Beautiful one bedroom lakefront cottage with lake access in historic Alburgh, Vermont. This one bedroom cottage can accommodate two adults, the cottage is complete with a queen bed and full bathroom. After you've enjoyed the beautiful sunset from your own deck you can relax in the living room on one of two comfortable sofas. Guests will have access to shared yard, dock and beach. Should you need anything rest assured your needs will be met as the property owners live on site.
We moved to Alburgh in 2001 to live on the lake and be able to enjoy it year -round.
Tom McHugh purchased this cottage in 2001
When we purchased, there was another smaller cottage on the property, but it needed a lot of work. We replaced it in 2012 with the new expanded cottage.
it has only been available for use by family and friends until recently.
My girlfriend and I stayed here for Columbus Day weekend as a getaway from city life, and we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The house looked newly renovated, was neat, clean, and was decorated in a relaxing spend-a-day-at-the-beach theme. We visited during early fall, so it was a bit too chilly to enjoy the water, but we appreciated being able to stroll out onto the dock and beach, just feet from the cottage porch.
The kitchen was fully stocked and the appliances were all new or like-new. The bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom was well maintained. It was very private, but Tom and Kathy were very attentive to our needs, even though they were stuck in their own travels by inclement weather (read: hurricane!). They even left us a gift bottle of pure maple syrup, which was an absolutely delicious and welcome surprise!
Another big plus is that it's minutes (literally) from the Canadian border, so we were able to take a quick jaunt into Montreal for the afternoon. We also visited Plattsburgh, NY which was a short drive over the bridge. The Lake Champlain Islands region in general was just beautiful.
There were a few minor drawbacks, however. The wifi was a little spotty, so we couldn't stream any media on our devices. Also, since we were there in October, the cottage got a little cold. It did not get cold enough to need the space heaters that were available, but an extra layer is probably advisable, depending on the season.
Overall, Tom and Kathy's cottage was a perfect venue for a near perfect Fall weekend. It is cozy and comfortable, a great place for some much needed R&R.
Lovely, spacious, immaculate cottage with nice deck. Unfortunately, no TV and Wi-Fi was very slow and often cut out.
My Husband and I stayed for three Nights in this cozy cottage in August. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need including coffee tea and cream. Beautiful view of the Lake from the deck. The owners were friendly and helpful. If we visit lake Champlain area again we will definitely be back. Thank you!
We stayed for a week in July at this location. The vacation cottage was clean, pleasant, and the accommodations were good. The views over the lake were excellent with beautiful sunsets. The hosts were very helpful and we would recommend the unit as a summer vacation spot.
It was a lovely location and such a beautiful view. Its not a private setting so if your looking for privacy this place will not work for you but other than that it was clean and beautiful and the owners were exceptionally helpful. Overall it was a great stay!
