28 years ago I came to this beautiful land to heal from cancer. There were no structures on the acres I bought. I lived in a one person tent on the beach that first summer and a healing summer it was: lots of vitamin D from the sun, antioxidants from the many berries, sea protein from the oysters, mussels and clams not to mention the seaweed and the good vegetarian meals and body work a short walk away. NO chemo or radiation just bliss, getting to know how the light changed during the day, watching the eagle pair and their babies in the high fir above me, getting to know the otter family that shared the beach with me, etc. I had no trouble from cancer ever again. after that summer and feel forever grateful to this place. Shelter evolved to tents on platforms through a tiny(8'x8') beach cabin to this rather grand house (1350sq') built in 2004 with the beginnings of a fenced in garden. I am so lucky to have found this simple paradise and am glad to share it with you. I am a child psychologist, trained at Yale and Stanford, in private practice of play therapy and family therapy on Whidbey Island WA. My own time here has showed me that play is truly healing.

Why Heather chose Comox-Strathcona I
The sheer beauty of the place. The purity of the air and water. The chance to watch eagle babies learn to fly from the nest in a tall fir near the house, to learn to fish from the large tide pool on the beach. The proximity to a first class retreat center with great food, massage, beach and interesting programs, while still having privacy and space away. I
What makes this House unique
Truly a healing and fun place full of relaxation and enjoyment, a gathering place of creative people with poetry, music, dancing, art shows, fairs as well as a place to retreat in solitude and quiet, night skies spectacular with multitudes of stars visible, occasional Northern Lights and meteor showers. Wonderful swimming in lake or ocean, etc.

My fiance and a couple with us had a terrific time, hiking, kayaking, building driftwood and stone sculptures on this beach, finding many other amazing beaches , both lake and ocean. Right here from the porch we watched baby eagles (huge ones) learn to fly, while enjoying simple luscious meals local grown and oysters from this beach. We also explored a beautiful hike at the end of this road which led through old growth to a beach stair. At the bottom were moon snail shells and another magical view. The Friday Market was fun, good food, great "crafts", (art, really) plus a great art opening at the actual art gallery, terrific dances at the local hall!
The house is a vacation in itself crafted from all local wood, including driftwood which made a lovely staicase , beds so comfy and each with a view of islands, water and mountains that make you want to linger in bed.
I could go on and on. You get the idea: we loved our stay, except it was too short.
An absolutely amazing place. A great place to escape the stresses of daily life to experience nature and peacefulness. The accommodations were clean and bright. Payment and logistics were easily set up through the owner.
Thanks for sharing.
