At the entrance of the Yal-Ku lagoon, Villa Gauguin offers a unique view of ocean and lagoon. Bordered by a rocky coastline, Villa Gauguin has direct access to the lagoon, a natural aquarium where you can snorkel, canoe or simply swim while looking for the adorable sea turtles which frequent this area of the Mayan Riviera. Villa Gauguin is an ideal place for those seeking a refined and luxurious environment for their holiday.
The beautiful, semi-circular infinity swimming pool includes a shallow area for children. Whether you are lounging on the ocean side terrace or dining alfresco, you are sure to make the most of the cool sea breezes. Indoors, you will find a home theatre, Sky TV and an interior patio with hammock. Your reservation includes daily housekeeping six days a week.
Villa Gaugin was built in a minimalist style with clean lines that allow full integration with the natural surroundings. The floor-to-ceiling glass windows of Villa Gauguin honor the sea and all its moods. Once you open the entrance door, you will be amazed by the 180 degree view of the Yal-Ku lagoon. The first floor includes an expansive living area with fifteen foot high ceilings. There is a separate dining room. The fully equipped kitchen comes with a separate breakfast corner.
Five immaculate bedrooms accommodate up to twelve guests at Villa Gaugin. The bedroom with queen bed offers a splendid view of the interior garden. The upstairs is comprised of three bedrooms with mesmerizing views of the lagoon and ocean. The master suite features a king bed, walk-in double closet and a bathroom. The two childrens rooms are each furnished with a queen bed, closet and private bathroom. Two rooms with balconies provide views of the mangroves of the Yucatan peninsula.
Just steps from the oceans waters, you will be perfectly positioned for an ultimate sun-filled holiday. The nearby caves Cenote Santa Cruz and Aktun Chen with their stalactites and underground rivers make pleasant choices for a day trip. You may also choose to visit Ek Balam, a Mayan ruin with several structures still intact. However you spend your days in the therapeutic Riviera sun, you are sure to appreciate the comfort and resplendence offered at Villa Gauguin!

Villa Gauguin is located in Akumal, without doubt the quietest and most picturesque village at the heart of the Mayan Riviera.
Akumal is only 22 miles from Playa del Carmen (the fastest growing town in Latin America), 55 miles from Cancun International Airport and 16 miles from the Tulum Mayan ruins.
Akumal, Turtles nest in Mayan, is a favorite place for the sea turtles to lay their eggs. Akumal has two bays with beautiful beaches, ideal for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving as the corral reef is very closed to the coastline.
In the surroundings of Akumal, there are some 200 entrances to the cenotes, subterranean caves with depths up to 170 yards and very clear waters. The main centers for scuba diving in cenotes are in Akumal.
For the golf fanatics, the Playacar resort in Playa del Carmen, has a world-famous 18 holes course and in Puerto Aventuras (15 mn from Akumal), there is a 9 holes course.
For nature lovers, Akumal is close to various ecological parks like:
Xel-Ha 10 Miles
Sian Kaan 25 Miles south of Akumal
X-Caret 20 Miles from Akumal
Aktun-Chen Caves 3 Miles of Akumal
There are two sandy beaches located in Akumal.
Akumal Beach: Located at the entrance of the village (2km from the villa)
Half Moon Bay Beach:Located 300m from Villa Gauguin

Villa Gauguin has to be one of the most beautiful houses I have ever seen- and I do a good amount of group travel in houses similar. The price was so incredibly affordable, and the village/view/everything was perfect.
We utilized the concierge to pre-stock the house, and other small requests, and they were so willing to help. The house manager & housekeeper were so incredible & accommodating.
Everyone at Luxury Retreats was truly top notch-- I can't wait to use them again for our next trip to Dominican. They have a guest for life from me! <3
Thank you all!
Very relaxing holidays in a beautiful location - when watching out of the back of the house, we felt as being on a desert island with the birds as neighbors. Very spacious house with plenty of room for everyone - stunning views from nearly all the windows.
A beautiful home, tastefully decorated, well equipped, secure and very comfortable. A great destination for a family to unwind and spend some quality time together.
Aside from the beautiful and very private setting of the villa, Francisco and Gladys the caretakers were one of the best parts of the vacation. They went above and beyond in their efforts to make us as comfortable as possible. Their cooking of traditional meals was amazing, and we had them cook almost the whole time for us. The scenery from and around the villa was wonderful, and added to the quality time we shared as a family. Great vacation for what we needed for our time together.
