With the open floor plan, the living room, kitchen and dinning rooms all offer great views of the lake through the wide sliding glass doors. These doors lead out to the large upper deck that stretches across the back of the house with a fantastic view of the lake. There is a spiral staircase that leads from this deck down to the large deck below where there is a charcoal BBQ grill, chimanea, table and chair set and plenty of extra seating & occasional tables. Off this deck there is a small covered area as well. Plenty of shade trees. This area is fenced. Through the gate, you can walk down to the water.

The living room has a leather sofa/sleeper & flat screen TV & gas fireplace.

The kitchen has everything you need to prepare a meal, you just bring food and refreshments. There is a refrigerator, Jenn-Aire cook top, oven, dishwasher, large pantry, pots & pans, bake ware, glassware, including stemware & cups, dishes, cooking and BBQ utensils, flatware etc. There is also a microwave oven, toaster, coffee pot and blender. On one side of the home is a large master bedroom with a Texas style pine queen bed and side tables, futon that can sleep one adult or two children. View of lake. French doors lead out onto upper deck. Huge private master bath has jetted garden tub, walk in shower, large vanity with twin sinks. Large walk in closet stores extra linens.

On the other side of the home is the guest room with queen bed and side table, this room is decorated in seaside decor with a great lake view as well. The guest bathroom is accessible from the guest room and through the kitchen. Guest bath has a walk in shower. The washer, dryer and cabinet with extra linens are also located in this room. We provide small amounts shower gel, shampoo, conditioner. There is a blow dryer in each bathroom.

This home has a covered carport large enough for two vehicles and a small circle drive.

About Sandra Welch

My husband and I have been married for 37 years. We have one son and daughter-in-law and a very active 7 yr. old grandson. We enjoy boating on Lake Whitney with our family & friends every chance we get.

Sandra Welch purchased this house in 2008

Why Sandra Welch chose Texas

We live just a few blocks away and it is perfect for when we entertain family and friends. Everyone has a nice comfortable place to stay when we have a full house.

This home has a great view and since most all the homes sit on a bluff, as does this one, not many home is accessible to the lake.

We have been coming to Lake Whitney and Laguna Park in particular since the mid 1970's. My husband use to ride motocross in Whitney and we enjoyed staying at the state park and lodges in the area. After we married and had our son we enjoyed coming here to fish and go boating. We purchased a cabin became "weekenders" for awhile. We finally had an opportunity to move here full time in 2003. We love the scenic beauty of the area. The lake is clear and clean. It's a great lake for water sports and fishing. The lifestyle is relaxed and friendly. it's close to Whitney, Hillsboro, Waco, Clifton and Meridian. And just a little over an hour to Dallas and Ft. Worth.

What makes this house unique

Lakeside Cottage is a cozy home in a quiet neighborhood. It backs up to Lake Whitney and is shady, private and peaceful. Gorgeous lake view's from most every room. You'll want to spend your time on the upper or lower deck watching the boats pass by. You can walk from the back yard down to the lake for a swim or great fishing. Watching the birds, squirrels, fox & raccoons is great entertainment. The night sky is wonderful for star gazing. It's close to nearby boat ramps and Uncle Gus Marina.

We now offer 4 and 8 hour pontoon boat rental to our guests which includes gas. Call or e-mail for details and to check availability.

We enjoyed sitting on the back patio in the evenings. Hearing the water in the background and the crickets chirping was awesome. We also got a light show from the lightning bugs! It has been years since I have seen one! The property is clean and comfortable. We will be back!

peaceful rest from the city

  • 5 of 5

I needed some time away from phones, internet and I got it. Had a friend come out to stay and we watched the squirrels on the back porch. There was a road runner every morning looking for breakfast in the backyard. Very comfortable place, we will be back soon.

Real Charm at a Real Value!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have stayed at several lake houses on several Texas lakes, and this one was a very pleasant find. This was our first time on Lake Whitney and the views from this property were just stunning! On the first morning, I made sure to grab my cup of coffee and head to the bluff overlooking the lake and enjoy my very own sunrise while listening to the birds singing and the water lapping upon the rocks. It was truly a Rockwell moment. After my wife woke, we got ready in a good sized master bathroom with double sinks and a separate tub and shower. My wife took a few moments while I was getting ready, and enjoyed a cup of coffee on the upper covered deck with access from double doors off the master bedroom as well.

After taking our time, we jumped in our jeep and headed into Clifton TX., which was a very pleasant drive taking just under 20 minutes to get there. The town was one of the many pure Texas historical small towns of about 3000 people, and we enjoyed an awesome county breakfast at Johnny's Place. We learned about the town and the restaurant from an informative notebook on a side table in the Lake House, filled with information on the surrounding area for those who may not be familiar with it. (Like Us) For a small town diner, we were surprised to find it packed, but after experiencing the hospitality and the incredible Texas county cooking, we figured out why! We even went back for breakfast the next morning! There was also a very nice Brookshire Brothers just up the street were we were able to get the items we needed to enjoy some of our own home cooking at the lake house.

A few notes about the lake house itself, access to the lake is via a steep stone walkway with a metal handrail to get you to the rock entrance to the water itself. Children and those who have mobility issues will need to be careful. As the lake house is heavily wooded around it (great for privacy), you can expect our favorite Texas tiny critters to be part of the welcoming committee. Make sure you bring some insect repellent or grab some at the Brookshire Brothers if you take my advice and visit Clifton while you are there. This is by no means a deterrent, as anyone who has stayed on a lake would be well aware of this.

Another huge benefit of leasing this Lake House, is the fact that the owner also owns 2 very nice Pontoon Boats that are available at very reasonable prices.

We will definitely be returning to the Lakeside Cottage

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review and I appreciate your choosing our home for your getaway. A lot of our guests do love the two patio areas, one being an upper deck off the master bedroom and living room and the one below to cook out and enjoy the chimnea, both have great views of the lake. I'm glad you did get to go down to the waters edge and enjoy the view there as well. Clifton is a cute town with shops, an old movie theater and yes Johnny's for breakfast. Next time you visit try and go to Mitchell's Grill one night for dinner. They have wonder steak and salmon but anything on their menu is fantastic.

SPECTACULAR!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this beautiful property for an entire week and had a SPECTACULAR time! Super clean, very private and secluded, with beautiful view and access to the lake. Our 14 year old son enjoyed fishing at the lake. The owner of the property, Peggy, was very helpful in providing suggestions for local eating places. The house it's very roomy. We especially enjoyed the back patio area with the views. Highly recommend it for anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet place just to get away.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed home and your son enjoyed fishing. Lake Whitney is a wonderful lake and does not as crowded as a lot of the lakes are. During the time you stayed the lake level was still way above normal. Lake levels are back to normal now. Fortunately, the lake and the homes can be enjoyed with higher and lower than normal lake levels. Thank you for your review and hope you get to visit again soon.
