'Water's Edge' has that great “Up North” feeling that we all love and is a great place for simply relaxing or for a ton of fun and sun on Secord Lake.

Located only 2 ½-3 hours from Detroit (half way between the towns of Gladwin and West Branch.)

It is nestled between 2 branches of Secord Lake with part of the lake being accessible on the front of the property and also from the rear of the property.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck that rests right on the shore of the lake as the lake and area come alive for the day with bird song.

In the evening, finish your day around the fire pit with a glass of wine or make that all time favorite....S’mores.

Secord Lake is an All Sports lake, with 90 miles of shoreline. It is great for boating, skiing, tubing, swimming, kayaking and great fishing (Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Crappie, Perch, Bullhead, Trout and Pan fish).

Bring your own boat/ personal watercraft or rent a pontoon or speedboat from Secord Lake Marina. The boat launch is just a couple of blocks from the house.

The front side of the property is great for pontoons, jet skis, tubing, etc.

If you like to kayak or canoe, the portion of the lake at the back side of the property is calmer for this type activity.

Gladwin is a great place for hunters and fisherman and if you love Michigan outdoor sports, there are lots of hiking and ATV/ORV trails in the area. The property is just off of M-30 which runs thru a portion of the 85,000 acres of the Gladwin State Forest.

• Living room, kitchen and eating area (combo)

• 2 Bedrooms (sleeps 4 total). 1 queen & 1 full

• Enclosed porch (futon sleeps 2)

(windows all across the front...great place to watch the activity on the lake)

• Attached room - extra sleeping area (3) and laundry room

(If you have more than 6 in your group)

• Picnic table and grill

• Wooden deck (on the shore of the lake)

• Dock

• Sandy beach

Beautiful view of the lake

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time renting this property. We rented middle of June and just stayed the weekend but had a wonderful time. We fished from the dock and the deck and caught a lot of very good size large mouth bass. We also caught blue gil and cat fish. We didn't swim since the weather wasn't that warm and it did rain a lot. The house was great it had everything we needed. No phone service which was fine for us since we were there to relax. We definitely would book here again.

Fantastic Location/Comfortable Space

  • 3 of 5

The location of this property was fantastic. We had beautiful views, a quiet location at the end of a street, and good neighborhoods to walk through. Kayaking was a joy and the fire pit was a relaxing bonus at the end of the day. The property owners were so kind to provide a small gift for us upon arrival. Also, the Welcome Book provided was so helpful, with maps, ideas of things to do, and many other resource items. What a well-thought out gesture! if I were to suggest an improvement, it would be in providing more "home-like" amenities for the guests. For just pennies per family, to have coffee filters available is such a comfort. Again, for just pennies per family to have dish soap and a basic cleaner is a relief to families. I was worried that if we spilled anything, there would be no way to clean up the mess. While the listing indicated there would be enough dish soap "to get started", I was surprised that they really meant they would only provide 1 tablespoon of dish soap. There was no cleaner available. Comforts of home go a long way in adding to a stay. Other than that, the place was very nice, clean, and provided most of what we needed.

Owner's Response: Glad to hear you enjoyed your stay enough to wish to return. The bunk room is not advertised as a bedroom, it is advertised as just what it is,,,,a laundry over-flow room that, if guests wish they may use for extra people. Thank you for letting us know and we will make the property owner aware.

Swartz Creek, MI

Property fit our needs very well.

  • 3 of 5

We enjoyed our vacation very much. Only a few issues.... The last few days there were ants on the kitchen counter & stove. Also we had a hard time getting the ceiling fan and light to work. Cabin does need some updates.

Location was super for the kids. They enjoyed swimming & riding their bikes & scooters. We had a pontoon for the week. The dock was a bit unstable but we managed. Loved boat rides on the river and swimming at the sand bar. Cabin was stocked with everything we needed although old it was acceptable.

Thank You for a terrific family vacation spot.

Owner's Response: So happy to hear when our guests enjoy their stay. I am sorry that there was an issue with the ceiling fan but were using the wrong switch. The switch was labeled but it is possible that the label came off. We are sorry to hear of the issue with the ants and the dock. Thanks for making us aware so that we address the issues.

Quaint Little Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay! The house provided a nice spot to relax and read, of which we did a ton :) We liked the option of sitting on the deck or laying out on the beach; however, it would have been perfect if the grassy area was actually grassy instead of covered with ant hills. Our lab had the best time jumping off of the dock and swimming in the lake. We also swam a bit to cool down after reading in the sun. It was nice having a sandy area to walk on while wading into the water. As you can tell, we spent a lot of time outside, but the house was very comfortable too.
