My wife and I are both teachers of children with special needs and have been working the special education field for over 12 years. We love what we do, but we also love to travel all over the world and spend time in our former residence/ now vacation home in Lake Arrowhead. We have three beautiful boys, all of whom are growing up so fast! They love spending time in the mountains, and we love spending time with them, as they bring all the joys of childhood back to life for us!
David Woerz purchased this cabin in 2003
We chose Lake Arrowhead as the location of our home, as the area has always held a special place in our hearts. My wife’s family owned a small cabin near Blue Jay for many years. Her father had always dreamt of retiring in the area, for the clean air and the slow-paced mountain lifestyle. Although his early passing didn’t allow his dream to be fulfilled, we now are able to fulfill that dream for him, as our home provides a real mountain experience and memories for our children, family and friends.
Some of our family’s favorite things to do while at our mountain home are relaxing on the deck and taking in the view, entertaining friends, playing games, having “movie nights” with homemade popcorn, walking to nearby Grass Valley Lake to picnic, play and feed the ducks, and going to Lake Arrowhead for the special events, like the summer concerts, 4th of July Fireworks show and the Oktoberfest concerts and events, Ja Wohl!
A group of friends and I stayed at the Himmel Haus for a New Years trip and had an incredible time. We arrived on a Friday night were happy to be able to get the keys and "check in" easily. The home and outdoor areas were clean and well maintained.
Even with 12 people, we were never too cramped or needing more space, everyone had a comfortable place to sleep. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed for our stay, we made all our meals for 3 days there. The front deck and large windows offered beautiful views throughout the day.
The driveway was more intense than we expected, especially with ice, but David was very helpful with advice and even shoveled the driveway on the mornings it snowed. The cabin was easy to get to and centrally located in Lake arrowhead. It was a short drive to get into town, to get anything we needed. We also had a nice afternoon in Lake arrowhead village which was about a 10 minute drive, probably shorter when it's not snowing.
Overall the house was lovely and I cannot wait to stay there again.
Overall a very enjoyable stay, the house was clean and exactly the type of environment we were looking for in regards to a cabin trip. The cabin included plenty of beds and other amenities. The only issue was parking multiple cars up a steep slope can be tricky if the drivers aren't comfortable with incline driving. Towards the end of the stay we just parked on the street rather than driving up the hill.
We spent the weekend at the Himmel Haus (three families with young kids) and had a great time. The house was larger than I expected, based on the photos and reviews, and it was really clean and well-kept. I could tell that the owner takes pride in the place. We really liked that the backyard was fenced in (so our kids could run around) and the price was very reasonable for such a cozy mountain retreat. The owner (David) was extremely responsive and was quick to reply via email or text before and during our stay. We also loved the late check-out, which gave us a relaxing final day in Lake Arrowhead.
I had a very pleasant stay at the Himmel Haus with my family over the Christmas weekend. The house is large enough to comfortably fit our 8 adults, plus our toddler, but has enough more than character to make it feel cozy (especially on cold winter nights). We loved the house's Swiss/European charm. The owners have done an excellent job stocking the cabin with everything we needed... towels, linens, cookware, games, DVDs, extra chairs for the dining table, and even equipment for our toddler. The check-in and check-out process was also very simple. Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your haus for the holidays!
The property was fantastic for our family. Plenty to do in the area for us all. We really enjoyed our stay and the house.
Himmel Haus was comfortable and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed to make a big family style breakfast. The view from the dining table was pretty and we sat at the dining table to do make up before the wedding, the lighting was the best in front of the windows. The lounge was comfortable and the downstairs TV room was perfect for my dad who likes to fall asleep watching movies. The upstairs "kids" room had enough room for 6 to sleep comfortable, though only two teenagers slept in that room. The three year old had fun playing with the fuse ball table. We took the master suite with the queen bed and I slept like a baby. The Cabin says it sleep 10, but you could fit 13 still really comfortably. The bathrooms are a little snug, and the downstairs shower was a little tricky to get the water temperature just right, but the upstairs shower was fine and the water pressure was fine. It was nice to do a load of laundry before checking out. Overall it was like being at home and that's what I liked the best.
