Check out our convenient, accessible, two bedroom cabin in Silver Gate, Montana. We’re open from about the 1st of June until the end of September. It’s located right on Soda Butte Creek, just one mile drive from Yellowstone Park’s NE entrance.
The cabin boasts a beautiful view of the mountains, a stream, and numerous wildlife from our deck. Frequent 4-legged visitors include bear, deer, moose, bison, fox and wolves. There are many opportunities for hiking, fishing, and photography excursions. Horseback trips and rafting can also be arranged with local guides.
The region is very rich in history (natural and human). You can experience it all within a short hike and/or drive. Silver Gate is a perfect place to base your exploration of Yellowstone Park, the Beartooth and Absaroka Wilderness areas, and the large number of mountain lakes and trails in Montana and Wyoming.
For those craving a more familiar touch of civilization, Silver Gate and nearby Cooke City provide many dining, shopping and entertainment venues.

Arlene and Bruce, and Gary and Terri share their love of Silver Gate. Our families, old and young, have spent many years enjoying the cabin as a get-away during the summers. Though a number of us live quite far away, we all look forward to spending time again in beautiful Silver Gate.
Bruce or Arlene Swimley purchased this house in 1970
It was passed on to us by our parents. When our father was young he spent several years living in the original cabin year round. It has been like a second home for our family.
The best thing about our home in the hills has been the ability to just get away from the demands of daily life and recharge our batteries. Many wonderful family memories have been stored up during our stays in Silver Gate over the years.
The Amphitheater Cabin is being updated this winter with all new flooring, newly renovated bathroom and tile shower, new heating system, new sofa bed, use of wood burning stove. Will be renovated and ready by June 1, 2017
The Amphitheater Cabin is being fully renovated this winter (2017): new flooring throughout the entire cabin, completely renovated bathroom with tiled floor and shower, new heating system, new sofa bed, (new living room furniture), new Bosch washer & dryer units, large newer refrigerator-freezer, and gas burning stove/oven. The cabin should be a very comfortable oasis set on a stream in the midst of the Rocky Mountains, one mile from the Northeast Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, and on one of America's most scenic highways, the Beartooth Highway (Hwy. 212).
I've been staying in and around Yellowstone every summer for about 20 years. Just guys fishing, so not too needy, but this was one of the worst cabins we've rented. Started off bad. No key available to get in at check in time. Some local folks helped us get in through a bedroom window. Wood burning stove that you are not allowed to use. Propane wall heater does not work. Every time you close the refrigerator door, the freezer door pops open. Cabin is in need of some major updates. Pull out couch has a very uncomfortable 3 inch foam pad that the frame comes through. Deck is rotting. VHS player with a bunch of old 80's movies. It is on Soda Butte Creek, but no fish in this area due to dogs and kids using it for swimming. Also, very close to Hotel right next door. It is very close to Yellowstone, so that was nice. Owners were good to talk to, but didn't really make it any better.
We had our two adults sons (shared the second bedroom) and me and my husband. We enjoyed privacy, a great deck and full campfire area with lots of wood provided. The cabin is well supplied and clean.
We were celebrating a family reunion and hosted two campfire evenings at our cabin. Everyone was envious. Lots of privacy and weather permitting, our cabin allowed all of us to spread out and enjoy ourselves.
We didn't fish but wish we would have. The cabin is right on the edge of Soda Butte Creek just like the ad states.
Be sure to rent ATVs from the Bear Claw Bakery in Cooke City and drive all the off road trails including the Bannock Trail (just behind our cabin) and Daisy Pass trail will lead you to high mountain lakes.
Lots of "smoring" going on at the campfire and we cooked over the fire every night.
Don't forget the bug spray.
We are already planning our next vacation at this cabin.
We so enjoyed the cabin! Our three children loved the bunk beds and we had a wonderful time fishing in the river outside the cabin. The cabin has everything you will need for your vacation. The washer/dryers was great for a family!! We even had a bear visitor on the porch one night. Got great video from inside! Thank you again!
One could not have asked for more. The house was great, clean and cozy. The stream and setting was perfect!!!!
We enjoyed the cabin very much. It was great being next to a creek and so close to Yellowstone. We were pleased that it was a fully furnished kitchen and very comfortable. The photos and descriptions were accurate. I would recommend this to a friend.
