company about that. Someone came the next day and gave us more towels. The kitchen has a lot of stuff and we did well except we couldn't find 14 cereal/soup bowls. Since we came with plastic ware other than bowls we don't know if there were 14 of other service items. We had trouble finding the linens for the 4 sleeping things beyond the 10 beds but ultimately found them in a basket in one of the closets. Which brings up another concern, there were no instructions in the house other than directions to Wal-Mart, etc. and instructions to turn thermostats down to 55 when we left. Typically you find a list of things to do and not to do. Urban style garbage cans were no problem for animals so we had to clean up the debris from them searching the trash. Clothes washer and dryer worked. Interestingly, the 8 that got towels the first night were stripped of them the next morning and they were washed for redistribution. Fortunately we got towels that day.
The cabin was very comfortable and roomy; much nicer than the pictures. We had 4 couples and one extra person stay for an extended weekend. The kitchen was well equipped, the hot tub was clean and perfect with the cover, as it rained our first evening there. The sound of the creek flowing was very peaceful. The cabin was extremely clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.
House was very clean, everyone had plenty of room, we had 12 people. Game room in basement was PERFECT for the kids, they did not want to leave ever! Creek in backyard was wonderful, love just sitting in swing & listen to it. All the beds sleep good, sheets were clean & comfort was nice. We will be back every year, found our new vacation home.
We rented Parkway Creek for a week, to celebrate our mother's 80th birthday, 3 families-12 people. The place was nice and clean, and comfy for all 12 of us.
The kids loved playing in the creek, and the smores at the fire pit. Very easy to get in an out of with a regular car. We visited the Biltmore House, and downtown Ashville. Great location for doing stuff in Maggie Valley, Waynesville, Ashville, Cherokee. We saw a herd of Elk everyday on Mash Stomp road, and lots of other wildlife. There was a musty smell in the basement when we first arrived, but upon opening up the house it mostly went away, the house could use a maintenance man to spend a couple of hours just tightening up towel holders, and door thresholds. Most of us did not have cell coverage but some did, not a problem with a land line at the house, and Wi-Fi(don't expect high speed--it was real slow, but worked fine for checking e-mails.)
We enjoyed our stay and would rent again in the future.
We love the house, had everything we needed for the whole family. The parking was very easy, had room for all 5 cars. The game room for the kids was great, they all did not want to leave. Very clean house, had no problems with anything. We will be back next year.
Our extended family enjoyed ourselves in this roomy cabin in a beautiful location. This property had plenty for my children to do, spend time outside at the creek or play inside in the game room. My elderly parents came with us and enjoyed spending time on the porch, or relaxing inside doing puzzles. The area offers many nearby attractions and plenty of things to do. Just a short drive away from Cherokee, and Cataloochie where we went to see elk in the valley, and the entrance to the Smokey Mountains. We would definitely recommend this cabin to families. It was a great place for our large family to stay!
