Approx 3000 square foot mountain top home located on 12 acres of beautiful land surrounded by a wall of trees with mountains peaking from the tree tops is a perfect location for a private vacation with family. The house is in close proximity to historic mount airy downtown, hiking trails, biking trails, kayaking, fishing and horseback riding. And after a long days adventuring you can return to the comfort of the house and watch the fireflies flood the grounds of the home - making for a memorable close to the day. In the morning, wake up to the wild life - turkeys, deer and rabbits to name a few - grazing the grass and eating apples off the trees.
-A large master bedroom overlooking the surrounding forest
-2 additional bedrooms with great view
-Master bath with jets
-Second bathroom for guests/children
-Large living room with a full size attached kitchen & breakfast area
-Two large outdoor decks with grill and seating areas
It was beautiful, big, nicely laid out and relaxing. It was so easy to set up are stay and great working with the owners. I can't wait to go back again in 2017. I highly recommend anyone to stay here. Wonderful get away for any family.
The other reviews have glowing recommendations but we did not find the house clean nor well equipped. The house needs a DEEP cleaning. None of the light switches were marked and there is only one light in the kitchen that is less than adequate. We found only one (sort of) 'sharp' knife to cut a watermelon; how the other renters prepared a meal baffles me. While we brought our own towels, there was no bath mat in either bathroom, no place to hang wet towels in the smaller of the two. The mats that were out were not clean and there was mold/mildew in the jets of the master tub. The sides of the tubs are so high, it is difficult to step out of, especially if you have arthritis. There are no safety features in either bath for gripping or prevent sliding in the tub. There was no place to hang the hand held shower head in the smaller bath; it is a hazard lying in the bottom of the tub. They had to send an e-mail with a picture of how to engage the shower head in the master; why not have instructions by the tub? We never found the ironing board. By a stroke of luck we looked in the oven before using it; pans were stored inside! That is very dangerous because the handles would have melted had we not found this. Be prepared to be cut off from the outside world; there is no land line and only one of us had cell service at times. Thankfully there was no emergency - like a fire in the oven. I'm just saying. The listing does not clearly state that the only TV in the house is in the basement; we found the remote upstairs. When we never got the TV to tune into anything. There was a Roku, but we never got it to work. The layout of the house is odd but functional. We never found a switch for the ceiling fan close to the kitchen; after some trial and error, we learned you turn it on by pulling the chain and if you want light, screw in the light bulbs. We had to use a towel to unscrew the bulbs because they got so hot. The fan is obnoxiously loud. The house has wi-fi but there is no hint to the password in the house. The owner was not sure what the password was and kept giving us different words to try. Finally they sent an e-mail and spelled it out. With only the floor for suitcases, we found ourselves standing on our heads twice a day to get to clothes. Why not have a luggage stand in each bedroom; no one will be there long enough to hang clothes up. Not that they could, there is not one hanger in the house. We will never go back to this property. Good luck if you go here.
This property was perfect for our trip. Very very spacious inside and on a large private property. The road dead-ends into this house, so there are wooded views every way you look. You can see pilot mountain from the backyard. There was a bonfire pit that we used and loved. We went downtown mt airy which was close! About 12 minute drive. We then hiked pilot mountain and drove to hanging rock state park. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the stay and the owners were perfect. Would stay here again! Thanks!
Our family all enjoyed the property. The house was clean, well equipped, the kitchen had almost everything you might need for a whole family Thanksgiving cook-out. The children enjoyed the woods, climbing trees and the nicely kept big yard. The master bedroom is the obvious centerpiece for this house a large open room, hardwood floors and nice decorations. The wi-fi is faster than we have at home. Simple, home-like and clean. I'd recommend it.
