This was the second time here for our family of 3. It is in a beautiful location in Redwoods, ferns, with a seasonal creek running right by. The kitchen is very well appointed and had tea, local coffee, and oil and vinegar etc. We were welcomed by fresh flowers and pumpkin bread. The wifi was rapid. It is only 10 minutes to the ocean and Goat Rock State Park. We have also gone hiking at Armstrong Redwood State Park near by. Duncan Mills near by has a good coffee shop, a small general store with some food, and 2 restaurants.
The owner is not near by but she responded quickly by internet to all questions.
Wonderful place to relax, rejuvenate and come back to after exploring the surrounding forests, ocean and river. Encased in the fern room or just sitting on the deck all is well. We will return.
Riverfern is a cute little cottage. The living room had plenty of room to stretch out and relax. There were 4 of us staying there. We really thought that the fresh flowers on the table was the perfect homey touch. Jayne had baked some yummy cookies for us to enjoy. We also enjoyed the biscotti with our hot chocolate. The scenery out the windows was beautiful. Ferns and the redwoods. The area is so quiet, really enjoyed that! You must go to the bakery in Duncans Mills! The cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are SO good! Jayne was very easy to work with. Thank you so much for sharing your vacation home with us!
This is the second time we have enjoyed Riverfern. It is beautifully appointed with all the comforts that make you feel like a treasured guest. Riverfern is a wonderful place to re-group, relax and rest. The only problem we found was that it was difficult to leave!
And thank you again, Jayne, for your kindness and flexibility with our arrival date.
For sure, we will be coming back to Riverfern!

We had a wonderful stay in this cozy home nestled in the redwoods. My preschooler especially loved the fenced front garden and the trail up into the redwood forest out back. She kept saying, "Let's go on an adventure!" Owner was great to communicate with, and the house was just like the pictures.
Our home has a private path along the seasonal creek through the redwood forest and a peekaboo view of the river across the street!
Duncans Mills is a quaint town w/ great shops & art galleries, restaurants, bakery, coffee shop, grocery store w/ organic choices, local meats, wines; check out the website www.duncansmills.net
Less than 15 min from the house is the mouth of the river where you can rent kayaks (wetsuits etc included) and paddle with sea lions! Also a great beach - Goat Rock just south of the town of Jenner and many more as you drive to Bodega Bay .. Less than 15 minutes south.
Lots to do.. Or simply enjoy the tranquility of our home !
