Roussillon House Rental Photos and Description

With your own indoor garage , 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms

The Villa Rouge is located in the heart of the village, right next to the Main square and the many restaurants and cafés, galleries and shops. Everything you need is just a short-walk away: the bakery, butcher, supermarket, tobacco store, post-office, doctor and chemist’s shop. I also recommend to visit AU BON GOUT DU JOUR , the boutique of my friend Marie-Pierre nearby. Luberon offers you the best of Provence : a sweet climate, many cultural sites to visit, as well as an authentic nature, delicious local products, and a craftsmanship to discover.

The Villa was built in 1849, in the typical architecture of Luberon. Perched on the hill-top, you’ll benefit from an exceptional panoramic view on the Mont Ventoux, the famous mountain in the French artist Paul Cezanne’s paintings, as well as on the plateau of Vaucluse, the ochre quarries and surrounding vineyards.

Its decor, inspired by Provençal style, is authentic and sophisticated, and offers great comfort. The villa has 3 rooms, one of them a Suite. Each room has a bathroom (a shower for both rooms and a bathtub for the Suite). The vast lounge of 60m² is very bright and perfect to relax in. You can browse through the books put at your disposal. There is WIFI connection, Apple TV, Sonos system for your device to play music, games and books.

The house revolves around its “cathedral” kitchen, fully equipped. Located on the ground floor, it has an incredible view on the surroundings. You can welcome there a dozen of guests, and make of it the high-light of your culinary and wine delights.

Outside, there is a big patio, decorated with flowers and plants. Two pergolas allow you to have lunch or rest in the shade. You can also cool in the stone pool, warmed if necessary (4m x 4m). It is equipped with an alarm.

VERY IMPORTANT - You have at your disposal a garage and a laundry with a washing machine, a dryer and a washing line.

The house offers the perfect combination to guarantee you an unforgettable stay in the Luberon : a perfect location in a mythical village, with all the needed shops.

About Marion TIPHAINE

We are a French-American family happy to welcome you in our home ;-)

Why Marion TIPHAINE chose Luberon

The village of Roussillon is one of the most beautiful of France and the second most visited in the Luberon after the village of Gordes. With its festival of ochre colors and hill-top position, it is one of Provence’s jewels. It is hard to depict the true splendor of Roussillon. 17 shades of ochre paint the village’s houses. Imagine the amazing contrast with the green pines, blue sky and red cliffs… Roussillon, with its history, vineyards and unique location, is the French savoir-vivre at its best. In the region of Provence, between the mountains of the Luberon and the Vaucluse, Roussillon sparkles with ochred light. Discover this unique mineral treasure of surprising blazing colors, right in the heart of the world’s most important ochre deposit.

What makes this house unique

To visit : the XIth century parochial church Saint Michel, the tower of the ancient ramparts, with a gothic passage and XIXth century bell tower, Saint Jean castle, the mill, the Ochre and Applied Pigments Conservatory located in a former ochre manufacture. Recommended activities : the ochre trail (entrance fee) will lead you to the 'Giants' Causeway', walking through natural chimneys and several majestic sites carved by water, wind and man. Provençal market : Thursday morning. Festivities : the Ochre Day celebrations on Ascension Day. Traditional cow feria on the last sunday of July. International festival of string quartets in the summer. Illumination of the cliffs during the summer. Many exhibitions from April to October Nearby : the typical Provençal markets of Gordes (20min) - tuesday morning The farmer market of Coustellet (15mn) - sunday morning The secondhand market in the town of Isle on Sorgue (15min) - saturday and sunday morning Hiking in the natural reserve of the Luberon Golf de Saumane (20min) Canoening at Fontaine de Vaucluse (20mn) Horse-ridding

Guestbook comments from the owner

We were a party of four "seniors" on our second visit to the Luberon and this was our first stay in Roussillon. The location of the La Villa Rouge is perfect with great distant views and good access to all of the village amenities with everything close at hand within a short walking distance, literally a minute or two to the shops and restaurants. We particularly liked going to the Boulangerie early every morning for our supplies of bread. We liked the characterful and spacious rooms and the magnificent and unusual dining table. The lounge is very spacious with plenty of seating areas. We really appreciated the efficient and cosy heating system (as the early mornings and evenings were relatively cool in early April), the wi-fi network and the Sonos music system which I could control with my Sonos iPhone app. The excellent en-suite facilities, comfortable beds and well equipped kitchen all contributed to a most enjoyable stay. Jean Raphael of LVB Vaucluse Central was most helpful and very prompt to assist when we had a minor hitch with the boiler when it was refusing to stay on one day - this was quickly resolved and did not detract from our enjoyment of the house. I would have no hesitation in recommending La Villa Rouge and hope that we can return soon. Roussillon makes a good base for exploring the area.

We had some good meals in the Restaurant David in the nearby Le Clos de la Glycine hotel. The restaurant is relatively expensive compared with the others in the village but the food is excellent, well presented and well served by attentive staff and the restaurant has the benefit of great views towards the ochre quarries and across towards Mt. Ventoux. We also enjoyed re-visiting the restaurant La Fontaine in Villars, a friendly family run restaurant with a characterful "antique shop" ambience, with excellent food (the menu changes weekly) where Nadine once again made us feel most welcome. There are plenty of good walking routes within a short drive (as well as a few from the doorstep). There are good views on the walk on the Falaise de Lioux which is close by; a pleasant circular walk between Bonnieux and Lacoste; exploring the Bories on walks from Gordes and Viens; walking from Buoux to Sivergues and back and exploring the old ruins at Fort Buoux en route.

Outstanding Villa, well located, beautifully appointed and very well serviced.

This is not the first villa we have stayed in, but it was certainly the best. We were impressed from the minute we booked. Communication with the owner, Marion, was excellent and our greeting from the agents in Roussillon, Camille and JR, was similarly excellent. The villa itself was well located and allowed us to immerse ourselves in village life as well as access many nearby attractions. Having a garage was a massive bonus given that parking in most small villages is difficult at the best of times. While we had the Villa to ourselves, it is also perfect for a family or group of friends. It was clean, tastefully decorated, well equipped and the beds very comfortable. The inclusion of an apple TV and Sonos added to the ambience. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, were grateful for the hospitality and kindness extended to us and would absolutely recommend this property to couples looking for a quiet getaway or families and groups of friends looking for a central location from which to explore Roussillon and its beautiful ochre sights and the surrounding villages and towns of Provence. Absolutely 5 star.

Wonderful villa in perfect location

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in Villa Rouge this summer. The villa is well placed in a central location with lovely restaurants and shops close by. This was perfect for us with a young daughter as no need to be getting in and out of the car each day. The reception from the villa management team was very warm and welcoming so we felt in good hands for the week. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future!

Stunning Property - Exceeded our expectations.

  • 5 of 5

A beautiful house with the character of Provence ideally situated in the centre of Roussillon with superb views of the Luberon from the garden and pool area and the house. The welcome was well organised and all aspects of the workings of the property were explained by Camille who was always there to help if needed. The follow up service was excellent and any request was responded to immediately . All aspects of the property were perhaps better than described. The lounge was a relaxing haven with stunning views and tranquility. The beds were ultra comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean and fresh. Having a private garage was a bonus.

The bustling village life with many restauants was just a short two minute stroll away. The village itself has meandering payhways through the ochre houses and stopping for a drink and "people watch" was always a pleasure for us. That is, of course, if we could tear ourselves away from the delightful garden.

We were fortunate enough to meet the owner of the property and her delightful family and it was clear they love the property and take pride in providing a wonderful holiday expeience for their guests. We thoroughly enjoyed our three week stay at Villa Rouge and would not hesitate to recommend it to couples and families.

Paradise in Provence

  • 5 of 5

I've rented many homes while in Europe and La Villa Rouge was by far my favorite!

I stayed 8 nights traveling with my daughter and cousin - we could have stayed the summer! We all cried a little when it was time to leave.

Marion's home is perfectly situated in the lovely village of Roussillon, where you are steps away from the shops, cafes and action, yet when you enter the property you are in your own oasis, quiet, complete with a panoramic view while sitting in the pool! Even on the hottest days the home stayed cool. The home is exquisitely decorated. I took photos of every nook and granny, with hopes of bringing ideas back into my home. The kitchen was outfitted to meet all our cooking needs. The beds are very comfortable. the home was spotless. I've rented many homes while

Marion was always lovely and prompt with her responses. Property managers Camille & Jean Raphael warmly greeted us and delightful to know.

Highly recommend this home. But be aware ~ you will fall in love with this home and village and you won't want to leave!

Thank you Marion, Camille et Jean Raphael for making this stay so special. 💖𵠠I will be back.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

My husband, I and 2 friends stayed in this spacious villa for a week in early June. It was perfect. Everything we'd hoped for from the listing and reviews. The villa is centrally located literally just steps (up) to the center of town, but when you are on the patio it is so quiet you could be miles away from the town. The view was really lovely.

There is a garage which is absolutely needed if you have a car since parking is limited in town and metered. It's a bit of a tight squeeze but once we got the hang of it we were fine. There is also a washer and dryer (European style) in the basement.

The villa itself is spacious and well appointed. Everything you could want (including a Nespresso espresso machine) is there. The rooms are large and comfortable. The master bedroom is unusual. It's very large with the bed being on the upper loft. The bathroom is below the loft and its ceiling is a little low. The tub shower combo is great if you want to take a bath but a bit challenging in taking a shower. Once we finally got the shower head situated and it wasn't soaking the floor my husband had to duck under it. I fit fine, but I'm only 5 ft tall. The other challenge of the master was the humidity. There is little ventilation in the room and without the door to the patio open everything felt damp. A de-humidifier would have been a blessing.

The directions provided by the villa owner were great, and they included a recommended stop for groceries along the way. We were met timely by the caretaker and again timely when it was time to checkout, which was a smooth and easy process.

We would definitely return to this beautiful oasis.

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for posting a review and for your kind comments. As in any house it is a work in progress ;-) We had to work with very small houses from the village coupled together to get this bigger space and of course as with any village house especially dating back from 1849 the space can be a challenge ; therefore the tub shower issue. But the other rooms which offer showers options only are more accommodating of higher heights ;-) For the parking the cost is only 3 euros per day with a resident card we provide you usually. I am sorry you were not informed of this. For the humidity I definitely will look into a de-humidifier . I think it is an excellent idea ! I m glad you would consider coming back. Looking forward to it ! Thank you again ! Marion
