Built in the 1940's this Folly Beach bungalow boasts legendary Folly Charm while offering all the modern amenities our guests need to enjoy their visit. The owner/designer of this space wanted to offer a retreat for her guests to relax, unwind and find their inner peace and serenity. Soothing decor and artistic personal touches create an atmosphere that beckons you to slow down and enjoy a simpler way of life.

Guest are welcomed with two private bedrooms, both furnished with new, comfortable queen beds, 100% cotton sheets and individual cooling units for your personal temperature needs.

Fully Equipped Kitchen provides an inspirational space to whip up a low country meal or a light snack between beach visits. Living Room offers a Flat Screen TV, Comcast Cable and Blu-Ray DVD player for all your viewing/streaming needs. WIFI throughout. Full Bathroom.

Venture out to the enclosed, climate controlled sun porch for a nap, game of cards or just a little R&R. The sun porch offers some additional space as well, to store surfboards or other items you may want left more secure. This vacation rental also has it's own private sundeck, offering a wonderful outdoor space to gather and enjoy.

Just one block back from the beach, the 8th block beach access offers a more private stretch of beach, away from the hustle/bustle of the pier and hotel crowds. Only 3 blocks from public tennis/basketball courts on 5th block East Erie and still walking/biking distance to Center St. where you will be find Folly's finest restaurants, shops and watering holes:)

Please note that this rental is part of a duplex design. This is the upstairs unit and guests enjoy the privacy of the front yard and entrance on East Ashley. The downstairs unit is rented to a quiet long term renter that accesses their rental from the back side of the home(East Cooper) entrance.

Why Dianne Ray chose Charleston Area

The new owner of this home has been blessed with the opportunity to travel and enjoy various parts of the world however she didn't know what she was getting into when she came to the Edge of America. Now her wandering ways are behind her as she has found a space that nourishes her spirit and inspires her soul. Looking forward to making Folly home in the future, she purchased this property in hopes of settling here permanently in the next few years. Until then she hopes to visit as much as possible and is thrilled to be able to offer her little slice of paradise to others, that they too will feel inspired and rejuvenated.

What makes this bungalow unique

This home is in a great location. The beach access is just a skip away. The unit itself is newly updated though still holds it's rustic charm with antique wood floors, bead board walls and various stain glass windows. It rest high on a dune, so it feels private and slightly removed from the activity below. Great sun porch and outdoor sundeck offers the additional space guests need to find a little "me" time. Great parking out front and if needed we can offer additional parking in the back on the East Cooper side.....say if you are able to bring a boat or have a camper, we have parking for that:)

Great Cottage

Perfect for my husband and me with plenty of room when our kids came for the last couple of days. Would be awesome if there was more than one bathroom but we made it work...Even when we all had to get ready for family pictures on the beach. Absolutely adorable and convenient to the beach. Would definitely stay again!! Dianne Ray is the easiest person to work with as well.

Cozy Place

We (myself, wife and daughter) liked this cozy place. We were able to be together all week. My wife worked during the day from the front room table looking out to the street. There is public beach access path across the street. This made many people park in front of the house for Memorial Day, so bringing extra cars is not advisable. Internet was 90 MB down, 10 MB up, so for all our devices and wife's work was awesome! Had a great week.

Owner's Response: So glad your wife enjoyed the front sun room! It is a lovely little space, allowing you to feel as if you're outdoors. The sun room is where the owner, an artist, is inspired to create her unique works, which you will find displayed throughout the bungalow. The wifi is exceptionally fast, which is a bonus when you want to stream movies or have multiple people on their devices. There is now a well marked, public beach access path, right across the street...making getting to the beach a little more convenient. Weekend and holiday parking can get a bit hectic here on the beach during the peak hours of the day...10-4. There's typically adequate parking out front, however all street parking is owned by the city of Folly Beach and we can not reserve or block of spaces. So glad this rental worked for your family!

Inexpensive beach bungalow apartment

Great location, directly across from beach access path, 1 block from beach. Nice linens and sufficient bath towels. Air conditioners in both bedrooms and living room worked great. The front porch air conditioner was feeble and could not cool room to a habitable temperature. We didn't use the front porch at all due to the temperature and a moldy smell, the baseboard trim was moldy and decaying in spots. Couldn't keep the windows open as the screens didn't fit flush, so bugs and other critters made their way in. The bed in the front room was comfortable,, but the bed in the backroom was horrendously uncomfortable. It was so mishaped and lumpy, my husband and I woke up with back and shoulder pain each morning. Definitely needs to be replaced. The shower had very weak pressure and we had to turn hot water off mid shower to let it heat back up again. The water from the tap tasted distinctly like dirt, even when we filtered with the Brita filter jug. Do not drink it. The living room setup was good, nice tv, and fast wireless. We enjoyed our stay as the beach is incredible and the food in Charleston was phenomenal. If the bed, ac, moldy trim, porch screens and water issues get resolved, I would recommend this rental.

Owner's Response: It is always our hope and goal to provide a comfortable and relaxing experience for our guests. The sun room is just that...a wonderful space, filled with windows and natural light. While this room tends to be warmer because of all the windows( and is also the entrance to the rental, allowing outdoor air in), it has never been expressed that the temperature was not comfortable enough to use We have looked into the issue and have replaced the A/C unit with a larger,more efficient unit. We also noticed a gap under the entrance door that was allowing air into the room and have repaired that area. When traveling, water in different areas will have a different taste. Folly water, in my opinion, is refreshing, however the rental is supplied with a Brita filter pitcher, that you can fill and refrigerate. We also have many markets nearby that supply gallon or even 5 gallon purified water containers, should your taste buds differ. This is the first we have been informed of the back bedroom bed not being comfortable. Both mattress sets were purchased at the same time and have only seen a couple of seasons of use. We have inspected the bed, it is in very good shape, just a bit firmer then the front bedroom. Everyone's sleep comfort level is different, while the back bed is firmer, it is good quality and in good condition. If you're looking for a comfortable, clean and affordable rental here on Folly, that has 2 bedrooms and a nicely stocked kitchen....this is a wonderful option. We appreciate guests feedback and use it to help owners make decisions, when it comes to upgrades and changes. We are grateful this owner is willing to share their unique property with visitors, offering a local and more personal experience.
