'Water's Edge' has that great “Up North” feeling that we all love and is a great place for simply relaxing or for a ton of fun and sun on Secord Lake.

Located only 2 ½-3 hours from Detroit (half way between the towns of Gladwin and West Branch.)

It is nestled between 2 branches of Secord Lake with part of the lake being accessible on the front of the property and also from the rear of the property.

Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck that rests right on the shore of the lake as the lake and area come alive for the day with bird song.

In the evening, finish your day around the fire pit with a glass of wine or make that all time favorite....S’mores.

Secord Lake is an All Sports lake, with 90 miles of shoreline. It is great for boating, skiing, tubing, swimming, kayaking and great fishing (Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike, Crappie, Perch, Bullhead, Trout and Pan fish).

Bring your own boat/ personal watercraft or rent a pontoon or speedboat from Secord Lake Marina. The boat launch is just a couple of blocks from the house.

The front side of the property is great for pontoons, jet skis, tubing, etc.

If you like to kayak or canoe, the portion of the lake at the back side of the property is calmer for this type activity.

Gladwin is a great place for hunters and fisherman and if you love Michigan outdoor sports, there are lots of hiking and ATV/ORV trails in the area. The property is just off of M-30 which runs thru a portion of the 85,000 acres of the Gladwin State Forest.

• Living room, kitchen and eating area (combo)

• 2 Bedrooms (sleeps 4 total). 1 queen & 1 full

• Enclosed porch (futon sleeps 2)

(windows all across the front...great place to watch the activity on the lake)

• Attached room - extra sleeping area (3) and laundry room (If you have more than 6 in your group)

• Picnic table and grill

• Wooden deck (on the shore of the lake)

• Dock

• Sandy beach

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Third year on a row it has been our home for a week! We just

LOVE being there, to enjoying the view of the river from both sides

of the house, looking at the nature, sunrise and sunset, listening

to birds, smelling already starting to fall leaves and early morning fog...

Plenty of space, comfortable and cozy, fire place inside and fire pit outside,

great deck overlooking the river...Real Gladwin paradise!!!

We alredy will be booking for next year!!!

Actually, more like 4 1/2 stars!

  • 4 of 5

Overall, one of the nicer places that we have rented on Secord Lake. We will definitely consider staying here again. Not perfect, but above average. Being on the main part of the lake is quite busy on Fri/Sat/Sun, which could be a positive or a negative depending on your mindset. The hot water has a sulfur smell, which is not unusual in cottages with well water. The all-weather porch, and the deck overlooking the lake are a real plus.

Secord House

Good location on peninsula with docks on both sides, enjoyed the fire pit. House was good, everything worked and beds were very comfortable. Screened in porch was nice. Strong sulphur smell in the water was difficult.

Beautiful view of the lake

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time renting this property. We rented middle of June and just stayed the weekend but had a wonderful time. We fished from the dock and the deck and caught a lot of very good size large mouth bass. We also caught blue gil and cat fish. We didn't swim since the weather wasn't that warm and it did rain a lot. The house was great it had everything we needed. No phone service which was fine for us since we were there to relax. We definitely would book here again.
