A truly relaxing country getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This place is a gem! The owner has done a wonderful job of creating a relaxing and inviting vacation rental studio. The unit is downstairs in the owner's house, and it has been renovated as a space dedicated as a vacation rental, with all the amenities you would expect when you're traveling, and nothing you don't need.

The studio is very tastefully decorated in keeping with the area. Beautiful antique dressers create a semi-enclosed bedroom space. It's very cozy, clean and uncluttered. The kitchen was very well accessorized and organized. Everything about the place and the owner herself was extremely professional. The bed was very comfortable, and the sofa folded out into a comfortable 2nd bed for our 2.5 year old toddler.

For being a downstairs unit, there was really no noise to speak of from upstairs. The owner is very quiet and once she provides the info you need, she lets you get on with your vacation, but is always a quick email or text away. Very respectful of privacy.

Some details she provided that led to a terrific experience:

- A care package of Croissants and jams

- Children's books, including a sticker book for Ben

- She took the time to provide toiletries for guests that might forget a toothbrush, etc.

- She would check in to see if we needed any new linens/towels

- She offered to pick up any groceries for us if we needed, which, though we didn't need it, was a really nice touch

- She had a binder with all we could need to know about the area, including information she had compiled herself about local restaurants

If I had to nitpick anything, these are super minor, barely worth mentioning.

- The dryer is a bit on the weak side, it would take several cycles to dry clothes. Not sure why, but not very important, since they would get dry eventually.

- The other is that the Cable TV shows a lot of channels, but a lot of them are not part of her cable package. Not a big deal, but not being familiar with the cable package, the result was lots of hunting around and finally giving up. It might help to have a simple list of which channels are received, to keep the searching to a minimum.

But if these are the only issues we could think of (and we can be picky), it's because the owner has done a WONDERFUL job of creating a relaxing getaway, and has thought of just about EVERY detail she could possibly think of.

Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'll definitely be aiming to rent it again next time we're visiting my family in Sutton!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the terrific review! And thank you for pointing out the issues with the dryer and the cable channels. I had the appliance repair man in this morning and it turns out the dryer's vent was blocked . . . it is now cleared and works great :-) Regarding finding available channels on the TV, I agree it can be frustrating. I will work on creating a list of available channels to facilitate the search.. I very much enjoyed having your family here and hope you return for another stay.

Fit the bill for what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Barr keeps her place clean and for a basement pad, it has lots of windows and light. Barr met us upon arrival, was friendly and helpful, and her space is within a five minute drive to the ski lodge. It was perfect for our four day ski trip.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

I was originally scheduled to stay at the studio for a month, but stayed there for two weeks in the end following the unexpected death of my father. It was a difficult time for me, but Barr, Beth (sister) and Pema (the dog) couldn’t have been nicer and more supportive; I feel like they are family now. It was my home away from home, and it was just what I needed. The apartment was much bigger and brighter than I expected. I loved the homemade jam, bread and butter as well as the Sutton spring water upon arrival. I did not have a car while I was there, and survived well using the shuttle up to Mt Sutton to go skiing, going for walks in and around the village to restaurants etc, and using Michael a local driver to pick me up and drop me off at the airport in Montreal. Sutton is a real gem, the people are extremely friendly, the food is amazing, the natural setting is beautiful, the prices competitive and the glade skiing is an unexpected delight. I kept thinking ‘like Vermont, only better’; I only hope more people don’t find out!

Best Accommodation & Cost

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in the Eastern Townships and the best accommodation in tandem with an affordable price was this property. It was a large space with lots of amenities and we were able to walk to the downtown in about five minutes. Overall it was the best accommodation experience of our vacation and when we are back in the area it will be our number one choice.
