My name is Suzanne, and I am a Sign Language Interpreter, Massage Therapist, adventurer, traveler, and people lover. I run two vacation rentals, one on Vashon Island (ask me about it!), and one here in the heart of Seattle. I am originally from New York, but was drawn to the beauty of the Northwest, with its mountains, water, and wilderness. I hope to share a piece of all that I love here with travelers from far and near. Looking forward to meeting you!
Suzanne purchased this apartment in 2011
I chose this apartment to be my 'pied a terre', or city home because I live on Vashon, but work in Seattle, so I wanted to have a place I could stay and live during the work week. The location for this condo was ideal, being next to downtown, near Capitol Hill, theaters restaurants, and the Convention Center.
I love being so near to the heart of the city, especially if I've been in my rural Vashon home for a stretch. I like being able to walk everywhere; go to movies, out to eat, shopping, etc, and never get in a car. I love the view from my perch, especially that I can look down and see trees and greenery planted on the convention center, as well as buildings of the city scape in the further distance, and the peek of Lake Union from the master bedroom. What a treat!
I was looking for an apartment for 5 of us and the most important things were location and price. The Nest is absolutely perfect for what we needed. You really can't get a better deal than this in this type of location. We were 10 minutes (max) walkign distance from Pike Place Market, and right in the heart of the downtown shopping scene. There was even a secure garage that we could use which is brilliant in this part of town. The apartment itself was also great, with plenty of space and super clean. The owner even had a welcome basket waiting for us complete with some wine and seattle treats.
My teenage daughters and I had a great time! The Nest is walking distance to everything. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. Also the little gift basket was an added bonus. Will stay here again when we come back to Seattle.
We recently spent 4 days in Seattle prior to a cruise to Alaska. Our vacation home was the Nest, located in midtown. our host, Suzanne was lovely. We arrived at 11:00 and needed a place to store our luggage until check in. Suzanne was very gracious and told us to bring our things to the apartment, which allowed us a head start to touring the city. When we actually got to the apartment there was a wonderful surprise of a gift basket with goodies and a bottle of wine. What a nice gesture. The apartment is clean, very cozy and you feel like you are visiting family. It felt just like home. My only negative is that there are no screens on the windows. Since there is no central air conditioning, we opened the windows but were concerned that something might fall out.(That's the reason for the 4 stars.) Otherwise, we really enjoyed being able to relax after long days of seeing the city. Thanks, Suzanne.
My sister and I stayed at The Nest for three nights on a getaway girls' weekend. The apartment is just a few blocks away from several wonderful restaurants, and since downtown Seattle is very walkable, we walked from one sight to another, and from shop to shop! Suzanne was incredibly responsive when we couldn't find the wifi code, and her apartment had everything we needed, although I must admit that we didn't really cook. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the view out the living room window each evening after we went out to dinner. Would definitely stay at The Nest again.
This apartment is a gem in the middle of the beautiful city of Seattle. Minutes from everything, and a relaxing place to return to after a busy day. I was in Seattle due to my need to be near Swedish Medical Center for my daughter, and to also be able to work as needed. Suzanne keeps her apartment cozy and clean, and is in a safe complex with a managed entrance that made me feel safe and secure as I tucked in after my long days at the hospital. It is also near a few grocery stores, so that fixing meals and having your own coffee each morning is incredibly easy; or if you want to go out for dinner you have many options literally minutes from your doorstep. Definitely an apartment that can fit all tastes and needs for those visiting Seattle. Getting to the waterfront, Seattle attractions and shopping is easy either by car or a short walk down the street and the apartment is stocked with maps and suggestions of things to do and places to go. I will definitely book this apartment again on my next visit to Seattle!
The instructions are easy to follow regarding how to get there, and get the keys. There is a little bit of a steep walk for around 20 meters or so at the back of the building entrance, but the building can also be entered from the main road quite easily. The apartment itself is absolutely lovely - filled with sunlight and facing the Convention Center which itself is covered in greenery. There is a set of stairs that lead from the Convention Center that goes directly to the road in front of the apartment building which is very convenient.
The apartment has excellent internet and wifi, and is well stocked, you just need fresh milk and bread, and there is a convenience store a few minutes walk from the building. Downtown to Pike Place is a short walk of around 15 minutes. The Westlake Station where the rail goes direct to Sea-Tac airport is a short walk of around 10 minutes.
Buses go from within 5 minutes to the University or the Botanical Gardens which is about a 25 minute journey. The main shopping district is a 10 minute walk. There are plenty of places nearby to eat out and vary between fish/sushi, vegetarian, or standard eg Cheesecake Factory. Plenty of coffee shops too as expected.
The owner could not be more helpful or attentive, and was available to answer any questions within the hour. The apartment can sleep a couple and two more quite comfortably and is very conveniently located for the centre of Seattle and the Convention Center being both easy to reach and central in order to travel to other parts. I didn't have a car so I cant say about the parking but there is a garage that residents can use.
I am quite a fussy traveler but I can't recommend this apartment highly enough for being a home from home.
I enjoyed my stay there very much.
