12 years ago, I ventured to Homer, Alaska on a quest to explore the Last Frontier. I was young, eager and fresh out of college searching for a place to call home and plant my feet for awhile. Being a sun-loving surfer chick, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a place like Alaska could capture my attention for long, or steal my heart. It did. To my amazement, it wasn't just the breathtaking scenery and jaw-dropping views that Homer offered that kept me yearning for more - it was the combination of the remarkable natural beauty with its outstanding community. Having grown up in the suburbs of Pennsylvania, I had never experienced true community the way that I did upon arriving at the end of the road. Since that time, I have adapted my lifestyle in order to maintain a home-base here. As a result of this alternative lifestyle, I have been able to live out many dreams - one of which has been my passion for traveling. The long, dark winter months beckon me to throw some meager belongings into a backpack and hit the jet stream. My travels include destinations such as Africa, India, Colombia, Indonesia, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Panama and Mexico. And my list is still long. It is my own passion for traveling combined with my love for Homer, Alaska that made me decide to open up my home to other travelers. Besides my love for exploring foreign lands, I also love to garden, hike, cook, and spend time with my beloved dog, Rufus.

NamaStay is located in a spectacularly scenic area of Homer just 6 miles from downtown and the Homer Spit. The proximity to town puts you within 10 minutes of Homer's art galleries and great restaurants, as well as heading out on a fishing charter or kayak trip for the day. The residential neighborhood provides great opportunities for wildlife viewing while relaxing on the deck grilling up your fresh catch of the day. There's also great walking/hiking just out your doorstep.
The view is great and all of your recommendations were amazing. We hiked, fished for halibut and enjoyed the stores and places on the spit. The kids enjoyed Netflix and the parents enjoyed sitting on the deck. The rooms are amazing and very well furnished. We enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to others. Thank you so much for letting us stay here, it is a very nice place.
This is a small but genuinely nice place with some very special touches. Indoor plants, for instance; beautiful deck with a nice view. Not like a hotel; which for me is a plus. I will stay there again when I return to Homer.
We enjoyed Namastay for 2 nights in early Sept 2016. The house was lovely and comfortable, very clean and well-supplied, with fantastic views from the deck. The location was great with easy access to Homer, the Spit and Kachemak Bay. The owner Jaime was very responsive and helpful for questions and suggestions. We were able to enjoy kayaking and hiking in the Bay, some great shopping and outstanding seafood in the short time we spent there. Our only regret was not having more time in this special place. We would be very happy to stay here again.
This well maintained home is in a residential community on outskirts of Homer. Even though there were close neighbors, it was always quiet with a sense of privacy. The view and a spacious, comfortable and reasonably priced home made the 10 minute drive from the Spit and grocery store worthwhile. The sofa and other seating was extremely comfortable. The large kitchen was very well equipped and had everything we needed. The homeowner was very responsive and caring when we called. Stairs to second floor bedrooms are very steep and narrow and there is a large step down into part of living room and another step up into master bedroom and bathroom on second floor.
After spending hours looking at vacation rentals and hotels, we decided on Namastay. Boy, did that homework pay off! This home will be the reason you fall in love with Homer! Never, in our many many rentals, have we embraced such spectacular mountain and ocean views! Comfortable furniture and beds, well equipped kitchen, and beautiful decor make this home a place you will not want to leave! Thank you, Jaime!
The home is very comfortable and inviting. I will use this property again and recommend it to all.
