Quiet Apartment In The Very Centre Of Paris. 1st floor (2nd American)

THE Centre of Paris - yet quiet.

One bedroom apartment, 1st floor (2nd American) no elevator, sleeps 4 - double queen sized bed 160cm in the bedroom plus a double bed settee (seats 3, sleeps 2) in the living area, plus a second settee which seats 2. In a traditional building. Restaurants/shops in abundance within 2 minutes walk. Only a 4 minutes stroll to the Louvre and the Seine. For those of you who want a calm romantic break in the very heart of Paris the apartment is not facing a main street (which also means there is no view from the two large traditional windows in the living area - they look out on to the top of a security glass covered internal courtyard) so no traffic noise to disturb you - peaceful yet no need to use public transport to dine or shop.

Super fast Wifi via fibre optics, telephone for local calls. You are welcomed at the apartment by appointment, no need to collect the keys elsewhere. Washing machine but no dryer, but a pull out line is in the bathroom and a laundry store immediately opposite the building.

Walk out to find classic french charm in local bars, fresh baguettes and croissants from the local boulangeries in the street - everything close to hand.. 2 mins walk from a shopping centre. A personal view: I've stayed all over Paris, I get to talk to everyone and find the Parisians very friendly and helpful. Even though this apartment is in the absolute centre of Paris you will still dine and shop with the locals as well as tourists - and I find that Rue Saint Honore is almost like a little village, everyone stops for a chat, everyone knows each other. This area has it's own wonderful charm that still pleases me after many years of experiencing and enjoying Paris life - and of course for tourists the location cannot be bettered!

A few questions we've been asked:

Does the apartment suit 4 adults? If you are Parisian you would say yes to that, but if you want a large space (the apartment is 40m²) then go for a two bedroom apartment (and pay the significant extra price!). Please note that the bathroom/wc is only accessible by passing through the bedroom - which may make it unsuitable on occasion for two couples.

Does the apartment have a view over Paris?

No, the two large traditional windows look over an internal courtyard covered with security glass. On the other hand you will not be troubled with traffic or general street noise - an enormous benefit in a city centre!

What floor? First, i.e. one up from the ground

Lift? No, but it's not far up!

Is the area 'typically touristic'?

The street is a mix of Parisian flat owners who live and work there, mixed in with tourists who rent out various flats. And it is delightful, like a village in the middle of Paris.

Is the apartment building pretty?

It is a traditional Parisian building, the external paintwork is in need of improvement and will be re-done soon. Inside the building the public areas (stairs etc) were completely renovated in November 2012.

Is renting a private apartment the same as staying in a hotel?

Thankfully not, you eat what you want, when you want. On the other hand there is no daily maid service nor 24/7 reception service - you do your own cleaning up.

Is there a cleaning service payable on departure?

A welcoming and cleaning fee is included in your quoted price. You do not need to clean on your departure but you are expected not to leave dirty crockery and we ask you to take out all rubbish.

Are basic things like shower gel, loo rolls tea, coffee included?

No, but there's a shop for the little urgent items just across the street, you will find limited basic needs in the apartment on your arrival though.

Is the flat 'safe'? Security keypad entry to the courtyard, high security key to enter the main building, lockable apartment door - so I'd say yes.

Can you order taxis for me? - please look in the welcome booklet in the apartment , there are taxi firms there, use the apartment phone, they speak english - it's easy in Paris!

Contact us: the owner lives in Paris but is very often abroad. He is therefore aided with bookings by Nicolas, who is English but has lived in France for a long time and does it mostly for the pleasure! The apartment is used exclusively for short/medium term guests, giving you the benefit of a private owner but a structured and (we hope) efficient yet personal service. You will be welcomed at the apartment (normally after 3pm unless otherwise agreed). Give us a latest departure time (normally before 11am), there are no problems for very early departures.

Please note that the bathroom is "en suite" - i.e. you access it only via the bedroom. Any one sleeping on the bed settee has to pass via the bedroom to get to the WC and bathroom, which means that the apartment is possibly only suitable for families, not two couples - that is for you to decide.

Hello, I'm Nicolas - I look after the reservations for the owner, Amaury, more or less as a hobby. All emails and calls will come to me directly - you can be assured of a personal but fast and professional service at all times. I am english by birth, have lived in France for 15 years and expect to stay here. I live in Brittany, which is the very west of France, my hobbies include sailing and sea rowing (in all weathers) to see my rowing club website look at avironmerconcarneaufullstopcom - it's just in french though! I visit Paris very frequently of course, my preferred city by far! On arrival you will be welcomed at the apartment by Cherif or his replacement at a time of your choosing (normally after 3pm arrival, before 11am departure - but ask us if that is inconvenient for you and we'll try to sort something out!). For departure - we'll tell you where to leave the keys - so will ask you for a 'latest departure time' so we can organise ourselves for cleaning - early morning departures are therefore not a problem.

Why Nicolas chose 1st Arrondissement Louvre

The apartment is walking distance from many key tourist sites in Paris and restaurants, shops etc are all close by. And it is quiet for Paris - the windows look out onto an internal courtyard = no view = no street noise, an important plus in a city. It is on rue Saint Honoré and despite the central location you'll find almost a village atmosphere. There are lots of 'locals' - you will find a very positive and friendly attitude everywere - the French can be a bit reserved compared to elswhere though - it is seen as being professional here to be somewhat formal. The street is narrow, not much traffic, you'll find it agreable. If you don't speak french then at least say 'bonjour', 'merci', 'au revoir' - it is truly appreciated. Yep, I particularly love rue Saint Honoré, I hope and expect you will also.

ps - 3 minutes from the Louvre and the river, 3 minutes from 3 metro stations for more distant attractions (not everything is in the centre!) - my tip - don't miss out on the 'Batobus' - sort of a bus on the river, nearest stop just behind the Louvre.

Convenient and quiet

We loved the location of this apartment. We were a two minute walk from the metro and the louvre. It was an easy walk to the Seine, Notre Dame, shopping and the the market. There are many restaurants within a two block radius. The apartment was comfortable and cozy for 2 of us. It was clean and quiet for sleeping. Perfect for our Paris stay.

Amazing location

This apartment was perfect for my wife and my trip to Paris for 5 days. It is within easy walking distance to the Louvre, Ile de Cité, and Les Halles which is a major connecting stop on the metro. The neighborhood is full of cozy restaurants and shops.

Nicholas was an incredibly gracious host. The apartment is compact but well set up. We cooked breakfast in the morning and anything we needed for a picnic lunch. We would happily stay here again the next time we have a chance to come back to Paris.

Enjoyable stay

We are a couple with a young kid and we were looking for an apartment in the center of Paris. This one was a great choice, very clean, quiet and comfortable. Nicolas made booking the place very easy and we were greeted by Cherif upon arrival. we ended up eating out most nights in the area but we appreciated having the kitchen for our breakfasts.

Would definitely recommend to our friends!

Lovely

We had a great time, the apartment was in an excellent location, very clean and great for the price. The security is good, only people who know the security code can get into the courtyard, then you need to unlock the downstairs door and the three locks on the apartment door itself. We felt very safe, but it has to be said that the area is very safe also – lots of very kind locals mixing with the tourists in the small bars – we felt at home. If you want nightclubs this is not the area for you, but there are restaurants galore of all price ranges and tastes and we walked to lots of tourist sites, we also took the “Batobus” on the river – hop on and off to get to the Eiffel Tower etc etc – brilliant (thanks for the advice Nicolas). This was our first stay in Paris, we enjoyed every second!

Better than a hotel, a great stay

we are frequent visitors in Paris and this is our first time staying in an apartment. the experience was much better than the hotels, the apartment has all the amenities as a hotel room but we were much more independent and it was a much more charming ambience. Checking in was very smooth and the apartment was in a clean and cosy condition. We enjoyed being able to cook and explore Paris from such a central location. We will definitely return for our next visits.

Clean, quiet, perfect to visit Paris

The apartment was exactly what I needed. Very quiet, included everything I could hope for and the space is very nice.

The location could not be better, we simply never used public transportation as it is so central and most of what we wanted to visit was walking distance. I would definitely recommend this apartment, clean, perfect location, quiet and Nicolas was very responsive and helpful. It made everything easy, thank you!

Your romantic apartment, 5 minutes from the Louvre and the Seine, restaurants and traditional shops in the same street and only two minutes walk to the nearest metro station. The 'rue de Rivoli' is 2 minutes away, probably the most celebrated street in Paris for your shopping envies. More than 10 restaurants within a minutes walk from the apartment, of quality (think of making a reservation for these - it's a much sought after area to eat) through to smaller restaurants, french cuisine of course but Chinese and others as well. Local bars (french style of course) only a minute away.

Food shopping in the same street - tradition boulangerie for your morning croissants, baguettes and delicious gateaux. If you're feeling adventurous in the evening, the 'Champs Elysée', the biggest street in the city, is a short (10 minutes) tube trip away for night clubs etc. Far enough away to not be troubled by the noise, close enough to get there easily.

We clean on your departure, please note that doesn not include taking out of rubbish and empty bottles etc - the trash bins are in the courtyard just below (we ask you to do that because sometimes we don't arrive to clean until the following day!). The rental balance on arrival needs to be in euros - sorry, we cannot accept credit cards on arrival.
On arrival we will be at the apartment to welcome you - I'll send you an email with all the details you will need (including the entry code to the building!!)
We'll tell you where to leave the keys on departure - so just give us the latest time for your departure so we can arrange cleaning, a very early departure is therefore no problem at all!
The damage protect (or security deposit) is 250 euros - payable either in advance by Paypal (no commission taken off, or give us a personal check on arrival in your currency to the approximate value of 250 euros - we'll tear it up after your departure and guarantee not to cash it unless we've contacted you first (to date we've never had to do that)
