The Most Perfect Rental Ever!

  • 5 of 5

My husband found this apartment rental on Home Away because I love horses and we both love New Hampshire. Growing up having horses and being a nature lover, this was the most amazing vacation spot.

Going up the long driveway you see red barns, paddocks and acres of green pastures with horses. There are only about 6 steps to get up into the apartment which was built level to the hayloft. We were surprised at how spacious the apartment was....it has a fully functioning kitchen, high ceilings, a long hall and off of that is a nice sized bathroom, a big bedroom and at the end of the hall is the living room with a huge picture window. There are skylights in the hall, bedroom and living room and breathtaking views of the pastures and mountains from the picture window.

We loved waking up every morning to see the horses right outside the kitchen window! Also we brought our African Grey Tyeena and she woke us up very early every morning singing and talking because she was so happy there! :)

Alice and Kurt are the nicest people.....very down-to-earth, easy to talk with and we enjoyed getting to know them. One night Alice invited us to the barn and she told us about the history of the property and surrounding area. She also introduced us to each horse, telling us what their breed was and their background. Being into horses we loved that! And I have to mention that the barn, stalls and tackroom were the cleanest I've ever seen as well as the entire property. They are a hard-working couple and really care about their animals.

My husband and I have been traveling from CT to NH for many years and honestly it was just about the nicest vacation there we've ever had.

I've told my whole family and some friends about it so that they can go too. And we can't wait to go back!

Thank you so much Alice & Kurt.

lovely view, nice folks

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed my stay at this property during foliage season 2016. The view is everything that's promised--and if that's not enough for you, just take a walk along the road for even more lovely vistas. The apartment itself is warm and functional, having been built into the upper level of a barn. Alice and Kurt provide board and training for horses, so you are surrounded, quite literally, by horses.

At night you need only walk out onto the deck off the kitchen to enjoy the stars. No nearby light pollution and a good view of the night sky in most directions. TV is via small indoor antenna--you'll get a few channels. I happened to have a fancier indoor antenna with me which got a couple more. Wifi is available but restricted. For date-intensive surfing, I tried to make use of either the Bethlehem library or the Franconia chamber of commerce public wifi.

All in all, a nice place to stay and suited my needs.

Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay here! Kurt and Alice are such amazing people, we are sad to be leaving. Waking up to horses right outside your window never got old! We brought our dog too who loved it here, so much space for her to run around all day. We definitely plan on coming back.

Beautiful! Fun! Relaxing! Convenient!

  • 5 of 5

Yes to all of these! The hosts are wonderful - friendly and welcoming. The unit is quite large and comfortable with *stunning* views. As to sleeping options, there are twin sized air mattresses and a pull out couch in addition to the bed. Littleton is less than 10 minutes away and Santa's Village is 30 minutes via beautiful country roads. We can't wait to go back!
