Perfect for our girls getaway!!

  • 5 of 5

We loved it! I rented this for a weekend of girl fun with my girlfriends, and my grown daughter and her college-aged friends. The house was clean and had plenty of room for all 10 ladies! Having A/C was nice and the hot water heater seemed to keep up the best it could with all of us ladies. The younger generation got the whole basement and really seemed to enjoy the tub from the giggles heard upstairs! The house was well stocked with plenty of linens, etc, including firewood, which was much enjoyed.

The location was great for us, centrally located between Traverse City and Frankfort. Unfortunately, mother nature did not cooperate with us for some hot and sunny days at Lake MI as we had hoped for, but we made the best of it. We enjoyed shopping in both Traverse and Frankfort, visiting local wineries, hiking some of the local trails, and even watching the sunset from the top of Crystal Mountain!

The only things that could have made it better would be a better quality blender in the kitchen, and it would have been nice to be left some dishwasher soap but no one seemed to mind washing the dishes by hand. Perhaps we will do it again next year!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the good review and feedback. There should always be dishwasher soap pods underneath the kitchen sink directly to the right of the dishwasher. Our cleaning person confirmed that there were some there and even sent me a picture (I wanted to confirm that there were some there!). Perhaps they just got missed? Also, I will look at the blender the next time we are there.

Wonderful place to stay

  • 4 of 5

This is a lovely home in a great location. It is roomy yet cozy. We had a group ranging in age from 1-65 and it worked great for all of us. We really enjoyed hanging out in the living room, dining area , sharing ski stories at the end of the day. I especially liked the room off back entrance for everyone to use to take off ski stuff. The basement is very roomy. I was afraid it would be chilly but it was very comfortable. A great place for the kids to hang out. Lots of movies but we didn't have time for any. There was plenty of firewood provided, and ample parking which is a plus. I cook quite a bid and very much appreciate essential supplies provided, salt, pepper, some spices, cooking oil, etc, dish soap, etc. The only reason I didn't give 4 stars is the bathroom in basement, shower is in jacuzzi tub and you have to walk through bedroom to get to it and showers upstairs are kind of small. Really not anything to take away from your stay as long as you know. I would definitely recommend staying here. As a matter of fact my grandson, age 6, asked several times if we could buy a house and stay.

Great house! Great location!

  • 4 of 5

Overall we really liked this house and all that was included! There was plenty of room for large parties to stay and the kitchen was stocked nicely with cooking utensils, etc. The house is perfectly situated in Crystal Mountain.

The only concerns we had were that some of the pillows and towels had stains. The 2nd bedrooms top blanket was ripped. For future renters, it is good to know some little details. The bunk beds are in the "rec room" next to the bar in the basement. The basement bathroom is only accessible through the 3rd bedroom and the shower is actually a Jacuzzi tub with shower curtains rigged oddly around it and a shower head attached to the shower rod. It is not easy to get in and out of the tub. The teens found a step stool to use to try to make it easier. It made for a good conversation. But others should be aware of this depending on your needs.

Lovely home,

  • 4 of 5

We were generally very pleased with our stay. The photos represent the home accurately. The home was really very clean! The kitchen facilities were more than adequate for preparing family meals, the fire pit was used every night, the mattresses, bedding and towels were very nice. The inclusion of many kitchen and bathroom basics such as paper towels, toilet paper , garbage bags, dish and hand soap, waxed paper, foil, oil, salt and pepper etc was very thoughtful.

The front porch was very comfortable and a great place for morning coffee and breakfast. There is lots of parking space for our 4 vehicles without having to jockey them around.

There is a very adequate grocery store in nearby Thompsonville and the pub in the resort was a great place for a meal out. Moomers ice cream shop was also well used!

We did have a couple of problems.,,,,that I think future renters should be aware of . We had an ongoing problems with wasps in and around the house. One of our group did get stung, we had one person who has to carry an epi pen so we were quite concerned for him. we also had an infant with us who has never had an insect sting so we were concerned for him. Brad responded very quickly to my message of concern and we had a visit from the maintenance and exterminator within a couple of hrs. The problem did improve but was not fully ratified...after spraying the wasps were generally, if alive stunned .

The second issue that others might want to know is that the air conditioning does not work effectively unless all bedroom doors are left open all the time. Several people were quite uncomfortable on our first night but after the doors were left open the problem was pretty much resolved except for that couple in the basement bedroom with their baby. The door had to be closed so baby could sleep.

Having to leave the doors open and no doors on the downstaris bunk room mean that your group should be very comfortable with the lack of privacy,

Hopefully the very uncomfortable sofa bed in the basement will be repaired or it should be taken off the listing.

We had a great time visiting local beaches including a very nice small beach in nearby Beulah, Sleeping Bear Dunes, villages of Empire and Frankfort. Lots of fun! Many thanks.
