My family has been coming to Ridgway for over 40 years! We love to get-away from our lives cities to be in the sunlight, air and incredible mountains of the area! Sometimes we come for family time, sometimes time with friends. We wish we could be there more often...but now we can share it.
The Owner purchased this house in 1960
Ridgway is a perfect location : private enough to keep it a little bit secret, but close to Telluride, Ouray, Durango, Montrose and the majestic San Juan Mountains. There is hiking, biking and skiing for all levels. There are public hotsprings for families and private springs for couples. Telluride offers a film festival, music festivals and some of the best skiing in the world! My grandfather found the house in the 1960's and we've loved the area ever since!
My Dad and I stayed at this lovely mountain home for the Telluride Bluegrass wknd. This was a treat! Very comfortable and quite. We loved the private backyard with nice patio for morning coffee. The space was super accommodating to all of our needs. We will be back again next summer. Nothing negative to say about this place, we loved it.
We liked everything about the house. It is clean, well-cared for walking distance to town. The patio and yard are very spacious and quiet. The beds are comfortable, as is the living room. The bathrooms have been fully renovated, like the rest of the house. It appears that everyone in town knows the house as "The Blue House". You can't go wrong staying here.
Property is clean, quiet and has plenty of space to store gear. The blu-ray player is an added plus. The property is extremely well maintained.
We loved our stay in your blue house. It was so charming and welcoming. The back porch and patio were very relaxing. It was the perfect place to relax after attending our family reunion. We would love to come back again some day.
I stayed here for one month during Aspen color season and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The house is a couple block walk (3 minutes) from restaurants and the supermarket. The house has been redone beautifully and is very comfortable -- everything one needs. The owner was very helpful and sent detailed information on the house prior to my arrival. The owner's local friend was delightful and available for any issues I might have had. (I had none.)
There is no live TV, but I was able to access all I needed via WiFi. Having a great washer and dryer was SO helpful. The kitchen set up is very good. There are 4 or 5 thermostats so that one can be comfortable in any room without overheating the place.
Ridgway is a great location -- easy to Ouray (10 min.), Montrose (30 min.), Telluride (45 min.), Silverton (1 hour). Grand Junction is a 1 hour, 40 minute drive. Fantastic Moab, UT is about 3 1/2 hours.
You've got to see the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, a 45 minute drive just past Montrose. The are hiking and mountain road drives everywhere.
The house was just what I wanted and hoped for. I would have no hesitation to stay there again. In fact, I will stay there again if I return to Ridgway.
We spent a week in this home over Independence Day 2012. We were impressed with the comfortable bedding, hardwood floors, free wifi, and well-stocked kitchen and bathrooms. We also enjoyed the back patio for a relaxing afternoon outside enjoying the Rocky Mountain summer weather. This three-bedroom home can comfortably host a large family and provides easy access to Telluride, Ouray, Ridgway State Park, many mountain hiking and 4WD trails, and the charming town of Ridgway itself. In town, we recommend the Colorado Boy Brewery for both fresh beer and gourmet pizza and the True Grit Cafe for a real Western dining experience. We would rent here again and recommend this property to others.
