Rocky Mountain National Park House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 8-13)

Spend your vacation or holidays enjoying the Magic of Rocky Mountain National Park and the Three Lakes area within an easy walk from this home located in the Arapahoe National Recreation Area. Enjoy the beauty and majesty of the Rocky Mountains and Grand Lake just outside your door from this newer, beautiful mountain home next to Shadow Mountain Lake and the Rocky Mountain National Park with panoramic views the mountains.

Maximize your time outdoors on the lake with the canoe and 3 Kayaks included for family fun on the water or by taking in the spectacular mountain vistas and wildlife from the many upper and lower decks. Or spend a lazy afternoon lounging on the hammock while reading your favorite novel. And don't forget to make s'mores in the campfire pit. In Winter, nestle up on the couch with your favorite book or read a story to your family as the gas fireplace glows with warmth as the snow gently falls outside the windows.

We are just four minutes from the town of Grand Lake and the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. Grand Lake provides a classic 'old west' town ambiance and fun for the whole family. From there you can enjoy the shops, restaurants, mini-golf, guided horseback riding, guided and unguided snowmobile and ATV rentals, go-carts, bumper boats and more.

Rocky Mountain National Park is home to an abundant wildlife population including elk, deer, moose, bears, porcupines and foxes (many of these pass through the rental property as well). Miles of hiking and snowshoeing trails are accessible from the home as well as access to the National Park and the Arapahoe National Recreation area.

Trail Ridge Marina is just down the road and offers pontoon and sport-boat rentals. For the adventurous, you can also snowmobile across the lakes in the winter! Book early as this is a year round vacation rental and books full and fast each season. There is no better place to spend the holidays than in the mountains of Colorado.

NOTE: We DO NOT allow gatherings or events (family reunions, weddings, rehearsal dinners, etc.) of any kind to take place in our home. The home is restricted to the specific number of guests staying in the home that we approve and can accommodate for sleeping. We receive multiple inquiries as such so want to provide notification here to help save you time in your vacation rental search.

Great Setting for a "Winter Wonderland" Gathering!

  • 4 of 5

This house was perfect for our extended family get away between Christmas and New Year's Day! The area was quiet and the views from the loft, of the sparkling snow in the trees and on the mountain were lovely. We enjoyed walks and used the snowshoes for short snowshoeing treks right outside our doors, and the sleds on the free sledding hill (recommended by the maintenance man) on the edge of town which provided several hours of fun for many in our group on two occasions. There was room for all of us (12) to gather in the main living/dining area for games and meals, while the additional space in the family room downstairs and the sitting area in the loft allowed for privacy and smaller, more intimate groupings. The large kitchen was amazingly well provisioned with plates, utensils, pots and pans and many appliances like a crock pot, a blender, etc. We had a few maintenance issues, like a thermostat in the master bedroom that wouldn't come on and a fireplace in the same room that didn't work which made for a chilly first night for two in our party, but the maintenance man was quick to respond the next day to assess the problem and secured a repairman within a few hours, who was at least able to replace the thermostat and bring the temperature up a little. The pantry was in a bit of disarray when we arrived and had a number out-dated food items stored in it, as did the refrigerator, and there were signs of less-than-optimum cleaning (cobwebs from the loft railing to the dining room light, messy cabinets under the kitchen and bathroom sinks) here and there, but we didn't let these detract from our overall enjoyment of this property. We'd definitely recommend this house for large families or groups and would enjoy experiencing it in the summer, too, some time in the future!

Family from Texas, Colorado and California came to this beautiful cabin for Christmas and had a wonderful time. Plenty of room for everyone, cabin is beautiful and scenery was spectacular! Lots to do nearby - sledding, snowmobiling, sleigh rides. Would definitely come back again.

For us, not worth the money

  • 3 of 5

We rented this house with another family and both felt it's misrepresented by the description. First of all, you CANNOT see the lake from the house, nor is the house lake front property. We spent more than we would normally have, thinking that this was right on the lake. The house is large and does sleep as many as it claims. However, we hope you like bears and logs, because this has the typical cheesy "log cabin" decor.

One of the main reasons we rented this property instead of some others we saw was because we wanted to spend time on the water. Joe Penta told us that we could carry the canoes/kayaks to the canal, which is across the street. The embankment is very, very steep and I'm not sure how anyone could really do that. You can reach part of the lake by walking a bit, but I'm not sure you'd want to walk that far carrying a canoe. We ended up spending more money and just renting boats in town.

If you don't mind not being on the lake and you don't care about how overpriced this property is, you will probably be satisfied. We were a little disappointed that this property didn't have a hot tub, as every other mountain property we have rented does.

Wonderful Property

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful property to stay at on our vacation. A short walk to the lake & the mountains from the front porch. Joe was absolutely wonderful to deal with; would definitely recommend this place for Family reunions or just large family get-aways.

My only recommendation.... leave instructions on the trash days. We had so much trash & had no idea when the trash collected or what to do with it. We felt bad leaving the can full :) Other than that, perfection!!!

Owner's Response: So Glad you had a nice stay Sharon and thanks for the kind words. Regarding trash pick up service, there is not a service, the cleaners take away the trash at the end of each guests stay since all stays are typically between 2 and maximum 7 nights. Leaving it by the barrels in the garage was PERFECT.

Great family reunion spot

  • 5 of 5

Well appointed house with tons of space. Great for families with smaller children since there is good separation between the bedrooms. Great location for access to Grand Lake and the west side of the National Park.
