Overview

Cape Cod House Rental Photos and Description

House with central AC

Location and comfort are everything for a great vacation. Stay at this cool (central A/C) and comfortable home *within* the National Seashore in Wellfleet. Located on a private road off Ocean View drive which runs along the Atlantic Ocean. Our road leads to a private path (for residents and guests) to LeCount Hollow Beach (minutes away). No waiting in a hot car for a parking spot to open. Additionally, Cahoon Hollow Beach and Beachcomber is about a mile down Ocean View Drive (walkable, drive, bike or take the free shuttle).

As our previous guest reviews suggest, our beach house is in a wonderful location. Lecount Hollow (also referred to as McGuire's Landing) and the other National Seashore ocean beaches (Lecounts, White Crest, Cahoon Hollow and Newcomb Hollow) are the most beautiful beaches on Cape Cod and are all located off Oceanview Drive. Other location attractions include a nearby 27 mile bike trail, close access to the other ocean beaches, several fresh water kettle ponds and bayside beaches. We are also about a 5-10 minute drive to the town center and harbor. This great area has always attracted families and friends escaping the rigors of real life. Go home refreshed.

The house itself is one of only ~300 within the National Seashore Park. It sleeps 7. We have 2 queens and 2 twin beds. There are 2 bedrooms on the first floor (queen and full) and the twins are on the lower level. We also have a rollout for an overnight guest. There are 2 full bathrooms as well as an enclosed outside shower.

There is spacious living room and eat in kitchen. Note that we have upgraded in 2015 with new cabinets, lighting, bedroom furniture and other updates to make even more comfortable and attractive.

The shady, natural patio/yard is a unique feature of the house. It offers a quiet place to relax and have a cocktail or eat outside with family and friends. In the afternoon it is a shady oasis after a hot day at the beach.

At night, walk or drive to the Beachcomber Restaurant/Night Club which features nightly live bands and soloists from all musical genres (~1 mile down Ocean View Drive) or have a cocktail in their beachside bar 'apres beach'.

You never need to leave the area but, for the adventurous, there are many great restaurants, art galleries, golf, mini-golf, drive-in theatre, live theatre and other attractions in Wellfleet and the surrounding towns (P-Town, Truro or Orleans). Provincetown offers a vibrant downtown area which is a *must* visit about 20 minutes away. There is also a variety of night options in Provincetown.

Jog or bike along Ocean View Drive. Fish, swim or relax on the beach or on your patio steps from the Atlantic. Overall, get ready for an amazing, fun and exciting summer getaway with friends, family and the people of LeCount Hollow Beach and Wellfleet! You will not be disappointed.

Please note that towels and linens can be provided for a discounted fee via a partner located in Wellfleet. Will provide details upon request.

For an ocean view option check out VRBO 337579.

Great October and November off-season weeks (or nights) at excellent rates are also available.

*** Don't miss the Wellfleet Oysterfest the weekend following Columbus Day

About John Regan

Twenty year summer resident and homeowner in Wellfleet. This home is our first of three in the area. It is a very unique location and we love it more every year.

John Regan purchased this house in 1995

Why John Regan chose Cape Cod

We vacationed for many years on the outer cape. We bought this home because of its unique location. Walk to the beach is a must as the parking is at a premium on the outer cape beaches.

What makes this house unique

This home offers so much it is difficult to describe in short. The beach is the most scenic beach on the cape. The area contains something for everyone who loves the outdoors. This area brings a lot of families and young professionals seeking some relaxation and fun away from the stress of real life.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had no idea we'd be so close to the beach and have our own path to it. Love the location. And love running on the road to Calhoun Hollow and back.

Note from owner: path is at end of Wilson ave - private to residents.

Great stay at the beach!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time staying in this lovely home. Very well-appointed, with a new large kitchen and large sunny bedrooms. The AC is great and was a welcome respite from the heat on some days. John is great and was very responsive and helpful. He checked with us during the week via email to make sure the trip was was going well and to see if we had any questions. The description of the house and location was perfect - it was indeed a short walk to the beach. We so enjoyed Lacount Hollow Beach that we didn't bother to get a parking sticker for other beaches until the last three days when the kids wanted to relax in a fresh water pond - Gull Pond is a great respite from sand and waves, for later in the week.

I would highly recommend this beach house to anyone looking for a memorable beach vacation on Cape Cod!

Best week with family and friends!

  • 5 of 5

This house was just perfect for our Cape getaway. The location to the beach was an easy 3 minute walk, (though the dune down and especially up was a bit of a challenge, we were all fine with it). The beach itself is beautiful. just what you would expect from the National Seashore. The house was nicely decorated Cape style and the furniture was lovely, (not campy or tacky at all). The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Everyone had a very comfortable place to sleep. The kitchen was very workable and we are foodies who like to cook. The patio is cute and although close to the neighbors, felt private and reminded me of an English garden. We even had a hummingbird visit! The patio furniture was sturdy and comfy. We spent a lot of time cooking on the grill and just hanging out there. We loved the outdoor shower, (a "must have" whenever we go down the Cape).

The general location is where we like to stay. Being on the lower Cape is nice because it truly is away from it all. We enjoyed a day in P-Town and the short ride home. We also visited the Spice store (highly recommend!) and the Winery with it's lovely shop. We did dine out and all of the places we tried were excellent. 1st night we dined on Wellfleet harbor at Mac's and had a night cap at Pearl. We also tried Karoo (my sister and I have visited South Africa and were intrigued) and again, did not disappoint.

Overall, this was such a great house. Highly recommend to anyone, just not the week or two I will want it next year, haha.

359 Wilson Avenue, Wellfleet - Wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

We have been vacationing on the Cape for 30+ years - typically staying in Eastham - both ocean side and bay side. Now that the kids are grown, we decided to take a chance and rent in Wellfleet on the Oceanside. The pictures don't lie - this house is great with all the amenities you need for a week at the beach! We walked every day to Maguire's Landing - a Wellfleet town beach situated on the National Seashore - it gave us a chance to experience the local flavor first hand - surfers, dog walkers, fishing and the occasional seal that poked it's head up checking out the silly humans on the beach! Great spot - great house!

Wellfleet

  • 5 of 5

We had a beautiful week and wonderful accommodations! Having personal access to the beach was great in spite of a bit of a hike down to the beach. It made for a breath-taking view of the water in the early morning. Being able to take Molly dog for morning walks on the beach added to the comfort of the stay.

Our "home" for the week was clean, had a fully equipped kitchen and lacked in nothing except for our personal needs. The only thing we couldn't find was a cookie sheet but we made do. Everything else from corn holders to a lettuce spinner was available. One positive surprise was the fact the driveway had room for at least three cars-no need to park on the street.

The owner couldn't have been more personable and accommodating. He left a packet answering any question we could possibly think of concerning where to eat, shop, get bikes, hike etc. Our daughter, who rents on Martha's Vineyard every summer, was especially impressed by the level of detail and said he really knew and loved the area!

Lecount Hollow would be a place we would love to rent again and would definitely recommend to friends. Its only lacking is that it is not big enough for our whole family. For us, it was a positively wonderful place to stay.

Great property in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Perfect house for a getaway. Near the beginning of the Cape Cod rails trail, and can rent bikes at that location, less than 1 mile from the house. Walk to a great beach in just a few minutes. Wonderful restaurants nearby.

The house is in very good condition equipt with everything you would need. On a quiet street, and the owner is very responsive to any questions or concerns you might have. We had a great experience.

Great House- Close to the Beach

  • 5 of 5

I recently rented the property and I could not be happier with my experience. The house was clean, well cared for, and walking distance to the beach. The owner was responsive to all my questions and gave clear instructions on what to bring. The description of the house was accurate but didn't do justice to just how absolutely charming it is. I would book again in a minute! Wellfleet is a great town, you will definitely need a car to get around the Cape but it was only a 20 minute drive to Provincetown, a 10 minute drive into town and 1 mile away from the Beachcomber restaurant, which is always a great time, and in the opposite direction only about a mile away from PB Boulangerie which was totally worth the line (all the bread was amazing).

In Wellfleet we went to the Pearl, the Bookstore restaurant and the Wellfleet grocer.

The only thing I would have done differently considering we rented on Memorial Day Weekend is that I would have grocery shopped prior to getting to the Cape. Also, if you have allergies remember to bring your allergy meds because all the flowers were blooming. They smell amazing but beware the pollen.

In summation: loved it; would go again in a heartbeat.
