About Nancy or Victor
We are an active working couple who moved into what was our Traverse City cottage 9 years ago. That is when we built the carriage house with the apartment above so there would be room for our children to come visit. We have a rescue dog on site- Scrappy, our 7 yr old Australian Shepherd mutt. We are avid golfers, love wine ,art and music- which is why we found this to be an area perfect for us. It's amazing how many people we have met since living here who are so much like ourselves. We are husband and wife home builder/remodelers- Grand Bay Building and Remodeling. We moved our business Up North from the Pinckney Chain of Lakes Area of Livingston County. We wanted to be somewhere our children and future grandchildren would loved to come and visit. Traverse City and Leelanau County have far surpassed our expectations. We absolutely love the activity and social aspects of the area. If you are looking for things to do and see- we can be very helpful. We totally understand couples who are looking to move to the area. That's why we love the business that we're in- we can make the dream happen for others like we did for ourselves!
Nancy or Victor purchased this Apartment in 1999
Why Nancy or Victor chose Traverse City
We used to come up north with our oldest son's travel soccer team for tournaments. Over a five year span, the entire family looked forward to our week here in August. We decided to look for a cottage that we could eventually move to when all of the kids were out of high school. We checked out the entire area over the years- we knew that we needed parking- so some of those small lots right on a road were not for us. We also knew we would be working and needed to be close to town for meetings, supplies etc. Being just north of Traverse City allows us to miss the summer traffic from festivals and hotels on a daily basis. We are within 10 minutes of the action when we want it and we can enjoy wonderful Leelanau County every day. Our place is located down at the water on a 1 acre site. M-22 is a wonderful access road to everything but we have lots of privacy and parking- exactly what fit our needs. This area offers much in the way of entertainment.- The Dennos Museum always offers a wonderful exhibit and music performances in the Milliken Auditorium. There are many art galleries to showcase the talent here in Northern Michigan. Two small theatres: The State Theater downton Traverse City and The Bay in Suttons Bay are restored wonderful old theaters featuring great movies. Interlochen for the Performing Arts is a venue for wonderful music performances. Traverse City has The Old Town Playhouse for community theater. The list goes on- as members of the 2 local Chamber of Commerces we have a really good source of knowledge for what's happening.
What makes this Apartment unique
Vic and our dog fish the Bay for salmon and lake trout so our boat is set with downriggers. We can boat to dinner from our dock-north to Knot Just a Bar in Omena Point or downtown Suttons Bay or south to Harbor 22. This is why we love West Bay- there are great places to travel to by boat . Sometimes we'll take a bottle of wine out on the boat to the island and watch the sun set and the moon rise. During Cherry Fest, we motor down by West End Beach and listen to music from the Cherry Festival Stage. We can anchor by the Holiday Inn on Friday nights and relax to music. Nothing beats watching the Air Show and fireworks from the water. Being located between Suttons Bay and TC has been perfect for us. Both have wonderful downtowns and restaurants. Festivals are a huge thing in this area and we're located close to all of them. We are near the trails for biking, hiking and cross country skiing. We happen to love our closest golf course- The Leelanau Club. As avid golfers, the problem is finding the time to enjoy all of the courses. The best thing about this place- you can hear the nosies of the bay- water lapping or waves crashing, seagulls & ducks, wooshing as swans lift off. The bay calms you down and brings you back to nature. Lately we've had herons spending lots of time in the beach grasses or our artesian well. We think it's a wonderful place and would really miss it.

Love this place and want to come back!!!
The property was super easy to find. We loved the location on the lake just a bit out of town for the peace and quite but also loved how we were just a few min drive from a lot of fun things to do as a family. The property was so pretty inside and out and very clean. Stocked with pretty much anything you would need. My son loved the lake and getting to go out on the doc. At night we were able to all be in the living room and watch a movie to end our nights which was great family time. I enjoyed this stay much more than I would have in a hotel. Nancy and Victor were super nice and even let my son meet their dog and play a bit (our almost 10 year old son loved that).
We went to the light house which was just about 30 min north. We also hit downtown Front street for food and a little shopping just about a 10-15 min drive. The best was hitting Empire Beach. It was about a 45 min drive but so worth it.
So happy that you enjoyed your stay. You're welcome back anytime:)
Beautiful, quiet, tranquil, perfect
Best place to stay, perfect location loved it!
Cozy carriage house on Grand Traverse Bay!
Enjoyed our stay--close to Traverse City and Suttons Bay but a quiet location out of the busy-ness. Just perfect for the 2 of us😉
Clean, cozy, and restful!
My sons and I stayed at the "Restful Nest" over the Thanksgiving weekend, and found this adorable loft even better than advertised! It was very clean and neat, and nicely stocked. Being that it was a holiday weekend we didn't want to intrude on the owners, but they certainly had everything ready for us. We had an added bonus of catching 2 beautiful sunrises over the water, and watching the neighbors goats! ! Loved it! We hope to return in the summer!
Thanks for the great review- so happy you enjoyed your stay- Come back anytime!! thank you for your note and gift of truffles- much appreciated. Nancy L
Absolutely wonderful place! Can't wait to go back!!
Nice cozy apartment !
My husband and I stayed here for our annual anniversary weekend trip "up north". The apartment was super clean and had everything we needed for a nice quiet weekend stay. The owners were very nice, especially since my husband accidentally backed into their motor home. They could have been angry, but instead took it in stride. We so appreciate people that understand things like that. We would definitely stay here again (If they'd have us) :)
The Leelanau Peninsula has more than 30 wineries and Mission Peninsula offers about 25. This area is definitely known for the quality of the grapes producing award winning wines. Micro breweries have also blossomed- for the beer lovers. Not to miss is a day trip around Leelanau County following M-22 (which we are located on) thru Suttons Bay - north to Northport and around the peninsula to the Sleeping Bear National Park. All along the shore are wonderful beaches and hiking trails- make sure to visit historical Fishtown located in Leland. Make a stop in Glen Arbor as you're getting closer to Empire. These small Michigan towns each have a unique feel to them which offers a real Northern Michigan experience. Another day trip is to take M22 south toward Traverse City and follow US31 north - stop at Elk Rapids, continue north to Charlevoix and lastly to Petoskey. If you continue past Petoskey on US31 north you're heading to the Mackinac Bridge which is site to see and to drive over to the Upper Peninsula . A full day trip from our place is to head directly to Mackinac City - take the ferry over to Mackinac Island. A step back in time with no cars- only walking, bikes and horse drawn carriages for transportation. Rent a bike and travel around the island for a beautiful site seeing trip. Dress up and visit the Grand Hotel for a real treat. Once you're here we are very happy to answer questions and give you other ideas of things to do. During the summer it seems that every weekend another town has a festival going- much art, music and wine tasting!!
