Our sunny cottage home with newly renovated features is in the best location of trendy Culver City. It is surrounded by beautiful landscaping on a quiet cul-de-sac street 2 blocks from Sony Studios.
Culver City has over the past few years seen a massive revival and now become one of the hippest and safest places to live in west Los Angeles.
Its convenience to LAX, local beaches, and business districts of Century City and to UCLA make it an ideal location for both business and pleasure. Hollywood is 30 minutes away and Disneyland is under an hour away.
Our home is just 2 blocks from Sony Studios and Jackson Market & Deli (a local secret place to eat). Downtown Culver City's trendy restaurants and bars as well as major retail stores, supermarkets and movie theaters, including a Trader Joe's is just a 15 minute walk way.
The cottage is on a very family friendly and safe street which hosts an annual block party each summer. It has a small town cozy feeling with all the amenities a large urban city has to offer.
This cottage triplex was originally built in the 1920’s as movie studio housing to accommodate the vibrant and growing moving picture industry here. Hundreds of movies have been produced on the lots of Culver City's studios: Sony Pictures Studios (originally MGM Studios), Culver Studios, and the former Hal Roach Studios. These include The Wizard of Oz, The Thin Man, Gone with the Wind, Rebecca, the Tarzan series, and the original King Kong.
The house itself has High Speed WiFi internet, cable TV and ample street parking.
I pride myself on a high standard of comfort and cleanliness and the bed is luxury hotel quality with a hypoallergenic mattress made with fresh, high quality linens for a good nights sleep. There is a dresser and closet for storage.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes and glassware. There's also a drip coffee maker, tea kettle, microwave, stove, toaster, oven and full-size refrigerator.
The bathroom was just renovated with high-end retro fixtures that are modern and fitting with the home's original feel. You'll find towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hair dryer. There are 2 fans, an ironing board and iron in the closet.
There is a shared washer/dryer with laundry soap.
The cottage home was set up to provide an alternative to a typical hotel stay and to help our guests experience life a little more like a local rather than a tourist. We strive to offer an experience of a home away from home retreat that is relaxing and comfortable. We look forward to your visit!
Hi! I have lived in Culver City my entire life, and love to host new visitors to our charming town in a big city. I am down to earth and love the outdoors. I especially like hiking, yoga and biking along the beach (yes, we have great hiking spots in Los Angeles!). I am a single mom and took my son on his first overseas trip at the age of 2! Now in middle school, he loves to travel as much as I do. We still live in Culver City and we'd be honored to host you as our guest in our Sunny Cottage Home!
Heidi purchased this apartment in 1997
My father purchased the Cottage Triplex in 1968. He was attracted to the charm of each of the 3 units and particularly the large, lush garden which is unique for a home in Los Angeles. Our family has enjoyed living in each of the different units at one time or another throughout the years. It truly is a special place on a unique street and we'd love to share it with you.
Culver City has recently become at hot spot in Los Angeles, and the Cottage is located in the best part of Culver City. Originally built in the 1920's as movie studio housing, the Cottage Triplex has a rich heritage connected to the beginning of "Hollywood's" Golden Age. Each unit is also surrounded by a large beautifully landscaped garden which is unusual for Culver City, especially Los Angeles. And everyone falls in love with the cool ocean breeze we are lucky to have on our side of the street. It generously cools the house creating a relaxing garden oasis in the middle of a creative, bustling vibrant city.
The cottage has a wonderful location, very well equipped, clean, very comfortable bed, and a perfect place to base your Southern California vacation. Parking is on the street. The location is very safe. No negatives. Heidi responds to any question very quickly.
Very quaint, cute place! Loved the the neighborhood and proximity to everything. The trees around this neighborhood are amazing! Would definitely come back and have already recommended it to others.
This is a charming cottage, spotlessly and lovingly maintained, on a cozy quiet street in Culver City. It is only 15 minutes walking distance to downtown Culver City with it's lively atmoshere and lots of restaurants, bars and cafe's. The friendly owner provided bicycles which we use to ride to Venice Beach, about a 40 minute bike ride from the cottage. The more populated tourist spots in L.A. are only about a half-hour drive by car. The only downside to recommending this wonderful accomodation is that it might be booked out next time we want to come again.
Our son moved to Culver City in May and we stayed here for a three day visit.
This one bedroom cottage is in a quiet residential area where it is easy to park a car. The cottage looks just like the photos. It is extremely clean and has everything you need.
The living room is comfortable and had a great flat screen high definition television with most of the channels. The kitchen had all you could ask for. The bedroom was great with a comfortable queen sized bed, dressers, end tables and a great ceiling fan.
The bathroom has a wonderful claw foot tub with a great shower.
Heidi was wonderful to deal with and we hope to stay here again.
My wife and I are thinking of moving from Los Angeles to Culver City, and rented Heidi's cottage for the long MLK weekend.
It was terrific. Comfortable bed, complete kitchen, functional bath, great HDTV/DVR (we did see half a playoff game), all a couple needs or wants for a short stay. And it had everything we needed, from bath accessories to kleenex in two rooms to extra bath tissue and paper towels to condiments.
And, it was clean as a whistle, as well as cute. Heidi was a fount of information, on both tourist issues (where to eat, shop, play) and real estate (best areas to look for houses). And just a cell phone away (though we didn't need to call, except at the end to say we're leaving).
The location is perfect. We walked to the corner store (a few blocks) and downtown for restaurants (The Wallace is the best of them we think), shopping and movies (an easy 20 minutes).
All told, a terrific place, properly managed, so we highly recommend it.
We had a fantastic time at Heidi's cute yellow cottage. Everything is renovated, clean and in a stellar condition. The street is calm yet close to everything you need in Culver. We used the bikes to go around the neighborhood. Very convenient. The communication with Heidi was smooth and easy. She even had an a/c unit installed to help with the heatwave we had! I highly recommend this place. Thanks a lot for everything Heidi!
