Come and enjoy the peace and tranquility of our home. We are just steps away from a well known hiking trail. Whether you gaze at the stars at night from our hot tub on the patio or just sit there and enjoy a glass of wine after a long day hiking or viisting our nations Capitol you will appreciate the solitude and privacy of our property. In the morning sit out on the patio and watch the hummingbirds (in season) flying all around where you sit as they eat their nectar from their feeders.

Spend the day in Washington DC and enjoy the Smithsonian, Art and History Museum, Air and Space Museum, monuments, White House, The Capitol, Washington Zoo or The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts all this is about one and a half hours from the house. Or maybe chose to do something closer like visiting some wineries, visit Luray Caverns, horseback riding, fishing, biking, tennis, visit many art galleries, point to point races, or polo. There is always something to do or just relax and enjoy the wildlife (deer and wild turkey) on the property.

My husband Bob was born in Serbia and moved to Canada as a young adult , that is where he met me (Lee) and we married. We moved to the USA 28 years ago and lived in Annapolis, MD.
The Owner purchased this house in 1996
We have very dear friends that live here in Little Washington and we would visit and stay with them on weekends. We fell in love with the area and decided to buy a weekend home, We bought the weekend home and the rest is history we decided to sell our Annapolis home and made this our home.
You will feel at home when you are here. It is very relaxing. The area is very quiet and peaceful.
Gorgeous home in perfect proximity to hiking the Little Devil's Stairs, far enough from civilization to be remote without feeling cut off. The hosts were very accommodating (and pet friendly), leaving us a lovely bottle of wine in the fridge and allowing a late check in. The owners were unable to meet us for check in, but their daughter made sure we were settled.
Fabulous spot for a hike up Little Devils Staircase and relaxing in the hot tub when we returned. Hosts very accommodating for a late arrival.
This is my second trip to this property and loved it both times. We have three dogs that are tired of our tiny house and little back yard so all the open range they get here is great. I love the outdoors especially hiking so all the trails right outside the front door are a huge plus. Recommend it for anyone looking to get away form the everyday hustle and bustle of city life and can use some stress relief. So calm and beautiful at a wonderful price.
Visited with friends Labor Day weekend 2015. Quarter mile from Little Devil Stairs and Keyser Run fire road, both of which can get you to a range of great, steep, and wild trails in eastern Shenandoah NP. Kitchen is well stocked with utensils and dishes, enough showers for the adults to clean up, and the hot tub is great. Will look to book here again!
My husband and I visited with our two dogs. The owner Lee took great care to ensure we had everything we needed to be comfortable for our vacation even leaving coffee, fresh eggs, wine and chocolates for us.
The house is very clean and spacious with a really nice master bathroom. Towels, sheets etc. were all provided and of a high quality and spotless. There is also a large collection of DVDs, several large TVs, comfy chairs for reading and a hot tub where you can star gaze and relax your muscles after a hike. This is definitely the rental if you want to get away from it all and relax. Also if you like wildlife, this is the rental for you! So many butterflies, humming birds, deer, all kinds of birds, rabbits and the local cows. We stayed for a week so we went out nightly to different restaurants in the area. We enjoyed several excellent meals. There are also many wineries nearby if you are into wine.
For us, the highlight was that this rental is perfect for dogs as we have two medium sized dogs. There is a large tiled utility room for dog food and water and even a dog door. Our dogs usually don't settle well in new places but after 1 night at the cabin, they were happy and relaxed. It helps that there is a great (and challenging) hiking trail nearby and an alternative fire road which is a bit less steep to tire them out. But the dogs really enjoyed the large grassy yard and the freedom to safely run around.
I would definitely recommend this rental and plan to return myself later in fall.
This is a perfect place to stay if you are looking for a backwoods country "get away from the city" experience. The house is in great condition and I have yet to come across a more fully stocked kitchen. Our hosts were fabulous and did not complain when we got locked out and had to knock on their door at 11 pm at night. There is a new hot tub, which was perfect after a long hike on a trail right outside the door. The nearest grocery store is 30 miles out, but we didn't mind the drive into town to pick up supplies. We found the Griffin Tavern in Little Washington to be fabulous! I am not a big fan of Virginia wine, but there is plenty of great beer to be found and the people in the area are so nice. It was about an 80 minute drive to DC. Highly recommend this spot!
Visit Luray Caverns, Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park, Visit Numerous Wineries, Hiking, Fishing, Nearby Horseback Riding, Fine Dining, Visit to Air and Space Museum, Smithsonian, Art and History Museum, Capital and White House, Art Galleries and National Zoo and Theatre, and other numerous attractions. Washington DC is about one and a half hour drive from Bear Creek Farm.
