I'm a building contractor by trade. My family and I like to come to Keaton as much as possible. It is a short 75 mile drive from our home.
Danielle Courson purchased this house in 2000
We enjoy fishing, scalloping and the relaxed atmostpher.
The accessiblity to the Gulf.
We have stayed at this house so much it seems like a second home! The remodeling that was completed this year really makes this house stand out. We look forward to many more trips when time and money permits!! Thanks for a great experience.
We stayed this past weekend and we were very impressed. One of our group said "This place is perfect". Plenty of deck space and a nice big porch area. It really made it nice to have the boat docked right outside our door, we just threw in our supplies and jumped in the boat and we were scalloping within 20 minutes. Oh and the scallops co-operated this year!
The house was very comfortable and easy to relax in. The weather didn't cooperate but sitting on the porch during the bad weather was soothing. I hope to be able to rent this place again.
We had a wonderful time. We brought our boat and our 'canine/child' and it was just perfect. There is some construction/ improvements going on but it doesn't interfere with the rental at all. The house was very clean and well equipped. The vibe is unpretentious but everywhere there are little touches that show an artist's eye for detail. It's truly charming and the owner is a doll!
Pictures can be deceiving...First arrived and surveyed the property to find mouse feces in the dresser drawer, yuk! Next door, a few feet away from the property was a shrimper's business with a smell that was awful. Property was not well maintained. 20 miles to nearest town with only a Walmart, a few fast-food restaurants and couple drug stores. I rented the property for 4 weeks but only stayed 2. The owner never offered any kind of reimbursement. I would not go back.
'Linens not provided'...I missed this in the description and unfortunately did not have any towels or linens the first night.
'Some Construction'...there was quite a bit of construction debris near the driveway, including nails actually in the driveway. The balcony needs some work...old wood and very little furniture to actually sit and enjoy the view. What was there was not very nice.
Only saw the top floor of the house which was nice...but the living room shades were cheap and difficult to open/close.
Overall...cute place...but needs some work.
